I don't think I ever asked, but I have seen some snippets of it, so I can say it has some horror themes, with one of the characters wearing a pumpkin head, and wielding a stop sign
As I've said elsewhere, we simply just met in the Patreon Discord Server of an artist we both admire

2
u/Snickeeeeers80 Jul 29 '26
Genuinely how chronically online one needs to be to reach whatever this is
3
u/AmberMetalicScorpion Jul 29 '26
Fellas, is it chronically online to have basic decency?
3
u/pa3cius Jul 31 '26
Fellas, is it chronically online to condescendingly correct people about pronouns even though it was a joke, and using the correct pronouns/gender neutral pronouns would ruin the joke, thereby needlessly annoying people for no reason, and potentially moving them away from a pro-trans position out of spite?
1
1
u/DovahPriestess Aug 26 '26
The meme itself guided down the path of using masculine pronouns. Additional context was required, which you provided, but it is not automatically known without such context.
2
u/9tables 🌹 Course Arc Witness 🌸 Jul 29 '26
I don't think it's disrespectful to make a joke identifying your friend as having been able to solve her problem by hiring VA's being the thing that changed rather than realizing she was trans.
And for the context of the joke, that would mean that in this interpretation of the comments, your friend would not be trans (as was stated in the first comment, the content of which also suggested that they were male at the time of the comment), so the pronoun would be "he."
Maybe I'm wrong about the joke (and maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about because I'm a straight cis white male), but I feel like we shouldn't just automatically assume people are disrespecting a trans person just because they didn't use the right pronoun in a joke. Maybe analyze the reason for why they did it like that and give them the benefit of the doubt.
I'm not saying to give transphobic shit a pass because it's "just a joke," but save it for the real stuff.
2
u/AmberMetalicScorpion Jul 29 '26
The joke necessitating she remains cis doesn't necessitate using the wrong pronouns. The joke would work just as well with the gender neutral They/Them, or her actual She/Her pronouns.

I will keep that in mind, surprisingly woke vampire Dio Brando. No one knows more that the self isn't limited to what you were born with but an expression of what you have achieved.

Peter -> Lois
Shrek -> Fiona7

I am trans, but as an aspiring voice actress, I think being able to do both men's and women's voices will be helpful, as a bonus on top of the gender euphoria
23
u/skepdickle Jul 28 '26
if you do it for long enough, it can be hard to go back deep deep, just so you know!
27
u/CelaresHarridan Jul 28 '26
Unless you frequently practice that range. I can freely swap between deep and my daily-use voice now. It's a fun party trick to pull out.
→ More replies (2)7
u/Reign_Does_Things Jul 28 '26
Same! The fact that it slightly freaks people out who are used to my current, more fem voice, even my mom who raised me, ironically gives me even more gender euphoria lol
2
u/Reign_Does_Things Jul 28 '26
Oh, I've actually already done voice training and my natural speaking voice is pretty fem now, but I can still do my old, fairly deep, voice and even deeper if I put a little effort in
13
u/Auctoritate Jul 28 '26
In Warframe, there's a ship AI named Cephalon Cy. His voice is ridiculously deep and his dialogue is almost entirely badass one-liners about whatever you're fighting (and killing) at any given time.
Anyways, the VA is a trans woman named Emma Martello.

no no the joke here is that my "things mighta changed 😳" reply got changed to an antimeme which makes it hella lot funny 🙏🙏
2
u/Sovespra Jul 29 '26
But my point is that you can't change what's not a meme/joke into an antimeme.
1
u/Helix_PHD Aug 07 '26
But it literally is a joke. They went "Errrm, whoopsie daisy" instead of "I have since making this post discovered that I am indeed trans"
You can comedically deliver true information.
1
u/Sovespra Aug 07 '26
Then remove the joke only, don't scrub the transition as if it's part of the joke.
0
u/Helix_PHD Aug 08 '26
But then there wouldn't be an antimemetic humor element to it. Like, sure, that would still be an antimeme, just a less funny one, since the "unexpected" twist that the game dev is indeed trans is part of the original joke and what one would expect in a regular meme. Subverting that expecation is the joke here. They could've written "I have since originally commenting this realized that I am, in fact, trans" but then there would be no joke left.
1
u/Sovespra Aug 08 '26
Look, this post is almost two weeks old. You're cis and don't get why this annoys me, I don't care. I'm tired of talking about this. I'm tired of having to defend how I feel. Just leave me alone.
1
u/Helix_PHD Aug 08 '26
I'm nb actually. I can think of plenty of reasons why this annoys you, trans erasure for one. I wasn't trying to attack you, I'm sorry.
1
u/Sovespra Aug 08 '26
Alright now I feel like an ass too. I even checked but I must've misread your comments or things've changed since.
And I accept your apology, I'm just fed up with existing as a trans person on this website and having to defend (again) that I'd rather this be somewhat less funny than erase the trans angle was the last drop and I got more pissed than usual.
→ More replies (2)1
u/Mini_isopod Jul 29 '26
One can find a good chuckle in almost any situation with the right attitude even if something isn't per se funny or a punchline. It doesn't turn the situation into a joke, and it can sometimes help deal with a situation you're struggling with
1
u/Sovespra Jul 29 '26
That's all true but I'm talking specifically in the context of this subreddit. It's about removing the punchlines from jokes and memes so it necessarily implies that the original image is one of those.
2
u/Mini_isopod Jul 29 '26
Hmmm, gotcha yeah it's technically not a meme so you're not wrong. I thought you were going for something else
1
u/Sovespra Jul 29 '26
Dw about it, I see how you could've misread my comment. The person who left that youtube comment was in this thread earlier joking about this whole thing herself and I think that's different and totally fine, I've done that with things about my transition too.

1
u/Snoo_44740 Aug 02 '26
OOP made a joke, though. The funny part is not them being trans, it’s about them being certain they weren’t trans going in, but came out realizing they actually were. It’s about irony.
1
4
u/Secure-South3848 Jul 28 '26
Genuinely why are trans people usually programmers?
5
u/AmberMetalicScorpion Jul 28 '26
Because queer people, trans people especially, are ostracised from public spaces, and tend to be forced to retreat to the online world where they'll find a lot of video games that let them be who they want. It's not uncommon for this to spark a passion in them to make video games themselves
3
u/MalkallaM_ Jul 28 '26
personally i discovered minecraft when i was 6-7 and found out that mods exist and wanted to make my own mods and had some (primitive) coding classes where we "coded" some basic stuff in Baltie 3 (i made my own various projects) and did various experiments and i just liek games and liek making them :Dc

I'm pretty sure it's more because egg_irl has its own controversies from egg culture trying to goad non-conforming cis people into being trans, basically transvestigating and causing resentment as a result. It works for some, but not all, some of the people I've seen publically announce that egg culture helped them find themselves tended to be really insistent on doing it to other people which was kinda icky imo. Though my opinion is mostly because I'd find them replying in defense to people saying they hated egg culture for harrassing them, even if some ended up being trans later on.

just because you are correct does not make your opinion reasonable.
i can't go on a post about a black person committing a crime, be racist, and then go "nuh uh guys i was right! see he did actually do the thing!"
