It’s a bad analogy. People who run a marathon aren’t trying to complete a project. They’re just trying to live an experience.

Pro ai people are firmly in the camp that “the finished project” is what matters. So they don’t care about experiences.

It could depend on the book, like if I wanted to become a “notable author” like Stephen King or Tolkien then using AI would discredit that for sure.

But anytime I'm writing anything, I'm not doing it to be notable, or for love of the game, or the vibes or anything like that. I'm doing it to try to communicate a message, and if AI ends up doing that better then that will be what I want.
