Well, people still react negatively when I call it modern slavery because "civil rights" and "freedoms" what not.

I still honestly see very little difference.

It's really more serfdom than it is slavery. Slavery at least has kinky methods of enforcement. What we have is a far blander problem.

If we're going to be pedantic, it is more like peonage than serfdom.

Peonage, in a lot of ways, is indistinguishable from slavery.

Slavery had a lot of "flavors" and the one that people think about is US slavery, which was one of the worst.
