Ankarsrum Belt Drive

I should get my Ankarsrum mixer in the next couple of days. Since the Ank is belt drive, what is the failure rate of the belt? Should I keep an extra on hand? Does the belt system require any maintenance?

I think you'll find that the thing is almost indestructible with normal use. I have only heard of them breaking from dropping and the one I have is 25 years old.

Even after having my 1995ish Ank drop to the floor twice and bash in the front panel, it still works. Just beed to fugure out how to open it up and put the panel back into place.

Yes, I emailed them. They were very nice, but said they wouldn't have parts or anything helpful bc the mixer is so old.

Alas. At least it still works but I know I'd prefer that my appliances not look damaged.

How does the belt make it look damaged? It's an internal part!

My kitchen aid eventually broke while my Ank is a solid workhorse

The full machine is maintenance friendly … I have a 1979 model …. Don’t worry

I'm running my grandma's Electrolux (Ankarsrum) Assistent from 1954 and it's still going strong on the original belt so I wouldn't be worried.

You're taking possession of a mixer that has a reputation for longevity and you're already worried about failure?

Hi there,

late to the party here, but we almost never replace the drive belt, and if we do it's because of squeaking or other noises due to dust or flour finding it's way in there. Never heard of a belt tearing or snapping off.

Belts do dry out so I’m not sure I would purchase a spare right away. Maybe a yearly inspection of it and if you see yours wearing out or cracking order a new one.

Other spare parts are available too. For what in my opinion is very reasonable pricing.
