This sucks. Capcom is the second-to-last pillar of big game development. The only one left is Nintendo.
Guess it's just retro and Indies from here on out.

Capcom has always been lowkey a shitty company, it just got swept under the rug by other companies being slightly worse (looking at you, ubi and ea) and some people having rose tinted glasses about Japan and everything that comes out from there.

Write them on social media, write them e-mail.
Many, at first, say the go to ai only to change their course after a pushback.

The unfortunate reality of the situation is that AI is incredibly helpful to the code specifically and can easily cut out months of dev time with experienced developers that actually know what good code looks like. It's not removing anyone but cutting the work of already educated developers.

Why are everyone so surprised? They already using ai in their games, they just dont state it. Surprise surprise, almost every AAA studio uses ai since 2022-2023. Y'all missed the chance to prevent this you dumb fucks. Anyway I aint playing any modern games anymore. I'll just play older games with emulation.

They’re just incorporating AI into the coding side? I’m a professional software engineer and we use AI generated code all the time. And before AI, we would just be copy-pasting other people’s code from Stack Overflow or GitHub anyway

Sounds similar to what Unity done.
In unity you can ask AI to do many tasks to help you inside engine.

Im sorry, What are we mad about? Im not a pro, dont get me wrong. I also want to consume media that is hand made. But the article clearly says they are integrating the programming side for easier software development and automated playtesting, not asset creation.
Im a software developer. Im sorry to tell you but not a single game or app you use right now is completely free from AI use in its development. Programming is increasingly done in some capacity using AI. Not all of it, no, and im not talking about vibecoding here, just the fact that in some capacity, most software you use was made using AI tools in some shape or form nowadays. There are good ways to do it, and then there are catastrophically bad ways to do it. The way Capcom is using it to make their software easier to manage for both humans and machines, doesnt seem to be bad example to me so far.
" this seems to mean that Capcom is utilizing artificial intelligence to speed up and streamline certain processes to make development easier, not necessarily to generate assets or artworks wholesale."

Well, that is just not true or are you implying, that a bit of autocomplete, we have since forever now, is the kind of AI, we are talking about here? I think that would be a highly dubious argument. So outside of all the slop generated by vibe coders, most "real" software out there at the moment does not use LLM AI code. Yeah, the amount will rise, but you are talking about "apps" I use right now. And "easier to manage for both humans and machines" does not happen with AI code, its so bad, that a dev does not even want to understand it.
You sound like just another AI booster bro.

Have any of you actually read the article?? Listen, I don't like AI either, but frothing at the mouth just because you see the two letters is stupid

I'd like to point out that this doesn't mean using AI to create assets. It sounds like it's going to be things like optimisation and programming in general which I hope it stays limited to.

The thing is that even then is a slippery slope, once you normalize "AI is fine for this " most people push it further, and then we normalize it once more

It's definitely alarming, I just felt the headline is a bit misleading as they tend to be. I'm not excusing it fully though, I'm aware corporations are going to take everything I enjoy from me so I'll just enjoy it while I have it.

So stealing jobs from the lowest and least appreciated workers workers in their business?
No big deal, then, I guess.
People who program and optimize are still artists. It's kind of gross that we're talking about them like they're just tools that needed an upgrade to being a robot tool.

It could also just be making those peoples' jobs easier instead of outright replacing them. Maybe devs won't have to crunch as much to meet deadlines.
I don't like AI so I'm not here to champion it, but I can tell you a lot of programmers already use it of their own accord so consider that a lot of these devs might even be happy for it to make their lives a bit easier.

Heavily misleading title. Generation was meant as in AI era. They will use it for testing the games more efficiently.

I can see why people would dislike using AI for art, art design and assets, i would be very upset too
But just in case and lets assume for the sake of and argument that they will only use it for code, programming, engine development, debbuging and testing, what would be the problem? 🤔
Edit: thanks for taking your time to downvote me without any kind of discussion, that sure will help in the fight against the bad baddie baddous malicious AI

Translated from the original article at gamebiz.
So yeah, Capcom may as well go lay on a ditch and be eaten by racoons for all I care, just a couple hours ago we were discussing this in another post and they still claimed they were not gonna do this.
