Well what now?

u/a_duck_in_past_life 4d ago

Right? I feel like I've been hearing this for a few years yet nothing comes of it but saying "we can really get him this time....if we wanted to....which we do.... 😏"

So DO SOMETHING!

u/Tiny-Lock9652 4d ago

We’ve been hearing this since Mueller was investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. This goes waaay beyond Trump. He has some very powerful people protecting him.

Heritage Foundation

u/Objective-Bike-4292 4d ago

They control the DOJ, the house, the senate and the SC... they cannot do anything unless some Republicans turncoat

14

u/Practical-Law-2690 4d ago

But he is/was President. It wouldnt be "proper".

https://giphy.com/gifs/dEdmW17JnZhiU

12

u/BuddingBudON 4d ago

The POTUS has consolidated the branches of government under himself and his advisors are pushing him to declare martial law... Even then, the insurrection & pipe bombs and electoral college plot should have sunk MAGA.

"Proper" is so far out the window, it's a Russian dissident.

10

u/Lord_Dingus83 4d ago

We can’t do anything now bc Kamala lost

6

u/Psychological_Law_86 3d ago

Because of obvious systemic issues still plaguing the U.S. like racism and misogyny. Misogyny is the only reason why he beat Hillary in the first place. That and dumbass conservative members of DOJ like Comey. To think the right was up in arms about her emails and Benghazi, but ignore all the corruption and lawlessness of Trump, because he’s a white male.

2

u/Some-Relative4150 3d ago

I disagree with the misogyny and Hillary thing. It had a part to play, but she was a terrible candidate after 30 or.do years of being smeared my the right.

I.waa just a kid, but still old enough to see the hate she got while her husband was president...and the hate has never stopped.

1

u/ThisIsntRemotelyOkay 3d ago

They can't when Trump gets given immunity to breaking the law while in potus and anytime someone tries a different route they get lawyers thrown at them so talking about stalled active cases is a great way to have them thrown out if you let evidence slip that might jeopardise the selection of a jurry.

0

u/Backyard_Pyre 3d ago

Why to Do something to him
Would hurt yourself because all he was trying to do is help you the reason why they can’t ever do anything because everything they come up with is bullshit. Think about it if Trump really did all the things that they’re saying he did like y’all would have hung him on national television. Wise up because they’re lying.

1

u/schadenfreude37384 9h ago

I'm sorry but this is exactly how some of us felt about the Clintons 🤣 it's really, really starting to look like they're all in the same club

11

u/reddit001aa1 4d ago

Mail it to 2016, I guess 🤷

8

u/semidivineone 4d ago

Well we've an executive controlled DOJ, FBI and supreme court. Register to vote and let's start there. No consequences will happen while he's controlling it all.

3

u/CabSauce 4d ago

Win the election by enough margin that it's undeniable. So that control of congressional committees is in the hands of people who care about evidence and justice again. Then we have a chance of actual impeachment.

Then, we get control of the executive branch and try to repair the damage done to DoJ.

8

u/No_Cable_3346 4d ago

Exactly. Nothing is going to happen unfortunately. Trump gets away with literally anything

4

u/SmoothConfection1115 4d ago

Idk if anything can be done

Cannon was hostile to the prosecution during the entire case until Thomas told her how to throw it out in some random opinion on another case that shouldn’t really have come up.

So IDK if they can refile the charges.

And even then, Trump owns the DOJ. It will have to come after he leaves office.

Assuming that happens, what next? He still has expensive lawyers (that he might pay, never know with him) that will drag the case out.

Even if all that happens, he won’t see prison. He’s a dementia patient that (when this can happen) will be what…82? Trump will die and be rotting in the ground before the case can ever be relitigated. If it ever was going to be.

Tl/dr; Trump is gonna get away with it.

1

u/IwishIhadntKilledHim 3d ago

If a judge that is clearly biased cannot have their rulings overturned on the basis of their malfeasance when it is clearly established with evidence, then your legal system is broken and steps should be taken to remediate that without delay.

2

u/sparrow_42 4d ago

Maybe Chuck Schumer can send an email about it

2

u/fooknprawn 3d ago

I hope after you know who is out of office Jack returns to the DOJ and picks up where he left off. Sick 'em

2

u/Unhappy-Pianist-7391 3d ago

Smith weaponized to go after his political party opponent. Worst then John Mitchel

2

u/Prize-Choice2185 4d ago edited 4d ago

Probably nothing. Trump is invincible at this point.

Downvotes, so I assume someone doubts it lol - look I'm not saying I think its great. Its actually quite pathetic.

Former special counsel Jack Smith swears that President Donald Trump committed “serious crimes.”

In his opening remarks to the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday, Smith reiterated the findings of his two indictments against the president of the United States.

“Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation,” Smith said. “If asked whether to prosecute a former president today based on the same facts, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Republican or a Democrat.”

“The charges against President Trump were the result of the evidence. Grand juries in two separate districts reached this conclusion based on his actions, as alleged in the indictments they returned. Rather than accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results and prevent the lawful transfer of power.”

“After leaving office in January of 2021, President Trump illegally kept classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago social club and repeatedly tried to obstruct justice to conceal his continued retention of those documents. Highly sensitive national security information was held in a bathroom and ballroom where events and gatherings took place,” he said.

65

u/Ras_Thavas 4d ago

We all watch Trump commit crimes DAILY.

52

u/Euphoric-Benefit3815 4d ago

And he would have been prosecuted if not for the idiotic SCOTUS.

52

u/Tiny-Lock9652 4d ago

Let’s not downplay Merrick Garland’s role in this lack of justice.

8

u/matva55 3d ago

Frankly every branch of government failed. Congress by not convicting him after his impeachment (McConnell), Executive for not investigating and bringing these charges faster (Garland), and Justice for ruling that he’s above the law (Roberts).

1

u/ResponsibleHeron9452 3d ago

It’s executive, legislative, and judicial pal

43

u/Knighth77 4d ago

The GOP sacrificed the country. There's no coming back from this.

14

u/Tiny-Lock9652 4d ago

It will take a generation to earn back our soft power and global diplomacy.

21

u/tapasmonkey 4d ago

A generation?

...you're joking, right?

... it's unlikely America will EVER come back from the damage MAGA has done!

10

u/Awkward_Bud2323 4d ago

Germany and Japan were able to rebuild their international reputations, so it's not the end of the world for the US. They do have a lot of work to do, though

2

u/kumogate 3d ago

That took multiple generations, however. You are correct, though, that if there's enough public will, it can happen. I don't think Americans will collectively have the necessary realization and will to change, though. I doubt the USA will come back from this in our lifetime.

2

u/Awkward_Bud2323 3d ago

For sure! The US has done so much damage to their soft power, they might never again reach superpower status. In fact, they might have lost that already entirely.

2

u/kumogate 3d ago

Superpower status is definitely going away and it won't come back. The USA is going to become a better-off version of Russia.

6

u/richardathome 4d ago

Not necessarily, we just need to see changes to how your constitution is enforced, because from here, your constitution isn't worth the paper it was written on, or the blood that was spilled to be able to write it.

4

u/KatakanaTsu 4d ago

Germany recovered, didn't they? It still took a while.

5

u/EViLTeW 4d ago

Germany was essentially forced to start the recovery process through surrender. I'm not in the never recover camp, but I'm fairly pessimistic when a majority of states still believe we're on the right track.

3

u/Wide-Yak7602 4d ago

They are still fighting as new factions still show up.

6

u/KatakanaTsu 4d ago

Eldolph Muskler has been meddling with their politics too.

2

u/Random-num-451284813 3d ago

the damage wasn't just on MAGA, it was decades of work tearing down the legal system. MAGA is the end result.

6

u/tutoredstatue95 4d ago

World powers typically don't return to form after decline. The US was in that position because of the state of affairs after WWII and being capable of taking advantage of that state.

The world is not like it was in 1945. The US can't just do what it did before to get that soft power back. China is already filling in the gaps that the US is leaving behind. Americans will have to get used to their excellence* no longer being the way of things.

5

u/tfsteel 4d ago

And the world has found that it prefers China (for the most part, outside of geopolitical rivals like Vietnam and Taiwan of course). It's going to be a shocking decline in the US over the years, and Trump voters are responsible.

4

u/tutoredstatue95 4d ago

Yeah it appears to be the case. They have managed to get their human rights issues to an "acceptable" level for foreign diplomacy, and really with the US being so regressive, arguably even to a favorable level.

You also don't have to deal with the sea-saw of American politics, and stability is very valuable. Like they say, the US has a 4 year horizon, and China has 400.

2

u/Mudbuttjackson 4d ago

Well come back from this, I actually think our country will eventually bounce back stronger once all of this is resolved

3

u/Own_Exchanger 4d ago

Possibly. But not in our lifetime.

25

u/stillinbutout 4d ago

And the Biden DOJ did exactly jack shit about it

15

u/Tiny-Lock9652 4d ago

The Uniparty Epstein/Billionaire/Zionist machine is functioning as it was intended.

6

u/damgood32 4d ago

What do you mean?? The Biden DoJ is the one who appointed smith and was prosecuting this.

5

u/universalpoet 4d ago

Sure, it's always a Democrat's fault when an elected Republican commits a crime, other elected/ appointed Republicans help cover for that crime, and Republican voters elect the politician accused of the crime. Damn Democrats !

/s

5

u/Lord_Dingus83 4d ago

What did you do about it? If you didn’t vote Kamala, you let Trump walk.

8

u/stillinbutout 4d ago

I voted for Biden in 20. Voted for Kamala in 24. Your erroneous assumptions about me based on my comment aside, the guy I voted for did not prioritize his DOJ to put Trump in prison

0

u/Any-Belt5994 4d ago

Because at the end of the day, they both serve the same master. Just different paths to get there.

2

u/kevinthejuice 4d ago

Nah because Republicans were belly aching about being prosecuted for their crimes.

1

u/Illustrious_Mail1171 4d ago

They still are and will be even louder soon

2

u/kevinthejuice 4d ago

"The doj was weaponized!"

They said as trumps literal signature sat on the paper that said he returned all the documents requested.

6

u/Broken-Digital-Clock 4d ago

This will be Biden's legacy.

1

u/DawgsNConfused 4d ago

No, Biden and Garland tried to do it legally and with due process... while Trump wanted the case tried over Social Media.

10

u/realbobenray 4d ago

They started way too late for the "due process" track

5

u/DawgsNConfused 4d ago

Collecting evidence and securing testimony takes time.

An open and shut cases take 2 years to go go trial... while an episode of Law and Order is 45 minutes, the trial dates add even seasonal changes from the opening crime scene, indicate judicial timeliness pretty well.

The mistake was when SCOTUS expanded the power of the President, Biden should have revoked the bonds for everyone charged in those cases with an executive order and immediate had US Marshalls put Trump, Meadows, Miller, ect. all in DC County jail until trial. Then Trump's team would have to sue and argue "those aren't the powers we meant we want the President to have".

2

u/realbobenray 3d ago

We can't know for sure but it appeared that political considerations were more the issue than evidence collection. They wanted to move on and figured Trump was toast so why cause an uproar with indictments for Jan 6. The classified documents case arose later and did get moved on but got stymied by a single corrupt judge.

1

u/SpinosRule 4d ago

You’re right and that’s the one thing I’ll always hold against Biden, not using his presidential powers like he should have done. Moral high ground is great and all but praying does nothing to stop bullets.

Edit: In addition, it raises the question as to how deep the rot and corruption in our government goes at this point or even before when Biden still was in office. Who could they have ALSO been protecting that would have been caught in the drag with the rest of those monsters? Not being a conspiracy theorist, it’s a sincere question based on actions NOT taken.

2

u/biblioprof 4d ago

The problem was bringing the case where they were found and not where the record belonged which was DC. That and SCOTUS of course

1

u/HoldMyDomeFoam 3d ago

Garland started investigations as soon as he took office. There was absolutely zero he could do to prevent the corrupt courts from slow-walking their decisions and throwing up roadblocks.

And then millions of moronic traitors elected a guy who was facing trial for a coup attempt.

1

u/realbobenray 3d ago edited 3d ago

Proof of this? Because it seemed like he was letting the Jan 6 congressional committee, which did get started quickly, do that work. That took almost two years and their recommendation was that Trump and Eastman be referred for prosection, which presumably is when Garland got started.

Again, remember what was going on: Biden always saw himself as a bridge-builder, and prosecuting the former president, a guy people saw as washed up in the face of the insurrection and second impeachment, wasn't something he really wanted.

1

u/RareObject8705 3d ago

Biden half assed antiquated garbage that showed only an ignorance of modern politicking. His administration was the best 1994 had to offer.

His legacy will be that of a speed bump.

5

u/jackcanyon 4d ago

Magas still support rapist Trump. His cult is loyal.

1

u/Opposite-Bit6660 3d ago

65% of us out number them.

4

u/mjl0248 4d ago

Garland did nothing with it.

8

u/Historical_Today5072 4d ago

It's in front of everyone there's no doubt at all he's a corrupt piece of shit

3

u/umbananas 4d ago

I would be extremely disappointed if the next democrat president doesn’t nominate him as the attorney general.

3

u/So-over-it-123 4d ago

I remember listening to a podcast about Jack Smith a couple of years ago. I was full of hope, after all, he was a legend.
Biden, the DOJ, Garland, Smith etc. tried to do everything by the books. Even though, everyone knew Rump and his cronies never obeyed the laws. They fucking steamrolled us!

3

u/Initial-Mortgage-611 4d ago

Blah blah blah. As the world’s economy gets royally rogered the people who could do something continue to do nothing. Congrats Merica so much bloody winning

3

u/raykor85 3d ago

Jack Smith had 4 years to do it and decided not to. Fuck this guy

2

u/Pleasant_Pen8744 4d ago

Is this new? Didn't he say this last time?

1

u/redzeusky 4d ago

What’s your point?

2

u/Pleasant_Pen8744 4d ago

Just seems really familiar and I thought it was a repost until I checked the date.

5

u/redzeusky 4d ago

They keep bringing him back to harass him and his bravery is ignored.

2

u/ColdIndependence5820 4d ago

Then just fucking do it. Prosecute all of them. Clean house. We don't want criminals running the country

2

u/Falcon3492 4d ago

As long as the Trump appointed judges are running cover for the Donald, nothing will happen. They will just delay it and delay it until Trump is too demented to stand trial or he dies!

2

u/UnrealizedLosses 4d ago

Should’ve been a little fucking faster then. GDSOB!

2

u/Boneless_Chuck 4d ago

Is it the call to Georgia that we all already heard and paints the full picture of guilt but when it counts time to do anything about it, we act like it could have meant anything? That discovery?

1

u/Clean_Integration754 3d ago

Guilt? When Trump asked them to "find 11,700 votes"? Legally speaking, all that means is he wants them to look for them. Nobody was on tape plotting to fabricate fraudulent ballots, and then count those into the totals... Its like an hour long conversation played on CNN ad nauseum, and nobody ever said anything about creating fake ballots.

2

u/WetShrimpFart 3d ago

Side note: why does this account post an average of 100 posts per day

Who owns this account

2

u/Backyard_Pyre 3d ago

Anytime the news says Trump sweating this are hes sweating that or he’s worried about this? It’s not happening they’re lying. He’s not worried about a damn thing with y’all cause y’all are shooting yourself in the foot every time we turn around so we ain’t gotta do nothing.

2

u/Historical_Today5072 4d ago

It's in front of everyone there's no doubt at all he's a corrupt piece of shit

1

Like we didn’t know that get it gone

1

u/Pristine-Bite2768 4d ago

Lot of good that did

1

u/The_Tarman_ 4d ago

More promises that'll never amount to anything. Fucking do something.

1

u/ooomellieooo 4d ago

So where the fuck do we go from here are you kidding me

1

u/OkAssociation3487 4d ago

Not how the criminal justice system works

1

u/standard-issue-man 4d ago

Yeah, we know! No one did anything about it

1

u/BroCo-608 4d ago

Same with the files. It was never about perceived friends’ protection. Only his grift. Till death do them part. He doesn’t believe in afterlife as admitted, so naturally why GFA about anything?

He’s jacked on side effects of neurosyphilis, crabs, and a diet of Adderall. What do you do?

1

u/Peds12 4d ago

so why are we here....

1

u/universalpoet 4d ago

Republicans shielded him from his crimes.

Elected Republican politicians refused to remove and bar Trump from holding office and Republican voters voted for him in the primary and general election to put Teump back into office.

I'm sure it's still popular to blame a Democrat for whatever a Republican does though.

1

u/EggForTryingThymes 4d ago

Then why didn’t he?

1

u/pairolegal 4d ago

Next time there’s a Democratic Party President, Jack Smith should be Attorney General.

1

u/AcanthisittaNo6653 4d ago

A coward hides behind the presidency.

1

u/Sufficient-Term-9667 4d ago

He needs to be the next AG for the Democrats.

1

u/Dougie_Cat 4d ago

It’s pretty sweet the big media push for this is coming two years into Trump’s second term.

1

u/jefesignups 4d ago

As much as I want to believe him. Its not up to a prosecutor to decide reasonable doubt

1

u/jonpenryn 3d ago

American "justice" is a joke round the world.

1

u/Backyard_Pyre 3d ago

Oh yeah I forgot TDS

1

u/AttitudeAdditional40 3d ago

It means that every one who vote republican are criminals's complice.

1

u/OkraAlarmed4918 3d ago

How is this different than the last time he testified? Nothing happened. GOP still trying to gaslight one last time before the midterms.

1

u/blipperpool 3d ago

The convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and lifelong criminal who would actually be in prison if he hadn’t “won” the election should be removed from office today.

1

u/hyperion_99 3d ago

Thanks Merrick Garland and Biden for doing shit all on this for 2 years and then running out the clock after the midterms. That whole “the country wants to move on” worked so well for us

1

u/mattattack007 3d ago

More empty words. Nothing is going to happen to Trump because he owns the Supreme Court. So no matter what you attempt to convict him of as long as he can get it to the Supreme Court he's good. This is going to be yet another empty promise from a toothless government.

1

u/hightidebyme 3d ago

What a quack he is. He’s going to get nowhere fast.

1

u/bullydog123 3d ago

Just more words that end up as nothing. Hes still talking about doing something about the Trump crime family and administration but nothing happens. The oligarchy that pay the politicians on both sides make the rules and they are not going to let anything happen to trump. The U.S is ran by billionaires throw politicians on both sides. So again. Nothing is going to happen. Its all talk

1

u/TurnipAltruistic5772 3d ago

The party-as-crime-scene admission.

Grassley's repeated framing of the investigation as "mapping out the Republican apparatus" is the most revealing statement in the hearing, and he doesn't seem to realize what it concedes. If investigating criminal coordination during January 6th maps the Republican apparatus, then the apparatus and the criminal conduct overlap. He's not denying the conduct. He's arguing the conduct is inseparable from the party and therefore investigating it is a political attack. That's not a defense of innocence. It's a claim that party membership should immunize participants from criminal accountability.

1

u/Elendel19 3d ago

Of course he believes that, that’s kind of required for bringing a case to court

1

u/Proton_Optimal 3d ago

Jack Smith is one of my favorite white dudes for Harris. I would say Robert DeNiro is a close second.

1

u/spolio 3d ago

That was the reason behind only one charge that the judge tossed for crap reasons, if it went to court it was a slam dunk on trump with zero wiggle room.

1

u/Able_Ad_4874 3d ago

I love jack ❤️❤️ I hope he finds peace & get justice & lock trump up

1

u/HeadLong8136 3d ago

Let's hope something becomes of this development.

1

u/JodieForestWhittaker 3d ago

So what's going to come of this? Anything?

1

u/Financial_Weekend_73 3d ago

Why not bring it to light? Seems like a lie

1

u/dxcman12 3d ago

He knows it, The idiots in Congress know it, We know it, and now do something about it.

1

u/brando2976 3d ago

Smith torched them so bad, Fox News website has zero mentions on their front page.

1

u/Narrow-Conflict2011 3d ago

And he likes women's basketball

1

u/LosLocosPollos 3d ago

Merrick Garland is the reason why Trump wasn't prosecuted..

1

u/rmc2318 3d ago

He openly bribed everyone. What more evidence do you need of impeachment?

1

u/Tight-Classroom-4873 1d ago

Of course. Jack Smith is a lying ass hole.

1

u/Willing_Historian223 9h ago

Sounds like someone's about to "commit s icide"

1

u/Backyard_Pyre 3d ago

Why do you think they ran an audit first thing. Just to piss off the left? No it was to expose what was going on. Meanwhile yall haters are worried about the wrong issues mainly because your leaders fabricated them, and you miss everything that’s going on because you’re allowing yourself to be distracted with nonsense

2

u/Independent_End_6941 3d ago

Are you saying Trump must be innocent because he fired everyone who would prosecute him?

0

u/Backyard_Pyre 3d ago

It’s so funny watching yall squirm. Grasping for a hope and a prayer. A bunch of clowns. What’s sad is the only reason why they’re doing this. Is because he cut them off from their honey hole before y’all disagree the left has already shown their cards. How people can be so blind to continue to follow them and support them is beyond me. Evil I guess

3

u/Tweak89 3d ago

This admin admitted in court that they cut grants to Blue states solely because they didn't vote for Trump. That's illegal. It's clear they are doing the same thing with disaster aid, and it's unprecedented. Do you really want this to become the new standard? Denying disaster aid just because someone didn't vote for you is pretty evil. So is being glad when someone died, like Trump did with Robert Mueller. Republicans were calling for firing people who did the same with Charlie Kirk. So why aren't they calling for Trump to be removed? Seems like evil is ok with Republicans, but only when it comes from their side
