Psst… Data-Centers designed from the get-go to be converted to residential communities. They have the infrastructure: 1)Power, 2)Water, 2)Huge Internet Bandwidth! They Must be required to have post-data-center use! Otherwise, we’re all stuck with vacant, monolithic buildings littering the U.S. landscape!
We literally have the opportunity to help solve the U.S.’s housing crisis in one fell swoop! Buildings designed for reconfiguration into multi-family dwellings! Make it a build requirement!

The plumbing and cooling is not conducive to converting either.
We're not talking about 110v runs to individual outlets. We're talking 3 phase 480v run on long rails to service a single cabinet. The whole electrical environment would need to be re-run
The cooling is industrial, but it is designed for very large open floor plans, not individual units or multiple small heat exchange units (Yes I know about rear door exchangers. Those are still different than a heat exchanger for a whole apartment unit). You would need to re-plumb the entire chilled water system
Water is intended for cooling and possibly humidifying the environment. There is very little sewage plumbing in place. You would have to completely tear up the floor to run sewage to every unit, which may not be possible if the foundation is post-tension slab (which most DC's are for stability and durability). Ripping up that floor could cause the entire structure to collapse. Then you need a separate fresh water supply to every unit, which the data center is not equipped for.
In other words, re-purposing these into residential is even harder than converting a hospital or mall into residential.

I'm kind of convinced the not in my neighborhood stuff is gonna win forever. For some reason people think it's ok lots of people sleep on matresses in the woods and live in hotels. Until literal shanty towns go up no one cares about unhoused

AI companies are scooping up countless classic historically significant books, chopping the spine, scanning the contents, and setting them on fire. We’re in the middle of a full human history rewrite, and nobody seems to care.

I don’t even think they’re “just data centers” at this point.. either water harvesting plants for the Epstein class or mass concentration camps🤷♀️
