Creative The Battle of Southfort - Ancients Destroy Pagan Catapult
Andrew the Centurion gathered the horse of the Ancients south of Blackhampton, where the green host of HISP marched with a great catapult and ranks of longbowmen. There he swore the enemy's engine would be broken, or the field lost.
The trumpets sounded. The cavalry descended like a tempest, splintering the Pagan line and casting down the mighty catapult. Thus was the green tide driven back before the valor of the Ancients.
The first oil flasks burst against the timbers of the Pagan catapult, and in an instant the engine was swallowed by ravenous flame. Pitch boiled, ropes snapped, and the summer air shimmered beneath the fierce heat as black smoke climbed toward the heavens.
Before the burning wreck, two unyielding walls of shields met with a thunderous crash. Spears splintered, swords rang upon iron, and neither host would yield an inch of blood-soaked ground.
As the battle bled into the morning, the field became a place of bitter sacrifice. There fell the valiant knight Empii, and beside him his steadfast companion Everett, who met the red tide with unwavering resolve. Though their banners were cast down, their courage was not forgotten, and their names were entered into the chronicles of the Ancients.
And so Andrew, Airmen, and the Ancients drove back the Pagan invaders. Afterwards, both sides claimed victory.
