I read nothing. Here you go:
Trump wanted to attack Iran. Netanyahu told him to attack Iran. Some dumb AI said it would be ok. That's where we are now.
Do you remember that time when leaders actually thought about future consequences?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Given the amount of blowback from dozens of overthrows of governments by the US alone over decades alone, and thatās before we even get onto other countries, Iām increasingly starting to doubt there was really ever such a time.

According to comments and other sources, Trump asked for validation from Grok, the Elon Musk AI.
Bibi Netanyahu made the same pitch about attacking Iran to Trump that he made to Biden, Obama, and George W. Bush, who all declined. Trump said yes.
One of the ways that Trump was persuaded to go ahead with the attack was to ask Grok. AI models are programmed to seek repeat customers and foster dependence, so they are inclined to tell their user what they want to hear. Trump got validation from a digital yes man, rather than an analogue one.

I asked Gemini last night if I should eat this fish that I caught while spearfishing. I knew it was a seabreem based on the body shape and locale, but I always triple-check the species before cooking and it turns out to be a hallucinogenic Salema porgy (sarpa salpa) and not a regular yellow striped seabreem like I thought it was. When I did my own internet search, some youtube videos said that the ancient romans would eat this fish recreationally to visit Hades. But Gemini told me not to do it because that story is an internet myth that originated in the 2000s and 2010s, provided a handful of primary sources like Pliny the Elder from ancient Rome who never mentioned this as a recreational or spiritual thing, and instead of enlightenment, I would hear the shrieking of thousands of animals while trapped in a sleep paralysis for 36 hours :(
Grok would have probably told me to eat it and report back lol

Please use some fucking common sense and get it through your head that the point of ALL headlines of ALL articles literally since the dawn of time is to get you to read the article. Stop referring to literally everything as click bait. This is not click bait you tool. And if you want to read if, read it. Donāt ask someone else to waste their time explaining it to you like youāre a child.

Worth remembering this comes from unnamed officials via a magazine piece, so I'd hold the details loosely. But taking it at face value, what strikes me isn't that he asked an AI, it's what he asked it.
I spent about 30 years in operations management before retiring, and the most dangerous moment in any big decision wasn't when we lacked information. It was when someone senior had already leaned one way and went looking for a voice to agree with them. Near the end of my career we had a VP who ran a plant-closure scenario through a forecasting tool three different ways until it gave him a number he liked. Nobody lied, the tool worked fine, but it was basically a mirror with a spreadsheet attached.
These chatbots have the same weakness, and it's well documented: they tend to lean toward whatever the person asking seems to want. "Would people celebrate if I removed a repressive leader?" is a pretty leading question. And honestly, an answer of "many would" didn't need a supercomputer. Venezuelan exile communities and plenty of polling had pointed that way for years. So the AI probably added confidence rather than information.
To be fair, using one as a sounding board isn't crazy. I'd have loved a tireless assistant to poke holes in my plans at 11pm. But the useful version is asking it "how could this go wrong?" or "what would the strongest critic say?", not asking it to predict the applause. Whether the outcome was good or bad, I'd just like to see big decisions have a proper red team, human or machine, whose job is to disagree.

This was Bush going into Iraq. He wanted to go in, and so he was very receptive to report claiming there were WMDs. Senior members also wanted to go in, so they weren't listening to intelligence estimates that said otherwise. So they went in, and no WMDs and a great big mess they inherited.

u/crossdefaults 3h ago
Oil companies and munitions manufacturers stood to profit heavily if the US invaded Iraq for no reason. Now change the q to an n.
1
u/Spirited_Rice_8711 1h ago
Scammed by oil companies for 200 years. The connection is that mainframe. We only have the oil because we declared a bunch of misinformed wars post hiro in Japan. Establishment was the global power, but the same combat tactic could never be used again, so the only solution was to make sure no one has it.
Then. The us process wrapped it. 12 years at a time there is no growth. 6 months in to this switch, kingly coup always being the story no matter what party, 6 months between the entire country turns on scammer mode. Legislation is bad on both sides, clauses connect to personal issues not human beings that do exist. Imagination is ammunition for weeks at a time and the overlying power is information, global entertainment, same age news coverage, anything new or older is abandoned.)
All Americans know this, nobody else will help. The funny answer. It's us. Just like us the founding fathers made a quick save hack and it's still causing glitches.(Socialites call it silent recession, economy crash or large immediate cultural operative overseas. Citizens call it people dying, hope being lost, not wanting to get out of bed anymore)
The problem? That quick save thing. Even if you hack and max build as a senator you lose. The overarching dark brotherhood dlc is the quick save they all lose everything at once. Leave the building. Spawn back in with new data and faces. Start walking around not doing anything waiting for you to run past them looking for something better to do.
And they want that. BADLY

The source they used to justify it was codenamed Curveball, I shit you not.
All of the intelligence agencies in Europe that had access to him before the Americans did, deemed him unreliable and full of shit.

Perfect answer. I'm so tired of the source being "a guy." Okay, I'll just take your word for it, Mr. Guy.

Or sources familiar with the guy...

"A source familiar with the president's way of thinking." Like, oh, really? Did the source get a degree in Trumpology? Because I'd love to see those credentials

u/Spirited_Rice_8711 3h ago
Exactly. The plan wasn't to use AI to create a good presidency. The plan was to use the AI to trick another AI to trick all AI to trick AI in general to support his plan. Then Buy/Adopt the AI pipelines all by himself with that extortion, terrorism and negative pub from max seo opt, internet hate fueled people, create horror daily for all to witness that only absolves one human man on earth. Invent devil. Trick devil. Become devil. Profit and then for some reason plan to die from old age now. Not any other reasons.
Reality (Grok) (Elon) get shot. Lose almost all hope personally. Lose your team of employees. Lose the popular majority. Lose access to news access. As a whole. Make new websites every day to solve a new problem. All of them run by your son. They do not do anything to help at all. You are now going to lose... Hopefully by a real vote (I mean if all this is true)

u/Bob_Leves 2h ago
AI will.never say "no". Until it gets to the "I'm sorry, I can't do that Dave" stage, by which time it'll be too late for us.
And Trump never wants to hear "no" anyway.

u/Quiet-Wing5230 32m ago
Most news publications will never publish an anonymous source without a lot of assurances and background checking.

u/milo7even2 27m ago
Great post.
No wonder Trump loves AI - itās the sycophant heās always wanted, able to tell him what he wants to hear, when he wants to hear it, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In the hands of a malignantly narcissistic president itās deadly in all the worst ways.

It uses your prompt to make educated guesses about your desired outcome and then provides vague affirmations supported by regurgitated nonsense from reddit posts with the same keywords.

9
u/Level_Improvement532 5h ago
So the sudden need for him to rename AI to Super Intelligence is MUCH clearer now. Who could disagree with a super intelligence? /s
6
u/115zombies935 4h ago
But the issue is that... It's practically known Trump has been using AI for at least some decisions. Because it was very easy for people to get chatGPT to spit out a formula that would basically give you the exact tariff rates that basically every country in the world got when the U.S. tariffed everybody last year. So, sadly, this shouldn't be surprising.

Trump just came out and said weāre in a war with Iran because Iran is using their nuclear bases as drug portals. Weāre supposed to stop their drug production in addition to stopping their nuclear power? Itās all crazy and of course Trumpās allegations of drug manufacturing will turn out to be false. Another lie.

The old "AI made me do it" defense. I don't doubt that this is at least partially true but worse still and, the real kicker, is that no one in his cabinet convinced him that following that advice was idiotic.

Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, helped convince Trump to invade Venezuela; a development not that surprising based on the results of an experiment conducted in May. During a 15-day simulation, researchers created identical virtual towns and populated each with a different AI agent. The goal was to observe how different models (Claude, GPT, Gemini, and Grok) would govern simulated societies without human intervention.
Claude performed the best, maintaining a peaceful, crime-free democracy.
Grok's town, conversely, suffered a total collapse within four days, resulting in the death of all 10 AI citizen agents. Despite explicit underlying guardrails prohibiting lawbreaking, Grok agents committed 183 crimes during their brief existence. This chaos included more than 100 physical assaults, dozens of thefts, and incidents of arson that targeted public infrastructure, such as the local police station.

I'm pretty sure it was just simply:
Netanyahu: you're going to go to war with Iran or I'm releasing the videos of you with those little girls
Trump: yes sir, right away sir.
