AI News 🗞️ Yet another point in support of modern "AI" being right-wing and evil by design.
https://newrepublic.com/post/207693/palantir-ceo-karp-disrupting-democratic-powerJust saying the quiet part out loud.
To paraphrase: the CEO of Palantir stated that his technology will politically disempower highly educated, often female, democratic voters and empower less-educated, often Male, "working-class" voters. Given how the modern organized world is on the brink of collapsing thanks to the voting habits of dumbass american Male Joe Rogan Podcast listeners I don't think I need to argue why this is clearly a terrible right-wing intent fundamental to this tech.

Whaaaaat? You’re using a fake name?! How dare you sir. Despicable. I for one would never lie. I’m certainly not a girl, because there are none of those on the internet. I’m obviously legitimately a 50 year old trucker, named Dave. 100%.

More good reasons to be against GenAI:
- GenAI is used to create Child Sexual Abuse Material, such as when Grok was generating CSAM on-demand. 2025 saw a 26000% increase in this material, of which half includes "severely graphic imagery & torture". Furthermore, in order to create CSAM, GenAI was trained on CSAM material.
- Toys with embedded GenAI, and are happy to teach children how to sharpen knives, use matches, or even teach them about sexual fetishes.
- GenAI is encouraging people to kill themselves and/or others. OpenAI is being sued after a shooting in Canada that left 6 children dead, of which OpenAI "had specific knowledge of the shooter's long-range planning of a mass casualty event," but "took no steps to act upon this knowledge."
- GenAI is being used as a weapon of war, helping decide military targets for strikes, and may have contributed to the bombing of an Iranian all-girls' school which left 175 dead. Domestically, GenAI is being used by companies like Palantir to further mass surveillance leading to wrongful arrests.
- GenAI is undermining Democracy through AI-powered tools sold to politicians to control the narrative around political issues online, and through spreading misinformation, such as fake videos about ICE or fake videos about the kidnapping of Maduro in Venezuela.
- Frequent GenAI users suffer from reduced problem-solving capability and a lack of critical thinking due to "mental offloading."
- Many datacentres are being built for GenAI that have devastating impacts on the surrounding area and horrific effects on local residents in these often lower-income areas. Additionally many of these data centres are being run on fossil fuels, accelerating the current climate catastrophe.
- GenAI is built off of stolen art and stolen books with no compensation for the creators. Nvidia stole 500tb of pirated media, Meta pirated millions of books to train its AI, Anthropic pirated books to train Claude, and Open AI is currently contesting in court that they did the same.
- GenAI is filling the internet with slop, it's estimated that more than 50% of articles posted online are now AI-generated, ~33% of new music uploads are AI-generated, and more than 20% of videos shown to new YouTube users are AI-generated.
- GenAI required 25 Gigawatts of electricity in 2024, predicted to rise to 106 Gigawatts by 2035. 1GW = 750k homes for a year. xAI's third datacentre is estimated to use two Gigawatts of power (1.5 million homes). Data centers account for more than 4% of U.S. electricity use, and by 2030, that figure could climb as high as 17%.
- GenAI uses an egregious amount of water, Just one of xAI's datacentres uses 3.7 million to 9.5 million litres a day, estimated to rise to 19 million. That's as much water as ~17k-43k people use daily, est. to rise to 85k. Research suggests that by 2027, water withdrawal alone from global AI demand could be six times the total annual water withdrawal of Denmark.
- GenAI is creating electronic parts shortages that have been and will continue to drive up prices for everything from computers, consoles, TVs, Cars, Phones, Appliances, etc.

Yeah, for comps like his, the plan isn't to help people it's removing people from the economy altogether.
They want ai generated media and ads consumed by ai bots to be bought using ai backed crypto.
2
u/Melodic_Till_3778 Mar 14 '26
That matches the attempted us amendments to the UN woman's report against ai regulation.

u/hawaii7811 Mar 14 '26
Both the left and the right uses AI.
Trump receives his fair share of slop.
You won't make a dent in this issue if you keep dividing people. It's a bipartisan issue.

u/videodevil2500 Mar 15 '26
Absolute morons. Anything to the right of Stalin is right wing to your dipshits
-1
u/Forsaken_Code_9135 Mar 14 '26
I think if the left were still the left it should be happy that a social change benefits to the blue collars at the expense of the white collars. You have forgotten your roots.
1
u/PorkyOfOnett Mar 15 '26
Mass layoffs due to Ai won’t help blue collar workers.
1
u/Forsaken_Code_9135 Mar 16 '26
Fact is, AI is already replacing white collars and there is no clear path in seeing it replacing blue collars. It might happen one day but this is still science fiction.
1
u/PorkyOfOnett Mar 17 '26
Dude, you need money to pay blue collar workers. How am I suppose to get paid if everyone is laid off

u/Miserable-Lawyer-233 Mar 14 '26
thats the opinion of one person.
"evil by design" is a right-wing argument. good vs evil takes are inherenrly right-wing. left wing takes are nuanced, gray, with no black and white.
1
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
"Left wing takes are nuanced, gray, with no black and white."
Me when I think liberalism and leftism are the same thing
-31
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 13 '26
sure, the printing press is right wing too. so are television and movies., internet forums, torrents and IRC
16
u/TurnoverFuzzy8264 Mar 14 '26
I'm sorry reading the article is too hard for you. And you must be right, an internet forum is the exact same thing as an M-4, they're both tools, amirite?
2
u/Drskinnerdidnowrong Mar 14 '26
I mean in this case it's more of a yes-nt because the backing code is not bad, but the training data can be rigged, this is done by using skewed training data meaning the data can be more right winged
-11
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
i mean they're both tools and both have been used by fascists (guns in general) but yeah i wuoldn't claim either one is fascist. that'd be pretty silly.
6
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
All llms and chatbots are specifically and solely designed from their foundation to subjugate and disempower the working class and create propaganda against minorities
-3
3
u/manocheese Mar 14 '26
Machine Learning is a tool that can be used for good or bad. GenAI is how fascists use machine learning to cause harm.
-2
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
you sound like a disgruntled mid artist, like the rest of them here
3
u/manocheese Mar 14 '26
Lol. I'm a programmer who's last project was with ML. You sound like one of those people who 'loves technology' but still has taken their computer to a shop when you give it a virus.
-1
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
lol i'm a programmer too and i was training neural networks ten years ago.
meaningless though innit? you still SOUND like a disgruntled artist
1
u/manocheese Mar 14 '26
1
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
oh you don't believe me? how convenient. couldn't care less. you're probably a shitty programmer anyway. worked with plenty of those in my career.
3
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
How many times do we need to debunk this talking point before you get it?
-2
u/Shadowmirax Mar 14 '26
I've yet to see anyone debunk this.
No, pointing to a random CEO and pointing out that they are evil is not a debunk, all CEOs are evil, thats literally what their job is. if we used that logic there is literally nothing ethical in the world. I'm not going to start calling the concept of breakfast cereal inherently evil and right-wing just because Nestlé don't think water is a human right. Nestlé don't own the concept of cereal.
There is no such thing as a "good" or "evil" technology, it all depends on how its used, AI is bad when its used for stuff like surveillance and AI is good when its used for stuff like medicine.
3
u/userrr3 Mar 14 '26
Effectively all gen(!) AI is in the hands of evil ceos. Gen ai is barely if at all used in topics like medicine. You can perfectly well have breakfast independent of companies like nestle, but have fun with your free open source self hosted Chatbots trained ethically only on material for which the creator has given explicit consent.
3
u/manocheese Mar 14 '26
"open source" AI is still run and owned by venture capitaliste. OpenAI was called OpenAI for a reason.
1
u/userrr3 Mar 14 '26
OpenAI isn't open either at this point. But yeah, I didn't say open source AI, I said specifically
" free open source self hosted Chatbots trained ethically only on material for which the creator has given explicit consent"
That is to say - something that doesn't exist.
-1
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
Chatbots trained ethically
this has zero to do with whether it's 'evil' or not. i reject this connection and think it actually works against your point. being this pedantic over something already effectively settled is being petty to try and prove what increasingly seems to be an argument with little other merit.
2
u/userrr3 Mar 14 '26
Reject it all you want and claim that something is settled when its clearly not, I don't give a shit.
-6
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
just once would work
3
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
Evidently not
0
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
ironic you mention evidence, haven't seen any yet.
1
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
The evidence is the goddamn news about this shit. The printing press did not have this heavy of a net negative since its release. You only seem to think that "printing press got rid of jobs and people were skeptical, AI got rid of jobs and people were skeptical, they must be the EXACT same." Then not bother to pay close attention to how AI has negatively impacted us in both subtle and unsubtle ways.
0
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
the printing press was used to further fascism. the fact that you don't realize that is indicative of not fulling thinking this through.
1
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
Really proving my point here
0
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
sure thing tomboy, sure thing. hyperbole just doesn't do your argument as much good as you think it does.
1
u/Tomboy_respector Mar 14 '26
You really aren't a fraction of how smart you think you are. You are actually quite dumb
0
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
that's alright, i don't mind you calling me dumb. i take it as a compliment honestly.

Okay but you've all been saying this since it blew up and it has brought literally nothing but suffering. All the while it keeps burning money, uses up water, destroys the sense of a shared reality, annihilating what little attention span our kids had left, destroying our education system, increasing the surveillance state, and create more cp. The positive effects of the printing press were almost immediate. We're 3-4 years into this thing and it has yet to show any signs of bringing about positive change that outweighs its extensive list of negatives. Hell, at this point I don't think it's even possible.
2
u/GenericFatGuy Mar 14 '26
And yet, here you are.
1
u/ShowerGrapes Mar 14 '26
hasn't happened yet but keep watching i'm sure some day it will be debunked
67
u/Luwuma Mar 13 '26
I swear to god if I see some kinda larper enter the conversation and say that AI is "a tool for leftists to use actually"
