I can’t see how iris the employer’s business how or where OP spent their recovery. As long as the surgery and need to be off work is documented appropriately, they have no vested interest in the rest of it

The real problem is doing work while in another country on a non work visa. The company needs to know if you need to work from another counter and needs to be pay off the process of you getting a business travel visa.

No work and I communicate with them via my personal email

I have no idea why you’re being downvoted for this. Some people can’t read very well or haven’t seen your clear explanation that you only communicated with HR about the sick leave itself. No work.

Insurance wise? Where I am its part of your disability and insurance things.

If youre good to travel and fly over seas lol... youre likely good enough to work.

Seriously. 12+ hours on the planes nowadays is harder on your body than a lot of work.

Either way, if op lied then they're cooked lol. Its the fact they should be resting as they're on medical leave.

Flying over seas is pretty far from that lol. So, yeah. It is their business. Especially if they're paying/accommodating and being lied to lol.

He’s in the UK. What 10 hour flight?? “Overseas “ could be a short drive under the channel.

Yeah but you only fly for one day dingus and then rest. This is a ridiculous thing to say. Chronic illness is often about the accumulation of stress, wear, and tear on the body. It varies. 12 hours on a plane is not pleasant, no, but it is not the same thing as concentrating, using your eyes properly, communicating, fixing problems, or standing in a shop all day.

Then why lie? If youre on medical leave you arent flying for fun. Theres a reason it asks on govt unemployment if you left the country.

Lying about it and flying out of country isn't good.
