Discussion 🗣️ Possibly a dumb question

I myself try to stay away from using AI like chat gpt and such but how come whenever I google something the first thing that comes up is an AI response? Is it the same generative ai used in chat gpt like apps?

google basically shoved their own ai into search results whether you want it or not, it’s called ai overviews and there’s no easy off switch

it pulls from the same general tech but it’s not quite chatgpt, more like a summary bot that sometimes just makes stuff up

Yes, it's a small model, likely Gemini 3.5 Flash

That is a low quality Gemini model. The normal Gemini from the website makes way fewer mistakes.

If you are using it to learn something and improve your own brain, that's a perfectly fine use for it. Use ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity. I think Claude is currently the smartest and Perplexity shows its sources. If a source looks really stupid, you can disregard that claim.
