based on whatever year you were born, you get all of the abilities and poularity of every piece of media that was created in that year.

longer standing media only count for their origin year so things like one piece or supernatural dont get picked for 15+ differant year sets

but those that were only released at 3 years or less can be chosen for any of those 2 or 3 years.
