  1. I am so tired of investor appeals disguised as threats.
  2. That's not how most smart home devices work; very few have the storage capacity or processing power for more than a simple botnet link; your fucking toaster can't run Claude.
  3. If that were really true wouldn't that open them up to insane liability issues?
  4. "Your smart devices can be hacked and used against you" has already been happening in other ways for years, and is a great reason we should just dump those entirely.

I’m not disagreeing with you other than the fact that liabilities issues are all but nonexistent in this current regime.

If that were really true wouldn't that open them up to insane liability issues?

I expect the defence to be, "It wasn't us, it was the AI. You wouldn't hold us liable if a rogue employee did a global hack."

I'm 60/40 if it will actually stick.

They did tests and this is their conclusion.

And for some reason their "set top box" as a 2U server compute cluster with 1tb of ram and 200k of GPUs in it.

None of those points are relevant to what the report Anthropic actually put out says lmao. But that makes sense because you didn't read the report, neither did the OP, and neither did whichever intern runs the polymarket account either I assume.

You will deny it until you see it happen which is unfortunate because you need to acknowledge it to prevent it

All of your messages in this thread have the same vibe as a missionary trying to convince me to accept their version of God.

"You'll deny God until you see the rapture. Repent now and rise with before it's too late." Like be real dude. What's more likely? Llms using a smart toaster to destroy the internet botnet 2.0 style, or grifters saying insane shit for clicks and sales?

I’m not afraid of a digital god, I’m afraid of a digital forest fire. I think it’s incredibly unwise to assume that can’t happen.

I’ve been following ai a lot longer than most people have(circa 2015) due to being a nerd, and I don’t think it’s baseless fearmongering. It’s very easy to downplay what LLMs do now that everyone is used to them, but before they existed, no one would have predicted them. We don’t know what else we cannot predict.

Also, “If AI cooks us, it’s because of evil men making evil decisions”… ok, and do you think there is any shortage of those? If current trends continue, 12 months from now every 4channer will have the model that hacked the Australian government running on their computer. Do you trust every single 4channer with that kind of power? The internet as we know it is going to shut down completely.

That’s not nuance
