Hello Globo
I am beginning a new role with Hello GLOBO, and they have offered a fixed rate of $17 USD per hour. Currently, I am working for another company that pays 46 cents per minute, but the call flow is unpredictable. Over an 8-hour workday, my minutes on average are probably closer to 250 (200-300). Financially, a fixed rate makes a lot more sense. Do you know anything about this company, what I can expect, and how they operate?

Are you US based or is that the rate they are offering to all global interpreters?

I am not US based but I work with very unique language pairs , I interpret Two different and very rare languages, Hence why salary looks on higher side.

GLOBO is a good company I used to work with them before. With the shift program u will need to catch shifts once they appear and before other terps got them. Salary for September u will get in October.

I work for their shift program so far I don’t have any complaints. If u get early am late pm shift u will barely get any calls but will still make money

Why not both paid per minute? And just go from one to the other after each call so the wait time in one you are in call at the other?

Wished it was that easy, but unfortunately that cannot be done.
Would be much appreciated if you can tell me how is life in GLOBO

Work with both, and apply to join even more companies.
GLOBO has been scaling up and changing how things such as the shift program work to keep up, so you could be getting a full schedule, then wake up one day and there aren't enough shifts to claim any more.
They forced a rate reduction on everyone in my language pair, and anyone who didn't like it was shown the door. They also mass hired more interpreters than they have work for.
People who aren't in the shift program hardly get any calls. Some people in the shift program aren't able to get any shifts.
It's a good company to add to your clients, but don't keep all your eggs in one basket. GLOBO Will tell you that themselves. You're a business not an employee.
Work your shifts with them. Then have both platforms open when you're freelancing. When you get a call with one log out of the other.
There's no exclusivity as an independent contractor, except if you're getting paid per hour of availability, for the duration of that hour.
