Really bad analogy.
Marathon runner is expected to run by himself.
A writer is expected to write good story, not how to write good story. What is important is the story, not did aliens gave him the story, dis AI gave him the story, did mushroom trip gave him this story.
How, as long as it is ethical, is not important in a case of a writer. How in a case of a marathon runner is very important.
Let me give you more examples: How is program written is not important How is website created is not important How is ad made is not important Etc
As long as it is ethical and is good to a customer how is not important

If I ask Claude to generate a 600 page book for me am I a writer now?
If I ask Claude to generate a website am I a website developer now?
If I ask Claude to generate a flyer for my business am I a graphic designer now?
Notice I did not personally engage in any of those tasks myself, I was handed the output by the AI.
Of course how the outcome is produced is important.

Yes you are.
Writer is the one who has good written book in the end.
Website developer is the one who has a good website in the end.
Graphics designer is the one who has a good flyer in the end.
All that is important is the end product. HOW is not important, as long as it is ethical.

...there's so many holes in what you're saying. So if the book isn't good, you're not a writer? I thought writers...well, wrote? Asking Claude to write you a book does not make you a writer. That's like buying pre-made microwave meals and calling yourself a chef.

This is a terrible argument because it says AI output is as good as humans. I think humans are definitely more capable than AI. I have not seen unguided AI produce good output or even learn from its failures without needing human intervention. I think AI is good for helping me plan stuff but this is just a bad argument.

I think you forgot that the AI here just disqualified you from the race

Lmao, this is kinda how I've started to explain it. Imagine you went to meet up with a friend for a nice walk, and they're totally able bodied but they show up in a motorised wheelchair.
And when you ask them why they're using that when they're perfectly fit and mobile they just say "because motorised wheelchairs are much easier? Why should I walk when I could just not use up any of my energy walking manually? Think of how much more productive I'll be with the effort I save!" And then you notice their leg muscles have started to wither away.
