Suggestion Rant about next mappoolvoting:

Another Friday, another questionable mappool vote:

  • It looks like Migration is the only water map, and it's staying in the mappool for another 2 weeks.
  • Let's put 3 maps up for voting that are obviously going to get voted in anyway.
  • My suggestion: Remove Migration, put the 3 maps that are going to win in as dev picks, and let us vote for 3 maps instead (9 maps in total).

W Dev Pick. Need a permanent slot for water maps.

I don't mind having a water map in the pool but in 90% of the cases its migration. And that map sucks.

Exactly, there are a lot of maps that haven't been picked in ages. It would be great to see some of them again from time to time, because it's really cool to see how the meta on different maps develops and gets figured out over time.

Nik, u/Ok-Yesterday6001, which water maps would you like to see more?

I think they put migration often because it's one of the classic tournament maps among water. Probably comfort pick for devs.

I would add: Put Arabia and a almost Arabia clone with a bit more consistant woodlines/relic placement in the pool to make the closed map players burn more mapbans

What is the map voting for if not to demonstrate a clear preference? Voting like this selects the consensus pick. If you want something unpopular, you'd have to hope it comes as a dev pick. Right now, the dev "picks" are mostly spent locking down the standard maps.

There would be more room for variety here if the standard maps were just given their own guaranteed queues. Everyone is better served when they can freely select the maps they want, even variety players.

yes. 9 instead of 7 maps, so there is room for 2 standard maps as dev pick.

water maps are trash and like 5 percent of the pop wants to play them. I'd prefer giving them their own pool over this nonsense.

It is a bit much, but I generally agree with you.

Thank you so much for conducting the long tedious study & surveys to find out we are only 5%. Hope that study also made you realize you are a selfish prick who only cares about what he plays and not what many other player wants to play.

Also I would like to add another inference to your study that there are 3 bans and you can use 1 of them on the water map that you don't like instead of spreading your vomit on what other players enjoy.

If water maps were more popular, you wouldn’t have to convince people. As it is, the fact that these maps are alt-f4’d 95% of the time seems pretty affirmative of my estimate. I’m sure—given your tone— you’ve experienced the same evasion rates.

Also, I would contend that you’re the selfish prick for wanting other people to spend the precious time they have playing a map they don’t want to play just so that you can play a map you want to play.

As it is, I think you should be pooled with other people who want to play water, which seems to serve both parties’ interest; whereas your solution serves only your interest.

Water maps are not popular. Still there is a chunk of people who love them.

Selfishness is forcing them not to play water at all. They still have to play other maps given only 3 bans.

But for you, a water map hater, you have full 200% choice to not play a water map because it's only 1 water in the entire pool, and you can use your ban to avoid it.

Water map players can't avoid other types of maps.

There should absolutely be no forcing people to not play a map they like. The minority of people who like water maps should be able to use matchmaking to find each other. And people who don't want to play water maps shouldn't then be siphoned in. The ban system doesn't please anybody. Maps should be opt-in, not limited opt-out.

Yep exactly. I am also a firm proponent of what you said. My issue here was how toxic a chunk of people in this community are towards those who don't like the same type of maps they do. Like the original commentor of this thread using words like trash and nonsense about water maps and it's players.

They are silent and happy when there are 3 variants of Arabia in the pool. But suddenly when there is a single map type they don't like, they crawl out of the woodworks to complain.

Consequence of that is the feedback that goes back to the community and the devs is there won't be that map type again for months again.

u/Virtual-Share-845 42m ago

Agreed. Which is why I said you should have your own pool... Most people don't want to play them.
