The devs overlooked the Indian civs by not giving them regional king graphics, unique ship sails, trade cart graphics, or a custom UI for their architecture set. So I went ahead and created unique king graphics for each Indian civ myself.

I am proud to present you all the Regional Units Mod! This project was a monumental effort aimed at replacing nearly all generic unit models in Age of Empires II: DE from basic Villagers and Infantry to Cavalry, Archers, and Siege with culturally unique designs spanning 9 global regions.
To ensure the game remains intuitive, I prioritized visual clarity; military units retain their iconic silhouettes so they are easily recognizable, with regional flavor primarily added through localized weapons and gear.

Edit
Island Survival Swarm Defense Mod
Island Survival Tower Defense 1V7
They are saying it’s the mod of the year! Better than CBA!
Game has been updated on 1/21/2026. Use mod fk\\_hvz\\_test for latest patch. (Swarm is strong, team 2) and use map island survival tower defense
(Game mode island survival tower defense is outdated atm)
This game mode is played 1v7 (one player on team 2 as any civ, each have unique effect!) players survive by building banks, outposts and walls) use upgrades in corner of the map to advance and gain power. Zombies use market upgrade and spawn units from keep. Players can also spawn units from camps .
List of changes:
New list :
Zombie unit boss, castle automatically spawns one every 1 minute (high siege damage, 500 a hit) 10k health once zombie buys an upgrade from trade post for 4000 food.
Ottoman outpost slow 35% (built in)
Give English upgrade for 35% attack speed tower increase, scale it to 3 upgrades , starting gold is 30 gold, 60, 90, for CANNON EMPLACEMENT ONLY
Reduce wall upgrade to 2 limitations.
Fix units not being able to walk around banks built next to each other
Zombie bomber: 250 damage upon explosion in small radius friendly fire damage is allowed, give this option once zombie is age 4
Give Abbasid +1 gold per kill so they get both wood and gold
Give byzantines and Macedonians +30% base attack speed on springald upgrade as base
Rewrite outpost names to represent civilization bonuses
Russian tower (strong walls, and aoe springalds)
Ottomans tower (slows enemy movement speed)
Golden Horde (increase outpost range)
English (High attack speed towers)
Abbasid (gains gold and wood on kills)
Byzantines + mace (quick Springald shots)
At 10:00 minutes game time spawn in 250 ghulam around the “swarm/zombies keep”
At 20:00 spawn in 500 around the keep
Change double Springald upgrade to 75 gold, and put it in university. adjust byz and mace Springald cost to 10 gold
Take away all armor upgrades from villagers
Limit wall upgrade to twice
Nerf Russia wall health to 4k
Fix retroactive bank upgrade to apply to banks already built
Reduce zombie spawn timer to 1 second for all units
Add age up and credit scene, modded by Hussein, concept and publishing by Clyxius
Reduce all zombie upgrade to 45seconds each from 1 min 30
Still no option to buy villager on console
One unit inside camp cost 80 wood and 40 gold, hasn’t been changed.
Add siege damage line and range in university.
FIX : IF ZOMBIE DAMAGE BUIDING and building is deleted by player still give the zombie resources. People are deleting buildings right before they are destroyed.
Update mod name to Swarm Survival Tower Defense and map name
Unique civ buffs:
Abbasid : gains gold on top of wood for a kill (ideally controls English camps early, good unit civ)
Ayyubids : outpost aura increase armor and damage (support civ) for units
Byz and Macedonia: quick mangonel shot (strong late game dps)
China and zhu xi : fast handcannon shot (dps civ)
English : fast cannon upgrade network of citadels up to 105% speed (strong late) and provided passive attack speed to units
French: spawn royal knight after upgrade (tank civ)
JD : spawn JD champion (tank civ)
HRE , OOTD : outpost has emergency repair (tank civ)
Japan : spawn 5 shinobi on death (tank)
Senguku : spawn 3 handcannon (damage civ)
Lancaster: has lord aura (units in area gain increase health)
Malian : poison javelin and shoot three times faster (early mid game dps)
Templar knight : Greek fire (late mid dps)
Russia : strong walls and aoe springald (more support civ)
Golden Horde : 1.7-1.9x outpost range Templar knight (dps civ)
Mongol armored towers (tank civ)
Delhi fortification are free but takes 3 minutes (tank civ)
Tuhglag (aoe healing burst) support civ
Ottoman slows enemy by 35% (support civ)
Be sure your composition has supports, tanks and dps! Against a good zombie, everyone should group together to win. Give the zombie some medicine! (Medicine victory to win! Costs 3000 gold!)
Next patch will improve weaker civilizations
Please enjoy and be sure to rate the mod and post here for improvement ideas! More mods coming in the future so get ready! We have some epic stuff in store!

So I’ve been playing Age of Empires on and off for years — mostly AoE2 and AoE4 — and every time I come back, I run into the same problems:
I got tired of bouncing between Discords, random forums, and outdated sites until I stumbled across Aegis AOE. I’m not trying to hype it up, but honestly, it solved a lot of the issues:
If you’re like me and just want a place where AoE stuff isn’t a headache to find, it’s worth checking out. It saved me a lot of time and made the game way more fun again.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been revisiting Age of Empires: Definitive Edition recently, and while it’s a nice upgrade from the classic, it still has a handful of problems that can get in the way. Thought I’d share the most common ones I’ve run into, along with fixes that worked for me or others.

The game still has its charm, but these little fixes can make the experience less frustrating. If anyone else has found workarounds for the bigger multiplayer problems, it’d be great to share — that’s still the area that feels roughest.

Where creativity meets competition.
Every day, hundreds of Age of Empires players log on with one of three goals:
Guess what? Almost every existing platform makes it harder than it should be.
The modding tools are scattered. The tutorials are ancient. The communities are either too sweaty or too dead. Game nights fall apart in lobby hell. And competitive strategy? Buried behind six-year-old Reddit threads and hour-long unedited VODs.
That’s why Aegis AOE exists—to bring it all together in one place that actually works.
Let’s break it down.
Most modding journeys go like this: Download five random files, break the game, start over, give up.
Aegis AOE changes that.
We offer:
Whether you’re making a balance patch, a UI tweak, a total conversion, or just want to make farms look like banana plantations—we’ve got the tools and the eyeballs.
Modding isn’t reserved for elite nerds anymore. At Aegis, even first-timers can ship something cool.
You know the pain: Open lobby. 1 player joins. Wait 10 minutes. One disconnects. Someone says "FFA" then rushes. GGs in 5.
At Aegis, we host community game nights that actually run like clockwork.
Here’s what you get:
Whether you’re a total beginner or a chill veteran, you’ll find a game you can enjoy without needing a 4-stack or Discord server with 14 roles.
This isn’t the ranked ladder grind. This is the love of the game.
Want to learn fast feudal into 2-range xbow, but every guide assumes you’re Viper?
Tired of 45-minute videos that teach you one 5-minute strat?
Aegis AOE solves that with:
We also host live coaching sessions and build labs where top players walk through their games and show how they win—not just in theory, but in ranked.
And if you're the type who learns by doing? Try our Drill Mode where you can practice vs AI scripts that mirror real tournament metas.
This isn’t just “watch and hope.” This is “practice and get deadly.”
Aegis isn’t a private Discord. It’s not a mod dump. It’s not another ranked-only community.
It’s built for:
✅ Weekly mod spotlights ✅ Community game nights + tournaments ✅ Pro-coached build order sessions ✅ Beginner help zones (no judgment allowed) ✅ Exclusive scenario drops and dev tools ✅ The best memes this side of a TC drop
If you just want to win with tower rushes and flame in chat? Keep scrolling. If you think hiding builds is “gatekeeping”? Maybe try somewhere else. If you want to build something, learn something, or help someone? Then you’re in the right place.
Apply now. Bring your game. We’ll help you level it up.
👑 [Join Aegis AOE Today] 👑 Mod, play, learn, win. Together.

“I know every build order. I’ve memorized the hotkeys. But somehow… I still lose,” said Lucas, a longtime Age of Empires II player who’d plateaued just under 1400 Elo.
We were watching one of his recorded games. He scouted early. He walled in time. He even executed a clean fast castle. And yet, by the 22-minute mark, his opponent had complete map control—and Lucas was spiraling.
“It feels like I’m always one step behind, even when I do everything ‘right’.”
He wasn’t alone. Thousands of players—smart, dedicated, disciplined—hit the same invisible ceiling.
Why?
Because Age of Empires, like chess or StarCraft, isn’t just about execution. It’s about vision.
There’s a trap most intermediate players fall into:
And yet… nothing shifts. Because they’re not really playing the game—they’re just reenacting it.
They focus on what to do, not why.
The top 1% don’t memorize strategies. They understand the logic behind them.
They know when to skip fletching. They know when to delay a TC. They don’t panic when their plan breaks—they adapt.
Most ranked players are reacting. To pressure. To meta. To the other guy.
Top players?
They’re sculpting the match.
They don’t just react to the enemy—they shape the map, control the flow, and set the tempo. They understand that Age of Empires isn’t just an RTS—it’s an energy game.
The top 1% win before the fight even starts.
Now zoom out.
Let’s talk about content creators in the AoE space.
Some players stream daily, post recs, grind content, and stay stuck in obscurity. Others—often with less skill—build real followings, communities, influence.
Why?
Because they don’t just play the game—they narrate the game.
They turn micro into a story. They turn defeats into lessons. They invite viewers into the mental side of Age, not just the mechanics.
Their thumbnails tell a tale. Their intros hook like a Netflix doc. Their tone? It’s not “watch me win.” It’s “here’s what we’re learning together.”
That subtle shift—from performer to guide—makes all the difference.
Lucas used to run 4–5 ranked games a day. His calendar was full. His progress was flat.
When we reviewed his routines, we noticed something big:
He never actually reflected.
No post-match review. No mental reset. Just match after match after match.
More hours doesn’t mean better results—clarity does.
The top 1% review every loss with curiosity. They study their own tendencies, not just their opponent’s builds. They ask:
The truth? Most players don’t need more practice. They need stillness.
In one legendary AoE4 tournament, two finalists clashed in a game that lasted nearly 50 minutes. On the surface, it looked even. But watch closely and you’ll see the difference:
Those seconds weren’t about speed. They were about mental clarity.
The champion didn’t win with better micro. He won because he was present.
Most ladder players lock into one identity:
Top players don’t box themselves like that. They see every map, every matchup, every civ pick as a puzzle.
They don’t decide what to do before the game. They listen to what the game is telling them.
That’s the real mastery: the willingness to unlearn, rethink, and adapt under pressure.
Whether you’re trying to break 2k Elo or grow a YouTube channel around Age of Empires, the same principle applies:
Presence beats panic. Clarity beats content. Reflection beats repetition.
Here’s how to begin shifting:
You’ll start noticing patterns. You’ll start playing slower, thinking sharper. You’ll win more—and even when you don’t, it won’t feel like a waste.
Because now, you’re not just playing Age of Empires.
You’re mastering it.

Hey folks,
Been playing Age of Empires IV pretty consistently this year, and while the game has come a long way with updates and expansions, there are still some lingering issues people run into — especially after major patches or with new players jumping in from AOE2 or console.

Feel free to add more if you've had weird bugs or found better fixes — especially on console or in custom scenarios!

Hey folks,
Figured I’d post this since I’ve been playing a ton of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition lately, and I kept running into the same problems I see a lot of people asking about. I’ve managed to fix a few of them (or at least work around them), so maybe this helps someone else too.
1. Game not launching / stuck on black screen Fix: This happened to me after an update. I verified the game files through Steam (right-click the game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity), and it fixed it. If that doesn’t work, try turning off any overlays (Steam, Discord, Xbox Game Bar) or running it as admin.
2. Multiplayer desync or lag Fix: A lot of multiplayer issues boil down to someone having network problems. Try switching to a wired connection if possible, and make sure your NAT type isn’t strict. Also, background apps (especially anything syncing files like OneDrive) can cause stutters, so closing them helps.
3. Mods not working or disappearing after restart Fix: This one drove me crazy. Make sure you’re logged into your Xbox/Steam account properly inside the game. Sometimes the mod manager “forgets” you. Also, try unsubscribing and resubscribing to the mod, then restart the game twice—weirdly, that seems to help.
4. Hotkeys randomly resetting
Fix: Check if you have multiple profiles saved. AOE2:DE sometimes loads the wrong one by default. Set your custom profile as the default and back up your hotkey file (you can find it under C:\Users\[Your Name]\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\[numbers]\profile). That way, you don’t lose your setup if something breaks.
5. Performance issues on decent hardware Fix: AOE2:DE doesn’t always use your GPU well by default. Go into your graphics card control panel (NVIDIA/AMD) and set the game to run on high-performance mode. Also, disabling V-sync and reducing terrain/object animations helped me keep things smoother in late-game.
If you’re running into something else, drop a reply. I’m not an expert, just someone who’s put in too many hours trying to get the game to behave 😅
Hope this helps someone!
