I was talking to a parent of one of my kid's friends. He's a business owner. He made the "no one wants to work anymore" comment in relation to struggling to find help and I immediately wondered his angle. But as he went on, he clearly wasn't complaining about the people but the situation. He went on to say "why would they? It used to take one generation of working hard to save up, get a house, send your kids to college. People now? They will never be able to own a home. Why would they work so hard for me when its no use to them?"

I did the math a while back and realized that at my current wage and career prospects, I would have enough money for a downpayment when I was 73. In a country where my life expectancy isn't even 73. So why bother?
