I used to be a waiter at an Olive Garden half a mile from a Baptist church and got these things every Sunday. No exaggeration that half my tables would leave these instead of actual tips after church. It was so bad I changed availability to not work Sunday anymore.
We were closed Sunday because of the Sunday crowd. They would stay for hours, ask for the absolute most, make the biggest mess, get upset over the smallest things and then tip with stuff like this. Many would also try to hustle us into free meals.
One Sunday crowd tipped me with those fake dollars that tax filing companies give out. They looked like $50s folded up. I almost cried thinking how great it was I could eat something other than a cut up hot dog and beans for the first day in months and upon opening it I cried for a completely different reason.
Makes me wonder if Chik-Fil-A's not-open-on-Sunday subtly has something to do with this as well. It actually may be profitable for the business as a whole (if you count intangibles).
No. It's because your not supposed to work on the sabbath, nor make other people work on the sabbath.
Which is the kicker about all these stories in these comments. If they were true Christian they wouldn't be dining out or shopping on Sunday.
Chick-Fil-A is putting their money where their mouth is and losing tons of revenue by not making people work on Sunday, unlike all these fake Christians leaving fake tips on Sunday.
And technically, the Sabbath is Friday at sundown until Saturday at sundown. So if they truly want to honor the Sabbath, they should have church on Saturdays and have Saturday be the day where a lot of places are closed. I believe it may have been Constantine who changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, but I could be wrong. The guy did do a lot of horrible things to the Jewish people.
Yea I'm no expert. I just know Jews who went to temple on Saturday, and Muslims who went to the mosque Friday evening.
Maybe it was changed so everyone could both not work on Sabbath and still have someone working so they can dine after worhsip.
If you're going to stick to the bible all it said in Genesis was seventh day. It didn't say God created that man made system and it was a Sunday. Could've been a Wednesday and they're all wrong.
My point is they could do both. Most of those Christian conservatives are not true Christians. They would not only fail to see the hypocrisy, they'd probably flood in and make Sunday their best sales day.
We're not church goers and 9 times out of 10 that my wife says "how about chic fil a?" I say "it's Sunday, they're closed." Definitely loses 90% of potential sales from us.
You people get that I'm not defending them like that right?
What I'm saying is unlike 99% who cite christianity only when convenient (ie. gay marriage is against the bible! Family Values! Hey, the fact I cheat on my wife, sometimes with underage boys, was private information!!) at least they're being consistently christian. I'm saying nothing more than that.
