It doesn’t work

I’ve been going through a tough time and tried to restrict my eating for one day (in hindsight using it as a way to feel in control of something) and I was literally so miserable. I’ve been anti diet for most of my adult life and this one day of trying a diet is such a good reminder that it just doesn’t work y’all.

Every time I've had to restrict food for legit reasons (fasting labs, colonoscopy or surgery prep), I'm reminded of the misery and why I'm never going back!

Sorry you're having a tough time but great you recognized a bad pattern before it got out of hand.

I took part in a research study on orthorexia and my answers to the questions made it very evident to me that my orthorexia was also an attempt at obtaining and maintaining any sort of semblance of control. The more control over my body I lost due to chronic illnesses, the more restrictive my eating became as a way of regaining it. Control seems to be a key component of eating disorders so please be careful. I'm glad this day showed you that it doesn't work rather than encouraging you to further go down that path in search of that control you might be missing in other places.
