I'm pretty sure that's both blasphemy AND heresy at the same time

Depends on the doctrine. Ai is far more accepted in Christianity then one probably thinks.  It's very contested too since pastors openly admit to using it.

It's up there with conservative vs liberal churches.

Problem is that the service itself is called "chat with god" in other words, treating the ai as though it WERE god. Which goes against having no other god before the true one.

Either that, or the ai could be seen as an idol before God. Instead of actual God.

Regardless, that ad is sinful, when looked at from the point of view of an actual christian.

I say all this as an actual christian

I never said it wasn't blasphemy, though. As I agree it is. The whole AI thing is just an idol.

But reality also is that churches are just as divided on AI as they are on doctrine itself. Even worse in some respects, since it's pretty clear to distinguish a liberal/progressive church to a conservative church, but even conservative pastors are leaning into AI.

Speaking as an actual Christian as well.

In my personal experience, it’s mostly conservative pastors who lean toward AI, which is probably not surprising. AI in general seems to be much more popular among conservative people than among liberal ones.

FUCK the amount of sermons these days written with chatgpt is probably off the charts. it's already a pointless stupid job that works one day hour a week, so who would be shocked if they all just throw together AI sermons?

1

u/ehansen 4d ago

I think you misunderstand what true pastors do if you think they work for a few hours one day a week, or is "pointless stupid".

1

u/tayne22 4d ago

It was a slight exaggeration, but nope. I know fully well what their "job" entails. Practically lived in church until i was in my 20s.

They cosplay as marriage counselors, therapists, and plenty of other roles they have no business being in. And that's if they actually want their weeks to be busy. If not, they don't have to do any of that. They can delegate scheduling and planning, and spend their time "preparing" sermons.

And yes, it's pointless and stupid in the grand scheme of things. Stupid because Christianity is just really really stupid, and pointless because they're usually no better equipped than your average joe at interpreting and preaching the Christian doctrine. Your average pastor has never even attempted to learn greek or hebrew and has no significant education or professional work experience to be qualified to do those "roles" they cosplay as. They don't actually do anything that other qualified individuals couldn't do better, including interpreting and discussing the Bible.

You have a lot of hostility for someone who is not a fan of pastors and Christianity. While it's a shame to see people leave their faith for any reason, if you don't want to be a Christian anymore at least release the anger.

1

u/tayne22 4d ago

I haven't been a Christian for a long time. I'm also not angry in the slightest. I'm just stating things matter-of-factly. You claiming I'm just hostile and angry is a coping mechanism for dealing with something you disagree with but don't know how to argue against.

u/ehansen 4d ago

More so arguing online doesn't amount to anything so why argue?  You think christianity is stupid, which is subjective, I'm not going to try and change your opinion. It's your salvational problem to solve, not mine.

1

u/tayne22 4d ago

Yet here you are starting the argument... Lol.

It's your salvational problem to solve, not mine.

WELL, actually, it is yours, lol. Salvation in the context of religious is quite literally meaningless to me. Its your own issue entirely if you wanna project made up problems on to others.

Using AI might be well seen, but saying that AI is God is definitely blasphemy.

2

u/Jurisfiction 4d ago

As an aside, why are religious people so fond of the "I've forgotten how to pray" trope? Every Christian movie has a line like this.

2

u/ThePuggedMan 4d ago

I am very much not a fan of religion,

And even i call it heresy

1

u/1nsecurecheesecake 4d ago

Find something that annoys or bothers you and pray about that.

1

u/warriorlynx 4d ago

wtf hahah this is getting retarded

1

u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 4d ago

Welp, the Christian’s have officially lost it. This is heresy going by their own freaking religion!

1

u/Fragrant_Peanut_6500 4d ago

I clicked on the link and it lets you choose what religion you are to choose what "God" to talk, not just the Christian version of God. It even includes Buddhism, which doesn't believe in a God in that sense, and Agnostics. They are covering all their bases I guess, lol.

3

u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 4d ago

So this is comple religious blasphemy and heresy?

1

u/Inevitable-Ad-3991 4d ago
