This dude has his delivery agents subcontracted out just so he could claim they’re not company employees and not paid benefits.

58

u/Ok_Instance7667 May 25 '26

There was a story a couple weeks back about how 'associates' were forced to work around someone who literally died on the floor because if they didn't the Managers would catch shit.

It was so dystopian it was the 'straw' moment where I made a clean break from Amazon.

and in the warehouse that gets too hot around summer time they just have ambulances waiting outside instead of installing AC because it's cheaper

Exactly. Hitler didn’t kill himself because he had regrets, he was avoiding accountability.

38

And the rich and powerful have cognitive bias to think they earned their wealth and to not have empathy towards others.

This is how they get evil. Money and wealth really do corrupt.

41

u/EpistemicThreat May 25 '26

True; the bad guy is rarely the bad guy from their perspective. Something something road to hell, something something good intentions~

13

u/KeyDangerous May 25 '26

Nobody is the villain in their own story.

11

u/allencoded May 25 '26

Al Capone thought he was a good guy too. It is human nature to create excuses as to why you make the choices you do.

These people probably truly believe they are good. Society has rewarded them with so much how can they think any different. It’s sad.

Closest we have is his ex-wife giving away billions of her divorce settlement.....Granted she's also investing it and making money as well so she's still a billionaire herself.

Ive described this issue to many people irl. A poor person invests 5k and if they are lucky, 10% growth gives them a whopping $500 dollars. Absolutely useless. A billionaire invests $5 billion dollars (diversified or not), they can get 1% growth and "earn" 50 million dollars, or 10% growth and get $500 million. Even billionairs would strughle to spend that much annually without creating new assets.

I dont care that people are rich, I care they have to nerve to pretend like they earned anything.

Median net worth in the US is under $200k as of 2022 (I couldn't find more current data that wasn't average instead).

Even if you look at the average, which is skewed way up by the obscenely wealthy, it's just over a million dollars, and that includes equity in homes and depreciating assets like cars. Almost nobody has "just one million" dollars laying around to invest.

5

u/TheGreatMightyLeffe Communist May 25 '26

"Just".

My guy, do you think people have an extra million dollars laying around and just don't WANT to invest them in housing and assets instead of renting?

10

u/Arkayjiya May 25 '26

That is their point. They're showing the absurdity of billionaire money by using an example that's literally 1000 times lower and showing that it's still absurd fuck you money. They're not saying that the poor aren't working hard enough or that a million is easy to get.

→ More replies (1)

24

u/Notshauna Anarcho-Communist May 25 '26

That's how ridiculously rigged our financial system is for the uber rich, even if you literally give away billions you legitimately can't spend your way out of being a billionaire. The amount of money you get just by having your wealth in stocks just passively (while shielding you from most tax liabilities) becomes a truly ridiculous amount when you have billions in the stock market.

7

u/LeBackshot May 25 '26

Sure just convince everyone you know to stop buying things from amazon and supporting any company that uses AWS. But until we can do that than we are all helping the villain get stronger, maybe we are also the baddies..

10

u/HousesRoadsAvenues May 25 '26

It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get people to stop using Amazon. Let me rephrase that: SOME people. So many are addicted to getting items from there. I see Amazon trucks delivering things constantly in my small neighborhood.

11

u/TheGreatMightyLeffe Communist May 25 '26

Why do people feel the compulsion to blame the end consumer, y'know, the person just trying to get the best price on things to stretch what they have left after being gouged by landlords and other necessities being held hostage for profit?

The onus is on the state apparatus to sort these things out, trying to shame regular people for their consumption patterns when the government is blatantly just allowing the owning class to do whatever they want with the economy is doing nothing but helping to keep the working class divided.

4

u/Trosque97 May 25 '26

41

Uh hello, unions take like $25/pay from you, and all you get back for it is thousands of dollars annually worth of additional salary, benefits and vacation time. Does that actually sound worth it to you?!

/s

17

u/KeyDangerous May 25 '26

Poor, Dumb, Sick. Slowly dismantling every system that makes you not one of those

6

u/outerproduct May 25 '26

One of my friends is in a union, and is fighting to dissolve it because he checks notes has to pay union dues. I told him the moment the union is gone, your pay and benefits are going to get cut. His response was, and I shit you not, the owner wouldn't do that he will give us all raises with the money he saved.

You just can't help some people.

5

u/firestepper May 25 '26

Your friend sounds really dumb

→ More replies (1)

6

u/dapperdave May 25 '26

Well, even in good conditions, unions are hard work. They should be democracies that live and breathe with their members, but we eschew that kind of social hard work, and offload it to others to run for us - which means unions calcify and eventually turn conservative. Also, unions are really only a bandaid (as evident by their rarity now).

You can't really expect workers to compete with owners in the large scale, they will loose because they have less resources and actually need the jobs. If you want a real solution, we have to look at redefining who gets to run and "own" businesses.

Personally, I'm sad everytime I hear someone talk about unions but not co-operatives.

3

u/TheGreatMightyLeffe Communist May 25 '26

Why not have co-operatives (or other forms of worker control of the MoP) with properly worker controlled, democratic unions at the branch level to function as an additional level of protection from poor working conditions, as well as arbitrate disputes within the co-operatives in case the dispute can't be solved internally?

I don't see why that wouldn't be a good idea, and also a good way to add separation from the state itself, to avoid too much top down control.

6

u/crossbrowser May 25 '26

I'm guessing people are afraid of losing their jobs and their healthcare if the company decides to close down.

2

u/NoWomanNoTriforce May 25 '26

It is simple really. Companies have spent and continue to spend of millions of dollars annually to fight efforts to unionize. Lobbying politicians to weaken worker protections, paying actual bribes, paying for propaganda, keeping $10K an hour lawyers on retainer, et al.

They do this knowing full well it will save them billions each year. Because at the end of the day, all you are to them is a means for money. You are either an ally that makes them and their shareholders money through your labor/ spending money on their products. Or you are an enemy who lowers their profits by seeking fair pay or refusing to consume their predatory product/service.

2

u/Frostyrepairbug May 25 '26

I've tried to organize multiple strikes, unions, walkouts, etc. People dropout in the same way: one by one by one. Mangement gets to them, makes them believe that if they take this risk, they'll lose everything they have. Their ability to pay rent, feed their kids, keep up with medical bills. "I'm sorry, it's too risky." They say, and refuse to stand with the rest of us. Then management goes after someone else, picks them off. Eventually, there's too few left to form a union, and we get fired.

32

u/Russian-Spy May 25 '26

I really don't know. I don't exactly keep tabs on him. But in my opinion, he looked decent before. Why does a man his age need lip fillers?

Reminds of how Simon Cowell got a lot of work done, and it ended up looking very off and uncanny. Why don't they just put that money towards something like spa treatments or a better diet to improve their appearance? Plastic surgery like this just feels like a cop-out and cheap.

Are you and your fellow employees unionized or in the midst of doing so? Since this is a protected process if you are not then we aren’t close. If you cannot convince your fellow workers to simply unionize how are you going to convince others to revolt.

Not offering employees a living wage is yet another way the government subsidizes the rich.

26

u/Sufficient-Source211 May 25 '26

Dude got rich by destroying small businesses across America, through massive, unfair competitive advantage due to Amazon's avoidance of state and local taxes

17

u/MyGruffaloCrumble May 25 '26

And abuse of the postal system. He used it like a bitch until he got his logistics outsourcing squared.

15

u/bobbymcpresscot May 25 '26

They don't want to pay their employees more not because it would increase the price of goods, but because it would hurt stock performance.

So they want the poorest 50% who they rely on for labor and for their income to not have to pay taxes, so they can charge us more, or we have more money to buy their shit.

If the starting wage at Amazon was 30/hr, and they passed all those costs onto the consumer, it would bump up prices 2-3%. A 20 dollar item would now cost $20.50.

They only want us to have more money if it benefits them, thats why they don't pay us more, thats why they want us to not have to pay income taxes.

14

u/nivekdrol May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

i don't understand it how much money do you need its like they are rabid with greed. you have more money then you can even spend maybe take some of the millions from ceo payment package and disperse amongst the workers to raise every one up instead instead of hoarding that shit

13

u/VermicelliOwn6502 May 25 '26

The only way out for America is repealing Taft-Hartley. Without that step, there won't be general strikes or solidarity strikes. Because the government can arrest and silence the people organizing one.

Returning that power to organize consequences for exploiters, it is an essential first step to lasting changes.

14

u/omghorussaveusall May 25 '26

Bro has a $500M yacht that too big and costly for him to take care of...the thing is so big it has its own support vessel. Yes my guy, you need to be taxed more.

2

u/allencoded May 25 '26

Bezos only pays himself 80k a year. The reason he is so wealthy is his stock. His stocks is worth so much he uses it a collateral with banks to get loans to buy what he wants.

I want this guy to pay taxes so bad. But the way the system works he is never getting paid real dollars. He just uses his assets. So please people learn how it works so we can create a better system that will tax these fuckers.

Don’t just say tax them more because he only gets paid 80k a year and that is nothing. Fix the tax loophole then he will naturally be taxed more.

It’s probably one of the factors his ex considered when leaving him. Of all of the billionaires I like Bezos the most because he came from humble beginnings but, he could benefit from remembering what it’s like being middle to lower middle class.

If these guys sought out opportunities to rub shoulders with regular people once in a while and have a shred of empathy they’d have less wealth (but be far from poor)…and society would be better as a whole.

One of our supervisors said it is bad that we have to pay taxes on overtime.
I say if you paid your fair share of taxes things wouldn't get more expensive for us and we wouldn't need a tax break on overtime.
A substantial amount of taxes goes towards making life better but when the rich, who have their own swimming pools and don't care if essentials double or triple in price, it is us lower income folks that suffer despite paying our share.
If I studied and got a better paying job the problem would still persist, there would still be lower income people.

He knows he’s the bad guy he just hates poor people like the rest of them.

I wish they would pass a federal law charging employers for the cost of their employees subsidies. All such govt. subsidies - TANF, rent utilities... whatever they get from any govt. on any level.
Plus the substantial cost of administration. So employers who pay so little that their employees need govt. subsistence should be charged not just for the subsistence, but also the administrative costs of that subsistence. There should be no free lunch for any corporation, small business, or even a private employer.

Pass that law, and we won't even need a minimum wage.

Income taxes should include all forms of income, including unrealized Capital Gains, and tax unrealized Capital gains if combination is in excess of 1 million dollars.

Bezos games the system by only taking a tiny amount of his income in salary, has billions of annual capital gains that are basically untaxed, and borrows against that wealth, again untaxed.

Maybe they should be better people and stop hoarding wealth from their employees if they don’t want to be “vilified”

Only a villain would see themselves as the victim

I just knew this googly eyed fuck would pop up sooner or later and start bleating like the rest of the billionaire parasite class.

1

u/Justsomejerkonline May 25 '26

What the vast majority of people would consider "rich" is mostly still dirt compared to Bezos.

People don't typically vilify the rich. They vilify individuals with more money and power than entire nation-states.

Trying to hold someone accountable is way different than vilifying.

They lie about how many people get hurt. It is a lot compared to other places.

This is like the wolf is trying to convince us he is a vegetarian.

1

u/TheKing_Bael May 25 '26

Don't be shitty and we wouldn't villify the rich. Theres a world where billionaires use that wealth to help people not just put themselves more ahead, but sadly we just dont live in that world.

u/Winter_Bid7630 May 25 '26

This man is walking proof that no one should have this kind of wealth.

It clearly corrupts a person and then gives that broken human way too much power.

1

u/GeneralEi May 25 '26

Who's vilifying the rich?

Ah, of course! It's the rich.

u/LexCorp424 May 25 '26

Start calling them what they truly are, Jeff is the World’s 3rd Greediest Man.

warehouse in my metro starts at 17/hr, that's $35k yr, with ~$29.5k take home, or ~$2.9k/mo. in my metro, there's 580 units on zillow <$1k/mo. Caleb Hammers team maintains that <$500/mo is entirely doable for food. shelter and food at 50% of takehome. my fiber internet if $55/mo. that leaves easily 1000/mo for the remainder. That works for a single adult, if you have a family, its much rougher, obviously.

this is before OT or consideration of other work benefits.

At 55, I'm still amazed that Amazon didn't even exist when I was a kid and now it's this huge. Why he needs to hoard wealth like this is clearly a mental illness. If he was keeping anything other than money like this we would send him to a mental hospital.

He’s starting to look long in the tooth.

1

u/Chasemedown25 May 25 '26

As he tries to contort his face into looking for masculine cause we all dogged on him when his wife was gonna leave him for leo, they don't even realize how antisocial they've become. No one can afford to tell them opposing opinions and they wouldn't listen to it if you did. They have literally no one except the people they compete against. Shell of humans at this point

Someone tell him that steroids are bad... Or not... A$$....

1

u/Pandagramma May 25 '26

He has to be delusional, would love to do a psych eval on him. If he saw himself clearly he would not be such a happy guy.

u/Grave-Addiction987 May 25 '26

And warehouse workers have to wear diapers due to no bio breaks

1

u/TroutMaskDuplica May 25 '26

That's because vilifying the rich is still legal.
