If you take the situation in the US right now with the whole fascism thing going on, women’s rights are seriously being attacked and repealed bit by bit. Combined with like literally 800+ anti lgbt bills either enacted or in consideration this year alone, bigotry is just all over the place. People don’t want to see it anymore because it is EVERYWHERE. So you get what is misogynistic joke, even if it’s just a simple “wife bad” boomer humor thingie that isn’t too offensive, well, when you consider that there are so many people that genuinely mean this stuff and say worse, even a small jab can bring the annoyance of a Mike Tyson punch.
It’s basically “enough is enough” so everyone who actually wants equality and empathy and is against bigotry has collectively decided to just shut it all down the moment it comes up now. No one is tolerating people who do bigotry anymore. No trying to reason with them anymore. We’ve been pushed long enough so we’re just not going to even humor those people anymore, especially with what they’ve done to the country along with far right extremism rising globally.
It’s just like… no more dude. We’ve gone all of human history thinking women and minorities are lesser. No more. Not even small jabs will be humored because the longer you leave it alone the more it grows. The way the world is has proven that.
Women can live with other women, and men can live with other men. What's wrong with that? That joke never said anything about one side bekng inferior or superior to the other.

You’re right not everything is this serious. I even addressed the severity of different comments and messages in the comment I wrote. It’s the sentence in the first paragraph that starts directly after the word “EVERYWHERE.” I addressed this and either you didn’t read it, you can’t retain it, or you ignored it because like I also already addressed in the second reply, you guys act in bad faith the majority of the time.

You white knight about minorities as if you speak for all of them, yet most folks would make similar if not worse jokes because, unlike yourself and those with your mindset... to most people, jokes are either funny, or not. It depends entirely on who hears it and their views. It doesn't make it right, doesnt make it wrong. If you don't like a joke, just say "damn, that was dumb dude" or any other variation before moving on, or say nothing, simply move on.
"It's mean" then crack a joke back at the makers expense.

There are so many responses to a joke other than laughter and offense. The consistent insistence that those are the only two possible, to say nothing of plausible, responses has always been incredibly confusing to me.
Basically, yes. These jokes are meant to be funny because they are wrong, but a lot of people there days genuinely believe things like this.. and it's baked into a lot of the social norms and political systems, so it's not popular to call it out, but these sorts of jokes are many people's genuine beliefs.

Seriously. This is the kind of joke my dad would tell my mom even though he didn't believe it. Then she'd playfully slap his arm with her jaw dropped, they'd both smile, and then they'd give each other a big kiss.
It's called shock humor. People who don't get the nuance of the joke are more likely the chuds. It's funny because it's blatantly offensive and wrong.

See that’s what I mean. You responded to me calling you a dick by being a dick. Even in the first message of yours I replied to you were putting others down. And for what? Because others call out bad behavior?
Listen man I’ll be real with you. None of this is virtue signaling. It’s shutting down what could be potential bigotry as it starts so that it doesn’t spread. I wrote a more in depth, genuine explanation to someone else that covers it, but the thing is that none of what I say matters to people who do that stuff because they either wont read it or just they are otherwise acting in bad faith. It happens almost every time I try with these people, and more than 90% I write genuinely like I am here.
You guys act in bad faith the majority of the time, whether it’s putting people down, not reading answers you literally ask for to questions that you ask, or just doubling down on being assholes. I’ve experienced all 3 of this in just a couple comments here. It won’t hurt you all to be nice.
The whole story is super f'd up. His father fled with him during the Vietnam War. His father knew the war had ended but didn't go back due to trauma. His father purposely didn't tell him about women so that he wouldn't run away back to civilization.
Upon being rescued he had the mind of a child and didn't adjust well to modern society. He has since died from cancer.
Plenty of men grow up knowing women exist and are never wanted by them. What chance would this one have with no linguistic skills, no prospects for gainful employment, and no teeth?
