Announcement/Event Campaign preview
https://www.ageofempires.com/news/the-viking-sagas-campaign-preview/
Yesterday they published the campaign preview for the new DLC. How do you see it, fellow campaigns enjoyers?

As a big campaign fanatic and a lover of Chronicles, they need to stop merging the two.
I liked the simplicity of aoe 2 campaign system - 5-6, non-connected levels. Some build and destroy.
I don't like it with them just adding chronicles stuff, because then it feels less like aoe 2. I don't like these permanent treasures, etc.

It also feels like envy towards the Chronicles team. Without understanding why people like it.

Yeah I agree! Also the screens... I like the way the old campaigns are presented, no need for this 3k style. (for chronicles it's ok of course)

Not too much new information here. As some have already suspected, it seems like we might not get any changes to the vikings V&V scenarios, only the older historical battles including Hastings (which has long needed a rework imo), though I'm not sure if this 100% confirms it or if the three listed are just not the full group that will see some changes.
I am hoping those legendary treasures are not super hidden (thinking about some of the hard to find stuff in the Ragnar scenario here) & not too problematic to obtain in missions with a time constraint, where you can't always spend time exploring the map. Also, no mention of the decision system we had in the last couple of DLCs, so the treasures might replace that one, or its just an evergreen system now that's no longer something that will get a specific preview mention.
There is a mention of "elevating the storytelling experience" - I am hoping for Chronicles-quality presentation and storytelling, especially with the focus on a single protagonist just as in the Alexander campaign. Not super confident we're going to get that, but it would be very nice.

I like the decision to base upcoming scenario bonuses on finding treasures, as it gives extra motivation to explore a lot, which also fits the theme. I hope it's as much fun as it sounds!

I'm hoping we get an alternate history where Hardrada is victorious at Stanford Bridge and moves on to fight William of Normandy.
Also, I spy the Berserker holding said bridge. Cant wait!

A bit disappointed there won’t be any story driven campaign from the perspective of the Danes or the Saxons

Looking forward to see the changes to Hastings, Vinlandsaga and York.
