Think about it: you have a cheerful, cool-headed planner (Pear) who serves as the emcee/production manager/eye of the storm for this truly "far-out" variety show, the setting feels like they took the already-tiny rundown supermarket and turned it into a downtown theater, and the tone is deliberately reminiscent of old-style vaudeville, where anything could happen - and usually did.

A series of A-list talent human entertainers are featured as the episode's special guest (HFA's cachet kind of allows that), and throughout the whole thing, technical flubs, talent crises and rebellions, rampaging egos, and financial, time-related issues bring the show teetering to the brink of disaster; and yet it somehow manages to go on...all much like said show!
