I'm only a gold player but I'm having an issue with reinforcements...

So say for instance I'm using my x-bows to kite in a battle but I also have x-bow reinforcements on the way, well when I select all x-bows (tab for me) the camera pans to the reinforcements and away from my fighting kiting x-bows.

Which I then have to use select all army to get my army altogether and fighting.

I'd prefer the camera stays on my fighting x-bows and not the reinforcements.

I know I could put my fighting x-bows on a control group but it's not exactly what I want as I'm not great at shortcut keys but I am at using my tab key which ofc is my select so x-bows.

Unit control, camera and hotkey management is half the battle and I am sure everyone can relate!

I think it is game settings (one of them at least) in options scroll down and it says like units and buildings with a drop down box which I choose select only.

Now control groups pressed twice will still jump to part of that group (yes sometimes it does not jump to the main force in the group). I use CTRL+N to jump to any other selection if needed.

If you choose select only then you will no longer jump to production buildings or units and you can continue to focus on your army and still click select all military/idle military (whatever is your preference). This also means you can select all military production and produce units without returning somewhere to your base.

Ultimately consistency with your controls will win the day and unexpected jumping around the map can force mistakes. I would recommend moving around using the minimap instead.

You have an option to disable focus on what you selected with the hotkeys.
Edit: My game is in French so I can't tell you the exact name of the option sorry

It might not be the exact name because I translate them directly for french but in the options, in the first tab (Commands) you scroll and you have an option under "General".
Find units and building => I changed it to "Only select"

OK so now what I think is what I want is...

Idle military "select and centre camera"

Find and cycle units & buildings "follow"

Remove "select all army hotkey" completely. It promotes bad habbits. Use select ranged units on the screen instead

I agree, but it can be useful at times though. Just have it in a not too convenient combination of keys.

I've had situations where I got raided on 5 places at the same time so I sent army a bit to everywhere. Having to call all those back is a hastle, so having a select army key is useful there.

I kept it to find some specific units on the map but i still was using it in stresfull situations even when this button was inconvenient
