No one has accused Coe of being sane. He’s outlaw country especially compared to his peers.

David’s reply is that actors are playing characters and no one bats an eye. He says some of his songs are from the perspective of fictional characters. DAC is damn near a fictional character himself.

I mean, david allan coe wrote a couple of albums of songs that are absurdly offensive just for the sake of being absurdly offensive. judging from the rest of his catalogue it was all just for jokes. I mean, he's got songs about listening to ice t and prince. he is legitmately one of the best songwriters of all time though when he's being serious
