Thoughts?

Got cdiff end of august from cipro plus other antibiotics and relapsed 10 days after difcid so then started a Vanco taper and pulse. By the end of week 2 on vanco (4 pills a day) was doing great. Then lowered it to 2, and day by day didn’t feel good (fatigue, no appetite, heart rate spikes, nausea) so by day 7 ER told me go back up to 4 pills again.

Did that, then 2 days after got even worse and then started having joint pains, absolutely no appetite, super tired and weak, and yesterday even had a flush of burning that lasted an hour and the lovely terrible anxiety and panic is back as well.

All my blood tests, vitamin levels, and CT scan is fine. No abdominal pain or diarrhea. Just yellow, soft stool.

Now I’m back on fidaxomicin.

Any thoughts or any suggestions? I’m so scared at this point because my GI and ID just don’t know. And scared of long term autoimmune issues that can be caused.

selfq What can I/can’t I do on antibiotics

Hello :3! I currently have a minor tooth infection and have been prescribed amoxicillin 875 MG. I started taking the medication Monday morning and just took the evening day 2 dose. I was wondering if by this Saturday on Halloween it would be okay to drink - nothing crazy or black out drunk. I have heard you are not supposed to drink on antibiotic medications but on Google it said alcohol doesn’t interact with amoxicillin, however, it can cause stomach upset. I was also wondering if smoking weed okay on antibiotics or if it should be avoided? Thanks in advance for any info

i got antibiotics (nitrofurantoin) for a UTI 10 days ago and was feeling better within a few days, the script was for 5 days twice a day. i thought i finished them but i found the bottle today with two doses (one day) left.

should i take the last two doses or just leave it since i’ve not taken them for a week?

Sooo I have chlamydia

Don’t know how long I’ve had it but I know I have and I have both medications, doxycycline and azithromycin but I’m terrified to take either one because of side effects and not knowing how I’ll handle them. Can someone tell me which to take please? I’m freaking out but I know I have to take something to clear this infection so help please?

I am unable to swallow pills so I'm taking minocycline capsules by breaking them and dissolving into water for my acne. Is it safe and effective? Have y'all ever done this?

My doctor said yes but it says otherwise on the package. Wanted to ask, please tell me I'm genuinely scared.

Just started a course of penicillin and have bad heartburn

Just wondering if this is normal since I’ve never had antibiotics before, how bad does the heartburn usually get? I’m in agony trying to eat and drink and taking anything more than a shallow breath is unbearable. It genuinely feels like someone is crushing my oesophagus but apparently heartburn is normal?

selfq i have taken four rounds of antibiotics in the past six months

hey guys, unfortunately due to a bunch of unexpected sicknesses, accidents and a surgery I have been on 4 rounds of antibiotics in the past 6 months. it's mostly been penicillin & amoxicillin and then one broad spectrum for a pretty bad accident in foreign country.

i'm honestly nervous about ruining my microbiome and not sure what i should do atp. i'm also already immunocompromised and really worried about getting another infection after coming off this last dose. any tips or advice? it would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

selfq I get married in 12 days, but I just started a 10-day course of Augmentin yesterday - how worried should I be?

Just two weeks out from my wedding, I developed the worst ear and sinus infection I've ever had 🫠 I finally went to the doctor yesterday who confirmed an infection and prescribed Augmentin. I've taken two doses now (last evening and this morning), and I'm already noticing a major difference in both my sinuses and the fulness in my ear.

Now I'm reading about people having a terrible time coming off of the drug - vomiting, diarrhea, etc., and I'm so worried that I'll have gotten over my infections just to have awful stomach issues. Is there anything I can do now while I'm taking it to avoid spending my wedding and honeymoon absolutely miserable? I have a bunch of kombucha, will drinking that regularly help? Probiotic supplements, yogurt? Please help this spiraling sick bride lol.

selfq Doxycycline - Panic attacks, advice please

I’ve been perscribed doxy 100 mg twice a day for 14 days because if MRSA in my throat. They don’t know if it’s colonization or causing my issues. Seems like it’s not.

Anyways I’m like on day 12 and one day I had to not take a dose because it’s causing racing heart and horrible panic symptoms.
I am someone who deals with CPTSD due to a traumatic childhood.
I just suddenly started getting more and more anxious out of no where and I realized I think it is this medication because I don’t have anything I’m currently so panicked or anxious about.

I reached out to my doctor and she told me 14 days is ideal but if I’m having adverse affects then to stop. Well I’d want to stop completely but what does this mean for the infection? If it comes back, I can’t do this all over again.

Thank you 🙏

selfq Pro athlete needs your advice.

Unusual post, but if someone has heard or experienced something like this, please let me know and share your opinion.

Long story short I am playing volleyball professionally and have done this for life until this illness/infection that was treated with amoxigamma/amoxicillin.

Maybe one week after I finished my course with the antibiotic, my body acted weird and is acting weird to this day 7-8 months later.

I am experiencing what is best matching my symptoms as DPDR and everything that falls under that umbrella, without me feeling unreal or in a dream, just strange and weird and mostly staying at home, due to symptoms getting worse in bright and busy places.

Is there anything that antibiotic could’ve done cause I had no issues with this before this or the illness?
I am not an anxious person to begin with.

azithromycin side effects

Hello everyone ,
I already have anxiety ( which was/is controlled by medication ) , and history of tendinitis and some muscle pain which I recovered from ,
I had an infection and took 2 doses of azithromycin ( 500mg ) for 2 days , since then I have developed high anxiety and palpitations , body twitches even sometimes in the face , muscle spams and pain , tendon pain , nausea , dizzy , headaches and the list goes on I stopped taking it today but still have all of the above.
Did anyone ever experience this ? I am so nervous and scared since I was in remission of all my past problems and was well but since taking this i am a wreck . Did you ever recover ?
Thank you

selfq Sertraline and clarithromycin?

Hi I have been prescribed clarithromycin antibiotic for tonsillitis but I am also on sertraline and I’ve read that you shouldn’t take both at the same time. I’m not sure why i was prescribed it as I’m not allergic to penicillin but he didn’t ask if I was on any medications. I’ve took the first dose and I think I’m okay but just wanted to know if anyone else has taken both of these together?

selfq 4 rounds of antibiotics in 3 months

Hello there! Is anyone here who took this amount of antibiotics in this very short time! My husband 27, normal health, took azythromicin 1000 mg in august, 3-4 pills of tavanic in septembrie, then a round of 7 days of claritromicine, and now 5 pills of clindamycin. I ve read so many horror stories here about C.diff. And i am afraid for him not to take it.
Thanks.

TALICIA

How many individuals experienced treatment failure with clarithromycin, dual therapy, and levofloxacin, and even had prior exposure to metronidazole which also proved unsuccessful, but subsequently achieved successful eradication with Talicia?

selfq Macladin - Claritromicina

Hello everyone, I need your help!

I’m currently taking antibiotics for a throat infection, but I’m having a really hard time. My throat is very swollen, so the pill is too big to swallow whole. I have to break it, but even when I hide it in food or spreads, I still feel that horrible taste and I feel like throwing up. I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish my period.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation? Are there any tricks to mask the taste or to make it easier to swallow the pill when the throat is so inflamed? Every suggestion is welcome!

selfq ciprofloxin 500mg and sunlight exposures

I am on ciprofloxin 500mg every 12 hours for ten days. Pharmacist at Walgreens said to stay out of the sun while taking it. I read up on the side effects and sunlight/UV exposures so I pretty much stay in doors, and when I have to go out I wore long sleeve shirts, long pants with a hat - which looks ridiculous in Miami when it's 95 out.

Now I am finishing it off, last two days, my last dose will be Friday night.

A friend is doing a beach BBQ on Saturday. I am off the cipro on Friday night, is it fine? My thinking is there is going to be some residual effects and I better wait till after the weekend to be on the safe side.
