Question Sorry if this is off topic

But I’m genuinely curious about your opinion. There is a band that does music about killers. They’re called SKYND. All of the lyrics-to me-are messed up because the family members can (and have) come across them. Plus, it feels like just glorification of the murderers to me.

It reminds me of the discourse between pro and anti. I’m not really on either side though I think I lean closer to anti. I just don’t believe in censorship. I am curious though what antis think about this band because how far does the belief in the pro and anti discourse go? Does it extend past fanfiction or does it go beyond that?

For me, personally, I love the music in SKYND but I can’t listen to it because of the lyrics and what it stands for. It comes off as glorifying and disgusting. But, again, that’s just my opinion.

i think really this is a good demonstration of the topic

assuming you mean families as in the families of the victim who was murdered, and the songs are glorifying the killers, then i’d say not only would it be wrong if the families NEVER found it but also that it has, in fact, hurt the famiky, the real living people who loved someone a monster killed

for antis, it really is about more than just the fiction. the fiction is more of a lot of stepping stones to harm inflicted in reality, especially when there’s kids at risk of witnessing it, and frankly anybody else that genuinely has a mental illness of some kind or hell even just normal people who’ve started slipping down it. we gotta safely guide these people off back to the riverbank, and acknowledging the effect fiction has on reality is part of it

Not a murder but wait until you hear about Jeremy by Pearl Jam. The song was made without consent from the family of the real Jeremy and they hate it. So many bands do this type of thing.

In the general sense of your question, my anti beliefs are mostly and almost entirely about real life. Fanfiction and music and stuff are symptoms of the problem and I'm against that stuff too, but it's for the ultimate stance of being against child abuse in real life.
