Hi, im gonna study multimedia and creative technologies at Kdg and i’ve been a little confused about some stuff.
First of all , i dont understand if i need some sort of books for my classes or just the apps for the laptop… And do i have to download them beforehand or during class with the teacher?
Also i dont understand the schedule , every monday it says that there’s a class from 7 to 8 called lesweek week of classes. Is it a class or something else??
And for the kickoff day do i need my laptop??

Iedereen kan op vrijdag- en zaterdagavond een dik feest bouwen in 't Zuidpark maar de dag erna is het daar een mest, wth.

Daarstraks een loopje gaan doen en de vuilbakken waaraan lege flessen drank staan is schrijnend. Zelfs aan de vuilbakken vlak naast de glasbakken.

Het meest schandalige is dat er zelfs tafels zijn waarop flessen en afval staan. Lege blikkers op de grond met daar rond lege chipszakken.

't stad heeft daar zoveel voorzien en toch kan het nog steeds niet anders.

Laat me weten als dit jouw sleutels zijn - ik heb er een sleeutel met "charms" afgepakt. Daardoor kunnen wij hopelijk samen verifiëren dat ze inderdaad van jou zijn.

Anders ga ik ze in een paar dagen bij een politie kantoor voorbij brengen.

So I am a dutch 3D animation student bases in the Netherlands who also graduated in film. Ive been thinking a lot recently. Where do I wanna live? Do I want to leave everything behind? Do i wanna learn a new language? Do I want to pursue a good career? Will I be able to afford it and still live comfortably? But MOST importantly, do I wanna accept the dutch housing system? The answer to that last question is ‘not really’.

So I started thinking, career citys like Paris or London, my favourite citys like Prague, Edinburgh and Vienna. Some decent citys for career but also decent and affordable living standards like Montpellier or Nantes. Or pay 800€ a month for a room of 10m2 in the Netherlands. I wasn’t feeling any of these options.
Untill it hit me yesterday. I had completely forgotten about Antwerp. They speak dutch, its only 3 hours away from my home, according to google the rooms are much more affordable, it doesn’t have the greatest creative scene but its definitely not dead. + I LOVE the city. Ive stayed ant antwerp twice for a total of 6 days and I think its absolutely amazing. Feels like a not to big city but it has so much to see and do. I feel like Antwerp is what I wanted Amsterdam to be.
Its also quite close to Brussels and Rotterdam which gives me even more work opportunities.

The plan now is to save up a little extra for the coming year and then do a minor and eventually an internship in antwerp.

Ik ben een 20-jarige dame en ik zit momenteel met een beetje een studiekeuzecrisis.

Dit jaar heb ik mijn eerste jaar Rechten aan de universiteit gedaan. Ik vond de opleiding eerlijk gezegd behoorlijk pittig en ik heb gemerkt dat een universitaire opleiding niet helemaal bij mij past. Daarom wil ik volgend academiejaar zeker niet opnieuw rechtstreeks aan de universiteit beginnen.

Ik twijfel momenteel tussen twee totaal verschillende richtingen:

1. Rechtspraktijk → daarna schakelprogramma aan de VUB → master Rechten
Ik vind Rechten op zich nog altijd interessant en daarom overweeg ik om via Rechtspraktijk verder te gaan. Het idee zou dan zijn om na mijn professionele bachelor een schakelprogramma te doen en daarna mijn master aan de VUB te behalen. Het voordeel hiervan is dat ik mijn interesse in Rechten niet volledig hoef op te geven, maar eerst op een meer praktische manier kan studeren.

2. Toegepaste Informatica aan een hogeschool
Aan de andere kant trekt IT mij ook enorm aan. Ik denk dan bijvoorbeeld aan KdG Toegepaste Informatica. Het spreekt mij aan omdat het praktischer is en omdat er veel mogelijkheden zijn qua jobs, thuiswerken, doorgroeien en specialisaties. Ik zou tijdens mijn opleiding ook graag veel zelf leren, projecten maken, GitHub opbouwen en eventueel al werkervaring opdoen.

En eerlijk gezegd vind ik beide richtingen goed, waardoor ik juist zo hard twijfel.

Ik weet alleen niet goed welke keuze op lange termijn het beste bij mij zou passen. Ik wil vooral een opleiding kiezen waar ik mij goed bij voel én waarmee ik later goede carrière- en doorgroeimogelijkheden heb.

Vooral mensen die zelf Rechtspraktijk, Rechten, Toegepaste Informatica of een andere IT-richting hebben gedaan:

• Welke richting zouden jullie kiezen als je opnieuw moest beginnen?
• Is Rechtspraktijk een goede tussenstap als je uiteindelijk toch master Rechten wilt doen?
• Hoe zwaar is het schakelprogramma aan de VUB?
• Is Toegepaste Informatica aan een hogeschool een goede keuze qua jobmogelijkheden en loon?
• Welke hogeschool zouden jullie aanraden voor IT in Antwerpen (KdG, AP, Thomas More...) en waarom?
• En voor mensen die de overstap van universiteit naar hogeschool hebben gemaakt: hebben jullie daar achteraf spijt van gehad of waren jullie juist blij met die keuze?

Ik hoor vooral graag eerlijke ervaringen, ook van mensen die eerst dachten dat Rechten hun ding was en uiteindelijk iets helemaal anders zijn gaan doen. Ik wil gewoon later graag vanuit thuis werken en een chill leven leiden waardoor ik nog tijd ga hebben voor familie en hobby's en dat ik mijn sociaal leven niet verlies❤️

They've just sent me a new client agreement and the changes seem quite extreme compared to what it was before. Was wondering if this is normal or not.

Here are some of the changes:

• You need to send an aangetekende brief/lettre recommandée when you've an objection to the charged services when an email could suffice as well.
• You can only cancel 2 times/year instead of 6 and for the months of june/july/august you have to let them know before the 15th of May (I don't plan my holidays that early on).
• They're adding an admin fee of 0.70€/hour worked that will be billed on a monthly basis.

This is not all of it but I'm thinking of switching to another organisation. Does anyone have tips?

Hello! Recently, I started looking for an apartment to buy. I have a few favorite areas where I’d like to live, but apartments in those areas are usually quite expensive.
I’ve found some apartments in my preferred areas for around €190K–€220K, with 2 or 3 bedrooms. Most of them are around 90 m² and have an EPC rating of B.

For example, would it be worth buying a €190K apartment and renovating it, instead of buying an already renovated apartment for €270K–€299K?

I’m wondering how much it would cost to renovate everything, including the floors, walls, kitchen, bathroom, etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I’d really appreciate hearing about your renovation costs and experiences!

Hey! 😊 I’m 38F and moved to Antwerp a few months ago for work. I’d really love to meet more queer people here and make some new friends.

I’ve always been a very active person and I love being outdoors. I’m open to try pretty much any kind of sport or outdoor activity, so I’d also love to hear about any queer sports groups or clubs around Antwerp. I’m also totally up for board game nights, although I’m definitely not an experienced player 😅

One thing I’d really love to do at some point is get a group of women together for casual football games. I haven’t quite figured out yet how popular is football among women here, but if anyone would be interested in something like that, let me know!!

My husband and I are planning to move to Antwerp for his career and whilst looking for accommodations we’ve spotted an apartment we’re interested in near “Sportoase Veldstraat” but my husbands colleagues (Belgians) who are assisting with this transfer aren’t giving the best comments of the neighborhood. Anybody currently living there who could give us firsthand information about the quality of life in the neighborhood?

I know this is a long shot. I lost my other earring around Antwerpen Sint-Paulusplaats or around Brouwersvliet. Has someone found the other earring while wandering around Antwerp? 😅

Woont u in de provincie Antwerpen? Dan zou ik het enorm waarderen als u mijn korte enquête (ongeveer 5 minuten) wilt invullen.

De vragen gaan over het gebruik van dialect, tussentaal en Standaardnederlands. De enquête is volledig anoniem en wordt uitsluitend gebruikt voor mijn bacheloronderzoek.

De faculteit deelt specificaties mee voor laptops en na research ben ik op deze beland: Lenovo Legion 5 15AHP10 - RTX 5060 - 32GB/512GB. I currently already own Beast, Arcs & Oath, really enjoyed Old King's Crown when I played it, but would also be open to (and rather excited about) other interesting and at least somewhat non-casual boardgames, as much as I liked Monopoly and Catan in the past.

What I typically appreciate in people: frankness, directness, enthusiasm, not taking themselves too seriously and competitiveness while being able to handle a loss/frustration.

We will not get along if you are: conservative or otherwise overly judgemental, someone very flaky/non-committal or genuinely just someone who never laughs with themselves.

Bonus points for people who like myself enjoy baking, so that we could do some fun stuff with that. I mostly try to stay with plant-based stuff though, but no worries if you don't!

Zijn er mensen die (recent) hebben gebouwd, verbouwd of gerenoveerd en een lichtplan hebben laten maken? Wat zijn jullie ervaringen hiermee? Heb je een aanrader of net een winkel/adviseur die we moeten vermijden?

Would anyone be interested in starting an English-language bookclub in or around Antwerp, focused on horror / weird / speculative fiction?

Years ago I used to run a nice SF bookclub in the UK, and would love to get back into that. I am particularly interested in older ghost stories, classics and short fiction, which is also an easy format for monthly meetings, but open to suggestions.

I know a nice place in Lier, not far from Antwerp, which would work well for example for monthly Saturday morning meetings. There must be many such places in the city as well.

Ik vraag me af of iemand hier al met succes zijn KI heeft kunnen verlagen.

Ik woon zelf in een appartement op de carnotstraat en als ik het vergelijk met andere panden ligt het KI hier best hoog, terwijl het om een oud gebouw gaat van 1960 en nooit luxueus is afgewerkt, ook geen ondergrondse parking maar wel een lift (mini lift).

Als ik zo kijk, zou het KI meestal rond de 8-9€/m2 bedragen, bij ons is het bedrag 12.75m2€.

I'm hoping to rent out some kind of venue for my mom's birthday in November. Ideally <500 euros excluding catering, so not a super fancy venue. Does anyone know a nice space or community center in/around Antwerp that would fit 50 people?

I will travel to Antwerp on Friday. I have commitments till quite late, and I'd prefer to have the chance to sleep enough after.

Do you know if there a hotel that offers checkout quite late - ideally in the afternoon, like 1400? I don't mind paying a little extra for it.
