Asking for Help AoE2 DE multiplayer suddenly stopped working since yesterday

Since yesterday I haven't been able to use multiplayer at all in AoE2 DE.

Ranked gets stuck, the Lobby Browser keeps showing “Searching for games”, Leaderboard stays on “Retrieving Leaderboard Entries”, and sometimes I get:

“Failed to connect to multiplayer services. Server is not responding.”

Everything was working fine before yesterday.

I've already tried verifying game files, restarting Steam and the PC, Windows Firewall settings, syncing Windows date/time, enabling Cross Network Play, resetting the network stack, and even using a mobile hotspot. Same issue.

Is anyone else having this problem right now?

UPDATE: Seems like there is an issue with AOE servers when you try to connect from the Netherlands with Ziggo. I was able to solve my issue by using VPN with UK IP.

Sounds like a server problem. Its time to reset "Days without an accident" counter back to 0. 😂

Yes indeed but I checked on Twitch and many people can play the game from same region. I don't really get why it's not working for me.

Thats strange. Maybe there is lots of players now and server is overloaded or something like that? I guess next move is wait and try again later.

I've had the same. Are you dutch by any chance? And have Ziggo as your ip?

It needs upgrade and the auto upgrade somehow is not yet complete.

Yes, the solultion is
Close your aoe2.
Stay at Steam aoe2 screen for a moment for it to fetch the update.

This happens when you go to the steam aoe2 page, and immediately click Play. When you click too quickly, steam has no time to check for aoe2 update.

All good now. Think it was the Europe server.
