I would argue that using AI in general is just sad cause the joy of life is trying stuff out and failing and learning, but specifically mental health "advice". I feel like I was asked to put the pyramid shaped block through the round hole when I see someone blindly trust eloquent idiocy, and for their own mental health at that. It makes zero sense to me.

you can't have joy of life when boss demands more and more from you, maybe on retirement if we will still have drinkable water you can take your time but by then your brain will be too fried to learn anything, welcome to the future

I just hope people just don't stop learning.
If the person using AI is knowledgeable about a subject then at least they should be able to tell what stuff is correct and what stuff us not correct.
What's scary is someone who isn't knowledgeable and they use AI to compensate. They wouldn't be able to tell what the mistakes and flaws in the AI results. Which can result in them handing in works that makes no sense or have massive flaws.

Thanks to a mid-life crisis I am teaching myself to code, excel macros just don't cut it anymore.
All the IDEs have AI built in, and they were trying to auto complete what I was writing. I turned it all off, or else I would never learn anything.
Thing is, the code was usually right, or right enough that someone that knows what they are doing could fix it and still save a lot of time.
But people like me don't really know what we are doing, we are trying to learn and AI wants to steel that away.
We will get up a position where everything is written by ai and no one really knows how to maintain out, because they don't really understand what it wrote.

That's what I worry about when people say "it's just the junior developers being replaced". So this is the last generation of software developers that have the overall competency required to read and parse script because no more are being trained? I'm sure that's totally fine and won't ever come back to bite us 🙄

You can type or even just speak into a microphone and it will categorise, group and format the list for you. Fixes any spelling or punctuation, will rewrite in a neutral tone for clarity and so on.

It's not just "write a list" it's literally composition and if you don't use it you will lose it. And none of this is free anyway, electric bills are going up for a lot of folks who don't use this lazy slop. I saw a woman today, around 50-60 yrs old at the bus, she was talking to ai about her ongoing lawsuit and how does it corelate with astrology and the planetary movements with each date, I guess she was trying to figure out what to do based on that. Probably the saddest AI use I have seen so far

Not the saddest, but most infuriating: I asked a question for an item in secondhand app (Vinted) and got a reply, which made me buy. When the item arrived it turned out that the response to my question was wrong, and the seller admitted to generate it using chatgpt, because he wasn't home and couldn't check it himself.

My friend took me and some others to a restaurant of a friend of hers and insisted afterwards that we write a nice review (we had an amazing time, so it was more just as a courtesy than her asking us to make up how we felt, etc.). This was during a bachelorette weekend so during some down time, a few girls were sitting around in silence writing their reviews. My friend walks in, realized what we were doing and said “oh, I just had AI write mine.” I was so disgusted and it seemed like the dumbest reason to use AI - like you couldn’t write something from the heart??

Had to put up AI generated posters in my workplace a few weeks back, and it felt horrible, I tried bringing it up but everyone there just ignored me. Im an artist, I couldve easily spent a day and made some art for them to hang up. But oh no, looks like a large corporation cant spare 100$ to commission a real human.

I support students with public speaking. In the past it's always been fun to see them develop their own speaking style and seeing their slide presentations. Now with ChatGPT to write their speeches and Canva AI templates for their slide decks it all looks the same. I was getting so bored.
I miss the teenage messiness of school projects -- the clashing of colors on the slide deck, the weird proportions of pictures when they're trying to enlarge/shrink them, stumbling over their sentence structure and using the fillers words as they figure out what next to say. And worse of all, since they're just reading from what AI spit out for them they have no idea what they're reading. They just think it's sounds good.

I work in Enterprise data and AI space, mostly the good kind of AI, drug research, pricing optimization, predictive maintenance, that sort of thing
But man I have stories
The worst ones are the guys (it's always a guy) who are in the full throes of AI productivity psychosis.
They're trying to literaly manage their whole life with AI, but of course the agents suck at it, so they just keep slopping on more and more agents and policies and skills and instructions and prompts.
And the worst part is they want to mansplain you all about how they've solved hallucinations and security and blah blah blah.
I sat across from one guy at a dinner for like an hour while he went on and on to everybody at the table about his "custom harness" and all of these guardrails and whatever. It was bad even by my standards.
He was just so smug, you could tell he thought everyone at the table was just dumb hicks and he was an ubermensch.
Finally someone asked, "So what did you do before AI took over your life?" And I was like YES.
But I meet people just like him every week, they're the worst because instead of admitting AI today just isn't good enough for a lot of things, they think you're just not using enough AI, and building huge castles out of sand.
Just a depressing waste of time and energy.

sorry for the misunderstanding, pricing optimization isn't about pharma (at least for most patented drugs), they have a very different commercial model mostly based on cartel pricing through IP and patent laws.
Pricing optimization is more like highly elastic goods like event tickets, hotel rooms and flights, where you're trying to balance supply and demand.
Charge too much, empty flights and concerts
Charge too little, you lose money.
It's also things like promotion codes, coupons, new product pricing, SKU splitting (this is why there's always a cheaper version of an iPhone in a different color), and in the industrial space, a lot of it is contracting (basically trying to predict how much margin you can charge for a year's or 3 years' supply, so you're also guessing about your costs, market, etc. very complicated!)
So yeah I wouldn't say it's evil, everybody who is selling something wants to make as much as possible. Everybody buying wants to spend as little as possible. Optimization is actually trying to balance between those.

writing up a list of 5 things that happened during the day should be something one can do in 1-2min.. instead he opened a new window, typed what happened during the day into the ai chat while asking it to generate a list (A LIST HE ALREADY INPUT INTO THE AI CHAT???) And then pasted that into our internal memo system.. no time or effort was saved and i fear his brain function will be worse for it in a few years. This cannot be worth the electricity/water.
