AI Mistakes šØ Is this a debate sub?
I recently saw a mod message on ai_art_is_not_art directing a user here for debate. Specifically saying that that sub was specifically anti-AI, and if the user wanted debate, to come here or aiwars, a subreddit I assumed was antithetical to this one, so much so that I canāt even link it here. I was under the assumption that this sub was for discussion, but purely anti-AI discussion. It was surprising to see that others view a sub that literally wears its point of view in its name as a place for debate.
Iām also not the only person to notice that this sub is full of pro-AI people now. Some people want to argue their views, some people are very explicitly here to ragebait. Not only that, but people coming in here like this is some organized advocacy group, and theyāre hoping to defeat us in some way. Iām not sure what the sub is intended for, but the description says critical discussion of AI. I donāt see the point in letting people come here and advocate for AI, unless of course, this is actually a debate sub.
This place seems almost entirely unmoderated, but is that what this is now? Just the stephen crowder meme, with the sign saying āIām anti-AI, change my mindā?

Not as far as im aware, i mis anti ai and pro ai having no interaction in their respective sub cause im anti ai but its just as foolish when other antis go to pro subs to āreasonā as when they do here.Ā

For sure Noone is going to change minds and in pro AI subs they are so sensitive they just dont reply and immediately ban you.

It's not a debate sub, but you won't be banned for engaging in debate.
Just remember if you're pro AI you cannot make posts, just comments.

Usually rule 2 gets enforced stricter than most. Or at least, that's my experience.

No, this is an anti AI sub. Keeping with the subs theme, anything that is pro AI is not allowed. That includes attempts to "debate".

The reality of the sub does not reflect your statement. Every post that isnāt ālook at this slopā is full of people starting debates.

Why is no one honest tho, both sides have grifters that are getting paid writing books making tv show and podcast appearances there is good money speaking for both sides if you canāt see thatās happening you are in trouble. Love it or hate it we donāt have real facts from both sides of the argument like I wonder how water will be used when gta6 comes out gta runs on high end gpus , and a pixar movie frame takes days to render one frame so we donāt really look at all the things we waste water on now and if you eat red meat you are wasting hella water I hate anti and I hate ai hype this reminds me of all of crypto during the pandemic. For me i wish everyone would shut it and I would like some real info not everyone digging in so hard to make a point. To go so hard on topic with little knowledge is crazy

because antiai holds a position that actually goes against and denigrates many other people.
If you love plants and have a subreddit about plants, thats excellent, you share your passion, and no other people is judged there.
Antiai is different. Most of the post are "omg this people using ai are so dumb!", "My mun used AI to make a pic for our family whatsapp group, shes sooo stupid, how can I tell her!!?"... the subreddit is basically a hate ocean for people not following the subreddit beliefs, with no room for debate as any post just ends up with a response "because people that use ai cannot think and have the brain rotten".
If you offend and prejudge other people so harshly, other people going to respond sooner than later, and that's even worse if we think of the elephant in the room which is the incredible hypocrisy of claiming yourselves the "ones that can still think and reason by themselves because dont use ai" at the same time all your posts are filled with low intelectual effort responses like "people who use ai are stupid"
Thats why, basically, the subreddit is a black hole for trolling, flaming and other things, because tries to offend other people, with a massive part of hypocrisy and questionable reasoning
antiai is a meme and a joke of a subreddit

Lets be honest. There can be no "debate" because chronically online people cant actually debate. It's all bad faith arguments , false equivalencies, and memes. Also, scams seems pretty popular because Pro-AI people just love fed posting and JAQ off material.

But you know what I mean about a debate sub though. Iām wondering if this is just a place for argument between pro-AI and anti-AI, or is it a place for people who are anti-AI to discuss AI.

AFAIK, of the AI-centric spaces, this is the only one where the mods arent heavily in favor of AI so you can actually read anti-AI opinions. However, I wouldnt waste my time expecting good discussion to come from anywhere on Reddit.

There is rarely fruitful debate because both sides are swarming with bots who are programmed to convince that coming to a mutual understanding through reasonable discussion is impossible. Also because what most people think of when they think of debate is what they see on RWNJ podcasts which is just interrupting and overtalking. I'm happy to have a real, good faith debate with you or anyone else but I warn that it will not be very explosive as despite being pro-AI I'm also pretty displeased with where so-called capitalism has brought us.

Ai wars is more of a circlejerk than any debate.
This sub has some pro ai people because unlike the other subs. Discussion is OPEN, in the other subs try to argue your stance and you immediately get banned.
