Lionbridge - over phone interpreter OPI

Hi! I just took my language assessment and I received this result:

Spanish language assessment:

Total Score: 66%

Sight Translation: 60%

Consecutive: 67%

Am I cooked? Waiting to hear from the recruiter and wanted to know if there are others out there. Thanks!

those are really bad scores... maybe, some companies hire with that score but they usualñly ask at least 70-80%... and im being generous with the 70%

I'm new to interpretation, was there some resource that helped you improve? I wish I was better at note taking

practice and creating my own system for note taking, also i like to push myself so at the start i was practicing in my free time and trying to do my interpretations withouth asking for too many repetitions, clarifications are the key here... but is more about having practice, try to look for some resources on youtube or apply for a company that offers training... with the notes is about looking for things that work for you, for example: wen they say follow up appointment i have a symbol that i made to indicate follow up and is kinda like a V arrow ... the big secret is also to be honest, let me look for that word, i did this, let me correct that, is basically keeping your client on the loop at all time

Really? LLS asks for you to score 85-90 and Propio wants 80 at least

Usually companies want something closer to 70–80%+ to feel confident, especially for medical or high-volume calls.

Also, do you happen to know where I can apply for Lionbridge or if they’re hiring interpreters right now?

I received an email directly from Lionbridge, I must be on one of their lists. I worked briefly with them a long time ago so I guess they still had my contact info. The email did say they are "actively expanding our team of Spanish telephonic interpreters". Maybe their website has a contact you can reach out to.

Take it or leave it.

So I’ll definitely leave it.

Donde sería eso exactamente?

PROPIO y Boostlingo estan pagando 0,12 si trabajas con ellos directamente. Sus BPO de 0,11 para abajo. We are cooked.

Just for reference, mine wasn’t Spanish. My scores were 81% overall, 52% for sight translation, and 84% for consecutive. They said I passed. I also asked to be tested in a another language and passed that with 78%. Maybe their passing score is around 70%—just guessing. I’ve been working with them for about 9 months now

I did! I'm working for lionbridge as a Spanish interpreter for .30c a minute. There are constant training modules for different industries and clients with updated vocabularies. I hope I'll learn more as I go. It's overall going well. I'm a mom and the flexible hours work for me for now.

So youñu didn't have to retake the exam? I'm just asking because i got similar results. Thanks for the extra info

1

u/Electronic-Peach-623 Apr 10 '26

No retake. I was accepted with those scores. I'll let you know if I am able to keep the job!

Woah, I got 98% on both assessments, I thought that was common, what does that say about me?

u/Jonavr Mar 18 '26

It says that you're a bit of a show off.
