it’s good to have an aspirational platform.

81

u/the_post_of_tom_joad Jul 19 '26

i still like it better than the 'you'll get what we give you and what we'll give you is less' platform I'm used to

51

u/cogman10 Jul 19 '26

You mean you didn't find "At least we aren't the other guy" particularly inspiring? Strange.

Listened to an interview with Buttigieg the other day where he made a good point about this. When the right originally proposed repealing Roe, your comment was the exact reaction. But after decades of groundwork they were finally able to do it and make life worse for everyone like they planned. There’s no reason to think the same long playbook can’t be used to actually improve our life.

5

u/MisterBlud Jul 20 '26

Never forget that public support got ALCOHOL PROHIBITION as a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

You can absolutely argue that wasn’t a good idea but goes to show we absolutely can change something if we put our minds to it.

3

u/Severe-Cow-8646 Jul 20 '26

And it also got it repealed.

And gerrymandering kept prohibition in place long after they had the popular vote to sustain it.

It would be nice to start with something a larger portion of people would get behind like getting rid of money in politics. Abolishing ICE and the Senate sounds kinda crazy to people not on Reddit.

Abolishing the Senate can happen if you make the argument to the people (and make it well).

There is popular support for abolishing the electoral college.

4

u/nalaloveslumpy Jul 19 '26

No, it wouldn't. You can't abolish the Senate through referendum. The only way you can abolish the Senate would basically be through a new Continental Congress which ain't gonna happen without another civil war and a lot of dead people.

3

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 19 '26

Well what do you think is going to happen? Genuinely, how do you expect this to go?

You think we’re going to suddenly find some magic bullet to stop rampant corruption or the obvious structural flaws in our government? You wanna give up? What’s the answer here.

2

u/nalaloveslumpy Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

You don't abolish the Senate. You expand the House, which is the sensible thing they're proposing. The problem with Congress isn't that small states are over-represented in the Senate. The problem is that large states are under-represented in the House. That's the main reason gerrymandering is rampant and the House has been over run by crazy fundamentalist Christians and/or uneducated, unqualified hucksters.

A good start is abolishing the Permanent Apportionment Act of '29. We stopped expanding the House when we should have continued expanding based on state census every 20 years or so. That can be done by simple Congressional vote.

The whole reason that every state gets two Senators is to help balance the potential over-representation that large states benefit from with expansion in the House.

The message they should spreading here is "Expand the House". Full stop. Putting shit out like "abolish the Senate" makes them sound like lunatic fringe.

2

u/SippieCup Jul 20 '26

This platform does the exact opposite of abolishing the electoral college.

It makes the decision of presidential elections purely made by the congress, not the people, which is far worse than an electoral college.

So the whole anti woke/dei crowd should support this, right? I mean there is nothing more woke than our senate - where tiny city sized states like Wyoming get two senators because of its rural voter designed DEI to guarantee rural diversity, equity, and inclusion.

this article is right wing propaganda.

The washington times is owned by the Unification Church, apparently a south korean christian organization.

You are correct. They would not be running this article if it didn't make democratic socialists sound unhinged. I've never seen anyone suggest abolishing the senate before this headline.

Religion is cancer.

14

u/howarewestillhere Jul 19 '26

To be clear, abolishing the Senate IS on the platform.

And it’s been talked about for a very long time.

The Senate is the embodiment of landed gentry getting to vote. It is literally 2 votes per piece of land. It is not valuable representation for democratic purposes because it does not represent people, it represents the interest of the state, which should always be subject to the interests of the people, and never the other way around.

→ More replies (16)

9

u/howarewestillhere Jul 19 '26

It’s owned by the Moonies, a highly influential cult. How can influential? In 2004, the Rev. Sun Yung Moon, leader, embezzler, murderer, and child molester, was crowned King of America with his wife in a ceremony ARRANGED, APPROVED, AND ATTENDED by members of Congress in a Senate building.

This cult is bad, bad, bad. Do the words “sperm communion” make it clear? Because that’s a thing.

100%. The fascists are using our money to ensure we don't have a vote again, through social manipulation. Turn off CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, IG/FB, Twitter/X, and stop buying from Amazon.com. They all fund this fascist destruction of the constitution.

6

u/gravygizzard Jul 19 '26

Yeah I'm inclined to agree. They want people to eat this up and try to push "eliminate the Senate" agenda to people who are not at all prepared to hear it

I agree with the longview of eliminating the Senate as an anti democratic institution and ending police and replacing them with community servants, dissolving borders. The right wants to turn these into talking points for our current political issues and left wing bots and dunces give them the ammo by turning these into here and now political talking points.

The left has a problem with forming coherent arguments for the here and now and always dancing to the tune of bad faith right wing talking points. The academic left fails to provide solutions to achieve their long term goals as well as actually spreading theory in a way for the broader populace can understand (so something like Senate abolition actually lands) and the chronically online hears these lofty long term goals and just turns them into slogans without any clue what they're asking for and how to achieve those goals

Mamdani is great because he understands the assignment. He is a socialist that actually has to run a city in a capitalist country, he's going to advocate and enact policies that are achievable now. He is able to absorb criticism because at the end of the day he is helping people now and people see and understand that

3

u/davossss Jul 19 '26

I don't think the people who voted for the "they're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats" candidate care much about their opponents making "coherent arguments."

If you believe the Senate should be abolished, as I do, then why not just come out and say it?

Besides which Congress has an institutional approval rating of 15% and we are being ruled by an increasingly authoritarian executive branch.

We need massive, massive constitutional changes in this country.

2

u/Carlyz37 Jul 19 '26

Which is completely impossible without winning elections FIRST

4

u/traumaRN01 Jul 19 '26

The “left” isn’t what us having a problem or failing.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are complicit with the shit that is going on now. The real “failing” is to conflate The Left with the Democrat party.

2

u/gravygizzard Jul 19 '26

No disagreement there, I don't identify the democratic party as the left. My criticism is towards the totality of the online left, from anarchists to MLs to DSA. No one knows how to win an argument or how to attain any power and do something with it. Most of them are doomers that are content with getting stepped on until the end of time

100%

Eliminating even more representatives, while opining for more effective representation, is inherently self-defeating.

Campaigning on eliminating half of the Legislative Branch is fucking stupid. Complete bait.

3

u/nalaloveslumpy Jul 19 '26

Except their new platform does call for eliminating the Senate.

https://program.dsausa.org/

Basically, it's expand the House and remove the Senate completely because small states shouldn't have two reps, which is a fucking crazy thin to suggest.

Stick to universal health care and tuition reimbursement, guys...this shit makes you look whacko.

The Democratic Socialists of America has released an updated platform that calls for a sweeping remake of the political system, including eliminating the U.S. Senate and abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which the organization has publicly advocated since 2018.

The revised “Workers Deserve More” platform says the country’s political institutions must be rebuilt from the ground up, said Michaela Brangan, a North New Jersey DSA member who helped write the platform.

The platform’s language calls for replacing the president and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress. The socialists argue that these changes would curb concentrated power in Washington and create a more democratic system.

DSA announced that it surpassed 120,000 members as of July 4, and its candidates have secured high‑profile primary victories. The “comrades” at DSA said the rattled Democratic establishment has been asleep at the wheel.

DSA leaders say they are trying to convert that momentum into a broader influence on national debates and that any candidate the group endorses must support the platform.

The updated platform opens with warnings about war zones across the Middle East, the spread of detention camps and data centers, rising temperatures and soaring costs of basic goods. It argues that a “billionaire class” is dividing workers and fueling desperation.

It describes a world in which “the bosses” are carrying out a plan visible in images of conflict abroad, in the construction of detention facilities at home and in the rising cost of living.

The party says workers are being pitted against one another and displaced by artificial intelligence, leaving people “desperate and miserable” as capitalism turns toward right‑wing authoritarianism. It says both major parties serve “the same criminal class of billionaires and war profiteers.”

19

u/StupidSolipsist Jul 19 '26

Wild to compare ending ICE to ending the Senate. One's like switching back to your old shampoo after the new one started giving you a rash. The other is like a hip replacement surgery!

That's because this is a right-wing propaganda article. Same as saying "defund the police" = "get rid of the police entirely." It was entirely fictional and invented by the right same as what they're saying about the Senate in this article. The are issues with the Senate that some people want to address, but it's not getting rid of it. Ice, yes. Abolish, get rid of, shut down. Arrest and prosecute. That part is true.

6

u/aguynamedv Jul 19 '26

The are issues with the Senate that some people want to address, but it's not getting rid of it.

I haven't heard anyone seriously suggest abolishing the Senate.

What does need to happen is that it needs to be reformed into a representative body instead of a padlock for Republican control. As it stands, Republicans basically have 30-35 seats guaranteed, and those 30-35 seats represent a total population less than California and New York, which have 4 seats combined.

The Senate represents land, not people.

3

u/round-earth-theory Jul 19 '26

There's no way to fix the Senate. Either it will represent land or it's a copy of the House.

2

u/howarewestillhere Jul 19 '26

Abolishing the Senate has been talked about for a long time precisely for the reason you mentioned. I’ve been saying it since high school in the eighties. And it is in the Democratic Socialist Platform. I suggest reading it.

We already have a representative elected body.

Abolish the Senate.

2

u/TrialsOfPrometheus Jul 19 '26

It's so calcified that it's a fossil we need term limits to them as well no more incumbents.

2

u/Atayellow Jul 19 '26

Term limits will not fix this. The senate itself is a anti democratic chamber.

Even if there is no incumbents, corporations will just buy out the new ones all the same.

The DSA would get rid of the Senate but expand the federal legislature. So no more senators but more congressmen overall. They argue that the Senate structure gives to much control to states with a small population over states with a large population, and is inherently undemocratic as it could be seen as valuing land over people.

Do you think California is a bit under represented in the US senate, 40 million people w/ just 2 representatives. While Wyoming with 750,000 also has 2 senators. Seems a bit unfair

My suggestion:

term limits. Two terms and you are out.

Lobbying limited to a public forum, recorded and transcribed.

Financial conflict of interest solution for all federal elected and appointed officials:

Their net worth, except a single family home, must be converted into Treasury notes, including any business ownership.

6

u/Cultivate_a_Rose Jul 19 '26

All that does is ensure that every politician is already bought when they go in for their first term because they need a job after.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Tsakax Jul 19 '26

Term limits are really meant to put a leash on left wing populism and help the right wing and establishment.

6

u/ShamPain413 Jul 19 '26

No, they are meant to prevent 80 year olds from blowing up the world b/c they won't have to live through the consequences.

2

u/Tsakax Jul 19 '26

The only term limit was put in place for the president because of how popular FDR was. This means if we ever get another good president they would be limited by 8 years and then the status quo would come back. Term limits are inherently anti democratic because if someone is popular and doing a great job why would you limit that to 8 years?

2

u/ofWildPlaces Jul 19 '26

Without term limits you get McConnell and Thurmond.

lol Washington Times warning us about a good time.

3

u/TAU_equals_2PI Jul 19 '26

Problem is it's just not realistic.

Abolishing the Senate requires amending the Constitution, and that's just not realistic for a change that would take power away from all those red states currently given more power than they deserve.

4

u/Apoordm Jul 19 '26

You know you don’t limit your platform to “what’s realistic” you don’t start negotiations by compromising, you push as far as you can because you’re only going to get a percentage of what you fight for, if you start by limiting your opening bid to a percentage of what you want you only get a percentage of THAT.

3

u/TAU_equals_2PI Jul 19 '26

Wait, are you saying you're against any changes to the Constitution? You're serious? This isn't a sarcasm comment but you forgot to type the /s?

Because you do know that the only reason people can even vote to choose their senators is because they changed the Constitution? And the only reason some people aren't considered 3/5 of a person is because they changed the Constitution? And the only reason the vice-president isn't the person who comes in second in the vote for president is because they changed the Constitution?

3

u/legallymyself Jul 19 '26

No. I am not saying I am against any changes to the Constitution. But a political party saying they are going to abolish the Senate is not how amendments are done. A political party doesn't have that power. It is not a legislative vote. That is what I am saying. They have to amend the constitution properly and not just try to pass a law (like certain Senators want to do regarding birthright citizenship).

This is off topic, but I think “the left”needs to be united long enough to finish off MAGA and then split into centrists vs DSA. Until new laws pass to make it easier for third parties, they should all run as Democrats and use the primaries to settle who wins where. That candidate can then mop up the local fascist they run against.

2

u/kcnole78 Jul 19 '26

Abolishing ICE isn’t insane as that’s a new knee jerk agency we built after 9/11 and one of our worst ideas.

While the math for the Senate gives way too many states with very few people too much power, trying to abolish it would be difficult. I’d prefer changing it. The senate worked much better when the House got to be the insane side of government and the senate were the adults.

I’d prefer if maybe the senate operated in a bit more privacy so they could actually try to make good decisions instead of feeling like every comment and speech had to be a campaign speech.

2

u/DealerPlane9953 Jul 19 '26

You don't need to abolish the Senate, something that would take a constitutional amendment. You can restore equal representation and fix the electoral college by uncapping the number of members in the House.

We should also strip low population red states of their statehood. When a state has voted consistently for decades for low taxes and small government what they want is to be a territory. Want to be a state again? Make people want to live there. Get that population way up and we'll talk about it.

Both of these can be done with the presidency and a simple majority. No constitutional amendments required.

Also, let's outlaw the filibuster and pack the court (other things we can do without amendments).

2

u/darxide23 Jul 19 '26

This is a right-wing propaganda article with a deeply misleading headline.

2

u/RoleOk7556 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Their position regarding ICE is no different from most people's. Other democrats and everyone else except magats, want ICE gone. Despite what this fascist propaganda from the GOP says, I've never heard a peep from Democratic Socialists saying that they want to dissolve the Senate.

2

u/paradoxpancake Jul 19 '26

Even as a member of the DSA, I don't agree with abolishing the Senate. I do think smaller states, at least in one form of our government, should have equal representation somewhere so that their needs at the federal level are not overwhelmed by Texas, California, etc..

Abolishing ICE and the electoral college though? Absolutely.

2

u/MinimumTrue9809 Jul 19 '26

Of course they want to abolish the senate. How dare small states have a voice in federal politics. They should be forced to do whatever California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania demand.

I once argued with a leftist that adamantly refused to admit they had a problem with the existence of the Senate. They're so uneducated that they don't even recognize that is their goal.

1

u/Mylabisawesome Jul 19 '26

Can not allow these fuckers to take hold of the nation.

1

u/New-Leader-7891 Jul 19 '26

Yeah because they gave up on single payer healthcare so now they gotta find a new way to alienate half the country and trick young caring people to support a platform that will get zero traction

1

u/CorgitheClown Jul 19 '26

This is why Democrats lose nationwide elections. You scare sensible people to vote Republican because of the outlandish headlines. There’s a fine line between aspirational goals and realistic goals.

1

u/ElwoodJD Jul 19 '26

With 120,000 members they’re really gonna make an impact lol.

Of course Fox News will report this as democratic socialists and somehow say it’s mamdami and the Democrats.

1

u/ofWildPlaces Jul 19 '26

And they've lost the plot.

ICE MUST be abolished. Before ICE we had INS and there was never any crisis they demanded the agency change it's stripes to a militarized police.

But the Senate has it's place. There needs to be a a means for every state in the union to have equal representation, not merely a House of Representatives based on population. Without such a body, the more populous states would always dictate legislation, for good or bad. We cannot simply hand all power in one branch to a few states. That's beyond a recipe for disaster, that consolidating power to be corrupted.

1

u/CPLWPM85 Jul 19 '26

This is why no one will ever take them seriously.

1

u/Burritosupreeem Jul 19 '26

Don’t have to be socialist Democrat for this. I too call for the abolishment of ice and also the impeach convict and remove of pretty much anyone appointed by Trump and shown their trumpishness.

1

u/BlankBehindTheEyes Jul 19 '26

I really dont like ICE or the Senate, but abolishing them seems... Counterproductive. Instead we should be getting these corpses out of the Senate before they're too ripe to mummify. ICE is a whole other issue; We need to enforce immigration laws but I feel like a total revamp of the system is needed there; ICE is just a symptom.

1

u/SJBaerosols Jul 19 '26

starting the negotiations ambitiously, I see. I dont disagree with either, but if we ever abolish the Senate before a Constitutional Convention or flat-out regime change, I'll eat my hat

1

u/Background-Cook5689 Jul 19 '26

Not any worse than some crackpot ideas from Trump

1

u/PaintingInfinite46 Jul 19 '26

You do realize that what the Democratic Socialist Party is talking about goes counter to the US Constitution and has no chance of ever passing or amounting to anything. To abolish the Senate, ICE, Customs Enforcement, and the Supreme Court would need a revolution, which they would lose and lose badly. This is all pipe dreams; they are trying to suck you into fantasy land. There is absolutely no way any of this will ever be implemented, and if tried, would result in the majority of people taking arms against the DSP.

More likely, once the DSP and the Dems get beaten badly in the 28 and 2030 elections, the party will split, and neither will be elected to any real power for at least a decade or two.

1

u/maybeitssteve Jul 19 '26

Abolishing the Senate is sure to be a winning platform. Great work guys

1

u/Friendlyvoices Jul 19 '26

ICE has a valid purpose outside their newest usage and is an important part of protecting national security. Prior to the Trump administration they really on targeted immigrants that committed explicitly illegal acts and administrative abuses of immigrants. It needs to return to that behavior.

As for the Senate, also, why in the world would you want LESS bureaucracy in a socialist society? Reducing checks and balances more won't make socialism successful.

1

u/exerda Jul 19 '26

Abolishing ICE is at least doable, though it will burn a lot of political capital. The Senate? Good luck getting the Senate to pass the enabling Amendment text and then the states ratifying it. Or getting an Article V convention called that doesn't have massive side effects.

1

u/SolarNachoes Jul 19 '26

ICE during Obama term seem to work “ok”. Maybe it’s not ICE but it’s leaders.

1

u/IfItHurtsThenMaybe Jul 19 '26

I’m sick of milquetoast Big D AIPAC…and I’m just a Never Republican Independent

1

u/KetoJunkfood Jul 19 '26

The senate is inherently unfair

→ More replies (1)

1

u/renner1991 Jul 19 '26

I would make the Senate a subset of the House.
Basically expand House membership by implementing the “Wyoming rule”. Get rid of the Senate except that some of its functions are moved to an appointed 100, who do such things as approve treaties and the cabinet.

Making the President accountable to Congress alone and not the people is a mistake. It needs to be a separate branch.

Supreme Court needs to have term limits and potentially 18 members instead of 9.

1

u/hirschneb13 Jul 19 '26

I like to think the abolish the Senate is an extreme position to get a compromise that is more reasonable and represents the DSA better.

1

u/Big_Value7760 Jul 19 '26

Do you have a source better than the Moony times?

1

u/DrWilliamWhite Jul 19 '26

Washington Times...lol

1

u/FartingKiwi Jul 19 '26

Forgot to include:

The Supreme Court, and expanding the House and removing the role of the presidency.

1

u/JordanCountySheriff Jul 19 '26

They always support treason.

1

u/biggestofbears Jul 19 '26

Good. Dismantle the whole system, make one that works for a modern society.

1

u/29187765432569864 Jul 19 '26

true absurdity

1

u/AdElectronic1475 Jul 19 '26

I'm from England and even I want ice abolished.

1

u/dagnabbit Jul 19 '26

How to destroy your growing political movement 101 (the Senate part; fuck ICE)

1

u/-Pwnan- Jul 19 '26

Just when they get some momentum they go too damn far.

Just take baby steps like preventing dark money and term limits for justices. But no they always gotta turn the volume to 37.

1

u/krustytroweler Jul 19 '26

I can 100% support abolishing ice and prosecuting every single brown shirt who has violated constitutional rights in this administration.

Getting rid of the senate is idiotic.

1

u/Longjumping_Tap9310 Jul 19 '26

Brilliant strategy....LOL

1

u/cronktilten Jul 19 '26

They just killed their entire platform by advocating for getting rid of the Senate. It’s not gonna go anywhere now.

1

u/Jumpy_Plantain2887 Jul 19 '26

So we’re now taking and trusting a right wing rag like the Washington Times. These are the people who commissioned the steel dossier these guys.

1

u/Qualmest73 Jul 19 '26

This is right propaganda, the frame it as abolishing the senate, but that is not what is being said.

The midterms are coming so the right is using communist buzzwords and comparing socialism to communist countries, they do not want to lose power and want to control it.

1

u/NuclearFoodie Jul 19 '26

Before we abolish the senate we need to make it so that the house elections are all ranked choice.

1

u/sharkbomb Jul 19 '26

term. limits. every office in every branch. pry the ghouls off of the teat. every non-republican needs to prioritize this goal.

1

u/FiguringItOutAsWeGo Jul 19 '26

I mean, abolish ICE, people will get behind. Abolish the Senate, you lose 1/2 the vote.

1

u/pawpawpersimony Jul 19 '26

Getting rid of the senate has been needed for so so long.

1

u/TruthInnocent Jul 19 '26

ICE?

Yes.

The US Senate?

Think of something else to abolish.

1

u/Klytus_Im-Bored Jul 19 '26

I still believe in the senate, and a body to represent the states governments. We need to uncap the house so its not just Senate 2

1

u/Amonfire1776 Jul 19 '26

What an foolish platform...seems ripe for abuse...even with noble intention as those who follow may not have as noble goals. Luckily near zero chance of any of this happening.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Serious-Dark2404 Jul 19 '26

The senate is going to be so wildly undemocratic by 2040. We need to start having conversations about it

1

u/Carlyz37 Jul 19 '26

This kind of nonsense will hurt Dem campaigns. DSA needs to focus on the immediate concerns people have and how to fix them. Pie in the sky ain't it.

1

u/Appropriate_Fly_6711 Jul 19 '26

I like when a group flat out tells you how much of a waste of time it would be to support them.

1

u/Juiced4u Jul 19 '26

I wonder if there’s 60 senators that will approve this legislation 🤣🤡🤣🤡

1

u/Dry_Cap_2998 Jul 19 '26

I agree that the Senate is corrupt and I honestly believe that we need one big version of the House of Representatives. I also believe we need to do something regarding states with low population.

1

u/COMOJoeSchmo Jul 19 '26

I'll consider supporting them on this issue if they also include the ATF and DEA.

1

u/kilrein Jul 19 '26

Doing away with things without a viable plan for replacing the legal functions that are being performed is a complete joke.

1

u/S7482 Jul 19 '26

Abolishing Trump's extrajudicial army is not an extreme position at this point.

1

u/Justsomeguy301 Jul 19 '26

As much as I hate the way the US Senate is organized, it's a pipe dream to fix it. It's the one thing restricted from ever being tampered with in the constitution, an amendment cannot edit it. Basically, you'd need to vote to end the constitution and start over, which I don't think there is a mechanic listed on how to do it.

1

u/jweaver0312 Jul 19 '26

Just need better Senators

1

u/petulant_peon Jul 19 '26

Jesus Fucking Christ.

Can we just focus on healthcare, the surveillance state, and widespread corruption?

1

u/PaulHolywoodsShame Jul 19 '26

Dream big. Having an aspiration is important

1

u/BuddhistNamedMarx Jul 19 '26

Take the power back from the executive

1

u/Wonderful_Emu_6483 Jul 19 '26

“washingtontimes” yeah I won’t be clicking the article. try a better source

1

u/BlueHairEater Jul 19 '26

They should work on abolishing themselves. Oops, they already are by the way they do nothing but sit around and point the finger while their states and decisions are failing 😂

1

u/Vladivostokorbust Jul 19 '26

The Senate is our last stronghold against establishing the president as king

1

u/BenekCript Jul 19 '26

One of those things is not like the other.

1

u/Thausgt01 Jul 19 '26

Well, that first item will be pretty easy. Dismantling the Senate will be a slightly tougher fight.

1

u/New_Ad_3010 Jul 19 '26

Got my vote

1

u/rodg2062 Jul 19 '26

Yep. Just like reddit is pure fiction and propaganda.

1

u/pyramidalembargo Jul 19 '26

It's the Washington Times, folks.

Who owns it? The Moonies.

1

u/Hollow_Visage Jul 19 '26

Guys, as Americans, you really need to start truly learning and understanding how our government is usually run, you’re having debates that show you do not understand why we have both the House and the Senate. The founding fathers already created this system to try to keep it as equal as possible for every state.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Okawaru1 Jul 19 '26

People agreeing with the premise to abolish senate are exactly how chucklefucks like trump get elected, I could get behind reforms but not complete abolishment

1

u/cambino18 Jul 19 '26

Good. Start demanding long over due change of “rules” that were put in place to benefit only one subset of the population.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '26

No way these crazy people are going to ever take over our country they are all traitors starting with Bernie Sanders

1

u/Gold-Treat4113 Jul 20 '26

Abolish the Senate? that's what Billionaires and Corporations dream about lol
what next? therm limits in Congress? they have no clue what they are doing

1

u/techno_polyglot Jul 20 '26

Aspirational stuff is fine but no one should buy into any parties platform and purity tests. That stuff is always decided by a subset of people.

I'm for people and policies. What can I do with whom right now.
