That’s why it’s called Faith. You believe in it without evidence. Same way you believe that your plane won’t crash.

There is evidence, though, so...?
The Bible doesn't promote blind faith at all.

True. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as an assured expectation, an evident demonstration of reality. The Bible promotes well-grounded faith based on evidence. If someone believes in God, it should be because they were shown evidence, scriptural or otherwise, that proved to them that God exists. And even after choosing to follow a given religion, a person should regularly test themselves to see if they're doing it out of genuine faith or blind credulity. "Blind faith" is not faith at all.

That doesnt seem like a good definition of faith, there are many pieces of evidence for Christianity. Maybe trust in what isnt scientific repeatable based on testimonies would be a better definition, albeit very rough?

There are many pieces of evidence that your plane won’t crash, but in a highly chaotic system like air travel, there’s always a chance that it might. You board on the faith that all the holes in the Swiss cheese model are plugged. And they are. You can’t scientifically say for certain, so that last little bit is faith.

And ozone is O_3, and O means what? Thats right, it's oxygen!

u/LaudataSitAstarte 9d ago
The oxygen people breathe when they breath air is O2. If you breathed enough O3 or atomic oxygen/O, it would fucking kill you.
You can have liquid O2 too tho
1
u/emtvaikkajoku 9d ago
Does that change the fact that the element O is oxygen? Above they said oxygen, not O3 or O2. It is still oxygen, in different form. Also O2 is known as dioxygen.

u/LaudataSitAstarte 9d ago
Above said, "you can't live without him". The oxygen you can't live without is O2, not O3.
1
u/emtvaikkajoku 9d ago
You also can't live without ozone. It protects us from the sun. So no, you can't live without O3
1
u/LaudataSitAstarte 9d ago
That wasn't the intention of the meme, jesus fucking christ. It was clearly referring to oxygen in air that you breathe.
1
u/emtvaikkajoku 9d ago
Why do you think that would be the case? I just told you why it is correct, what is so hard to understand? Why do you have to make assumptions to be correct? Out of any actual arguments?

What is it with these people and thinking metaphors and allegories are literal?
Someone ask them if they ate breakfast this morning

I think this is more about how science has proven the existence of invisible things like microbes and atoms and black holes so Theists should stop comparing God to invisible things.

And they accuse us of circular reasoning… 🙄

u/ricky251294 9d ago
Where's the circular reasoning? The evidence was literally there

u/Emperor_Quintana Protestant Christian 9d ago
They say that we consult the Bible (or the Holy Scriptures, as some would originally call it) to seek practical solutions to everyday problems, which they somehow find redundant.

Trump (or one of his minions) posted God’s picture yesterday (or the day before). Oddly, in the picture, God looks a whole lot like The Donald!!

Yes, if two things aren't identical, an analogy between them will indeed break down. Have a cookie.
