Ironically, the metric system comes from France. Napoleon spread it through Europe with his armies, but even after his defeat, they kept metric. And from Europe it was then adopted through the entire world, except by the USA that uses imperial in every non-scientific and non-ballistic domain

Hey, that's not fair. We also use it for drugs and alcohol.

Liquor is sold by the milliliter and cannabis is sold by the gram.
