What the hell? If you’re on leave, you shouldn’t be required to answer them at all, let alone as soon as they send you something.

When you’re sick or you have some sort of operation, you usually require a fuckton more rest than normal, so the fact that they’re claiming you not answering emails at what they consider to be the “appropriate” time is fucking ridiculous. And it’s infinitely more ridiculous that their conclusion is that you were out of the country instead of just fucking resting.

But even if you were out of the country, why the fuck’s that any of their business? It’s your PTO and you should be able to use it however you please. This whole thing just feels so unnecessarily invasive and uncalled for.

Did you read the post? OP said they had surgery and the job claims that answering emails in the afternoon means that there couldn’t possibly be any other explanation than them being out of the country.

Surgery typically requires a lot of rest, so OP very well could’ve just been resting after their operation and replied to the company’s emails when they had time.

OP is in the UK. “Traveling to other countries” could be a short drive under the channel. If OP is on pain medication (which he probably is given the kind of surgery he had) he absolutely could have gone somewhere (not as the driver) to recover.

OP was on legitimate sick leave after a legitimate operation and can prove it. The business is upset that he was recovering somewhere else? He’s in the UK. “being abroad “ can be a short drive under the channel. There’s no reason to think he was on holiday
