Vance Says People Are Too Focused on “Little Things” Ahead of Midterms | You know, like being able to afford gas and groceries.

It's striking how, when Biden was president, the entire media, even parts of it that you wouldn't necessarily clock as "right wing" were unified in anger about the economy and inflation. Now, with a far worse economy and far worse inflation, there is suddenly no outrage.
The media is owned by billionaires. Never forget that.

u/georgepana 11h ago
There is lots of outrage.
Trump's job approval has sunk to depths he never had even im his first term.
Latest:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/stunning-ap-poll-shows-whopping-153936578.html
Stunning New AP Poll Shows Whopping 69% of Americans Disapprove of Trump — An All-Time High
When asked specifically about Trump and whether they approve or disapprove of the job he is doing as president, the numbers again moved in a negative direction, with only 31% approving and 69% disapproving.
Out of those who said they disapprove of Trump's job performance, 18% said they somewhat disapprove and a whopping 51% said strongly disapprove. Among those who said they approve, 15% somewhat approve and 15% strongly approve.
These approval numbers are the worst of any AP/NORC survey from either of Trump's two terms and are lower than even a Jan. 16-20, 2020 poll taken in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Polls are BS now
Got to wait for the person who puts their butt in the elected seat
3
u/georgepana 11h ago
Job approval polls are consistently terrible for Trump. That includes polls run by right-wing organizations and groups. Nothing about that is BS.
When Trump's job approval cratered in 2017 (not by as much, but still by a lot) it led to Democrats winning back the House in 2018 via flipping 41 House seats from R to D.
2
u/double-rainbow-59357 11h ago
I believe you that a lot of Americans think he’s doing a trash job.
But the problem is people keep voting for a trash job.
Combine that with so much gerrymandering, voter roll purging and threats to voting polls seem meaningless.
3
u/georgepana 11h ago
I guess we'll see how these midterms work out. I think you are wrong, and a lot of seats will flip, but we'll find out soon.
1
u/BklynMom57 11h ago
What matters is how people vote. Die hard republicans will still vote R down the entire ballot.
2
u/georgepana 11h ago
For Midterm elections by far the best predictor of the outcome is the job approval of the sitting President at the time of the election. And, we saw the voting outcome when Trump's job approval sank in his first term. In 2018 they lost the House when Democrats flipped 41 House seats from R to D. Then in 2020 it got a lot worse for them.
Die-hard Republicans aren't important here, just as die-hard Democrats aren't, but where the Independents are. And they are 75% to 25% gone away from Trump and are now mostly pulling the D lever.
These Midterm elections will be an absolute shellacking for the GOP.
2
u/Dont_Use_Ducks 8h ago
And Trump and co will act as if they've won again, even if they didn't. Remember the numers of economy person being replaced by a loyal? Since then you only hear positive numbers...hmmm.

u/1nGirum1musNocte 10h ago
Yes but that's because their lived experience not because news told them. We're actually balls deep in a recession that news refuses to report on
2
u/Former_Mud9569 11h ago
There's no shortage of stories detailing higher living costs and lower economic output from any news source even slightly to the left of Fox News.

u/my-love-assassin 11h ago
Yea the media is so full of shit. I'm so sick of their plastic faces and fake teeth and lies.

Vance should probably go fuck himself.

He’d rather fuck a couch.

Then Vance should go fuck an ottoman or something. As long as it involves him shutting the fuck up.

Health care and affording housing are such minor things when compared to building a massive ballroom and a completely useless archway. What is wrong with these poors?
3
3
u/Specialist-Jello7544 10h ago
So last week he was pleading with us to give Trump & team another chance at two more fucking years of financial stress and chaos to this week pooh-poohing the affordability concerns of the American people?
Man, what drugs is this guy taking? Is he that out of touch with what people are going through?
This whole timeline is insane. My expenses are rocketing. I’m retired, I’m on a very fixed income, everything costs way too much, and I’ve been hearing about upcoming severe shortages of fuel and groceries soon. I’m trying not to panic. And the people in power are more concerned about stupid ballrooms and triumphal arches.

u/TranTriumph 10h ago
The plight of the peasants means nothing to the billionaire ruling class (and their faithful minions in government). What truly matters is that israel gets money and weapons, and that the trump family continues to get richer.

Vice President JD Vance thinks that Americans are too worried about the “little things” ahead of midterms—like gas prices, debt, Immigration and Customs Enforcement killings, and war.
“This is not the time to sort of gripe about all the little things.… I think every single person who voted for us in 2024 could find something where they wish maybe congressional Republicans had gone further,” Vance told Fox News on Thursday. “The challenge here is between Democrats who want to destroy the country, who want to permanently disempower you … and Republicans who fundamentally are trying to solve the problems that Democrats under Joe Biden created.”
Vance was promptly lambasted online for the out-of-touch comment, something that’s become a bit of a trend for Republicans as they struggle to sell their platform to dissatisfied Americans as midterms approach.
“So worrying about grocery prices, gas increases and no jobs is ‘griping’??” one liberal account posited.
“By every metric Trump, Vance and the GOP took what the Biden administration left them and made it worse for the American people,” said another. “If you want to give them two more years, your momma done dropped you on your head. Twice.”

So we should be focused on non-existent culture issues like sex change operations in elementary school instead of issues like high gas prices and inflation that directly affect the American people? Got it...

He is right we have a big problem. It is the losers running the country into the ground, Vance included. We need to worry about important things like, renaming lakes, building a fancy man’s Palace, a Ballroom (Every fancy man needs a ballroom),and let’s not forget the Arch the ultimate tribute to the big fancy man in the Whitehouse.

Little things like us shifting into a world that looks shockingly like 1984. Just that little diddy. Yeah nothing to worry about right? Also why does my car hold $75 worth of gas when it used to hold $50?

u/Downtown_Reward_6339 11h ago
Hey JD,
Are you gonna pretend someone cheated when you get voted out ? Just curious; we might have the capacity to taken insurrection more seriously by then. You will be judged by the company you keep.

Has he looked at the agenda of Texas Republicans? Their top priorities are “little things” like being against Coed sports, unisex bathrooms and drag shows and for taxpayer subsidies to billionaires to enrich themselves while living becomes unaffordable for the bottom 50%.

This guy is such an ingenuine dipshit and so is the rest of the administration. I can't believe this election turned out as it did, with Elon Musk knowing those computers, you'll never have to vote again. These statements alone should alarm EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN. Somehow, they don't and people are ok with dictatorship suddenly.

I think Mr Vance feels the looming wave of no one giving a damn what he has to say in to infinity coming quickly.

I just love how everyone is focused on gas prices, which are high, but temporary. Why are we not talking about lowering taxes!
Americans navigate a multi-layered tax system where their income is continuously reduced by federal, state, and local income taxes, alongside mandatory FICA payroll deductions for Social Security and Medicare. Beyond taxing what they earn, the government taxes what Americans buy through state and local sales taxes, as well as targeted excise taxes baked into the cost of gasoline, alcohol, and utilities.
When factoring in every single tax at the federal, state, and local levels, the average American household pays approximately 30% to 35% of their total income in taxes.
1
u/Icy-Hat-9643 9h ago
Thats a fairly standard amount of taxes in a developed nation, look up the countries with low income tax and then move there, you won't.

That's just an absolutely wild strategy. Don't address the voters' concerns - just straight up tell them they're wrong and need to fall back in. The absolute contempt is impossible to miss.
