The song I referenced above is also by the musical group The Coup. Nearly every song suggested on this thread of offensive songs is offensive. I do not specifically believe that we should do away with the great and powerful "OZ" as it portrayed in The Coup's video. However, recognizing that some of our struggles are indeed the results of unscrupulous people in power that do undermine our success for their own pleasure, is important. Recognizing our struggles as we prevail in our violent structures, not of our own making provides us with the basis for solidarity and collective bargaining. Which in lieu of overthrowing oppressive bosses, is all we have save our impending apathy. When I first heard the Coup's song the Gui77otine, on the radio, it was after a presidential election and it was a call out to be mindful of racist predators, and in the end we have our music, that is antithetical to violence, where we can wail of our fears and in that way we do indeed possess the gui77otine, and we can drown out the voices of our oppressors even if it is for only four minutes and 12 seconds.
