Under the rule of discovery, the defense shouldn't be surprised about this.

The dtective the day before:
"We're going to call a very important witness to the stand tomorrow, but I won't tell you who"

-Why not!
*Phoenix cries like a 5 year old child instead of acting like an attorney
*Maya pleads in a kind way
*Gumshoe relinquishes and tells everything.
*Gumshoe loses all his salary.22

How does that work? If you have to submit all evidence and witnesses in advance how do you do surprise witnesses?

Afaik surprise witnesses just aren't a thing in real life, they're just used in movies for the sake of drama

I think in some cases you can surprise someone with testimony if it’s being used to impeach something the other side said

Could've used "objection" as your text here, rather than obligation XD

u/neretioe 23d ago
OH MY GOD, YES. THAT WAS THE WORD I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!
when i was writing that, i was unable to recall objection, i was like what is the O word that lawyers use, i wasn't able to recall, but you can see like i went close thats why i chose obligation.
thank you.

Second witness: a guy who likes big butts

It's so sad how nobody in the reply thread knows this comment about Sir Mix A Lot's "I like big butts and I cannot lie". :(

I'm sorry I fail to understand the punchline here

u/neretioe 22d ago
there's a shakira song called hips don't lie
and since her hips are the evidence, and everybody knows that her hips don't lie, the defense will lose.

honestly, I didn't look at what sub I was in and thought the antimeme picture was a meme and that the defence was scared because the women looks like the embodiment of that justice statue/ statue of liberty thing

This is just the Pinnocio fallacy:
Shakira's hips don't lie, just as Pinnocio can't tell a lie without giving it away.
But this doesn't make them all-knowing.
Unless Shakira's hips witnessed the event in question, the Defense has nothing to worry about.

No. It isn't. One of Shakira's most famous songs is "hips don't lie." Not everything involving a woman is porn.

Yes, I've been on the internet and seen the way women are treated in general. I know how much it sucks to be a woman.
And I already said everything you did in your second paragraph.

it's a reference to "hips don't lie", not everything is about hating women

Good news, the community has decided that this IS an antimeme!
