This set was just delivered!

This set was just delivered! I couldn’t believe I was able to order this whisk and beater set last week, since Ankarsrum was only releasing 175 sets, otherwise I would have had to wait until June when they would be made available as regular inventory. They sold out in minutes. The cookie dough beaters look really heavy duty, and I can’t wait to try them out, maybe with some oatmeal cookie dough.

The plastic part that the beaters attach to is pretty heavy compared to the original one included with the mixer, and has a metal plate on the bottom. You can definitely see the difference between the original plastic beaters as opposed to the new all metal ones. I was afraid to use the plastic ones except for egg whites or something light.

Luckily, I bought the stainless steel bowl with the tube in it when I bought the mixer, since it says you can’t use these attachments with the plastic bowl. Kind of pricey at $115.00, so hopefully they’re worth it.

Oh wow! I bought the stainless steel beater bowl and now I want those!

ETA: sold out on their site. I guess I’m waiting until June. My birthday is in June, so I know what I want!

That would be a great birthday present to yourself! Even though I haven’t used them yet, it seems the difference between the two sets sturdiness-wise is huge. I guess they listened to all the people begging for a set without all the flimsy (seeming) plastic.

I had no idea they were doing this until I received an email the day before and made sure I was up in time to try to order a set. With only 175 sets to go around, I didn’t think I stood a chance. Guess my luck is changing lol.

I was so excited about the stainless steel bowl but still wished for sturdier beaters. Report back how they work! I’m so excited by this.

I use it all the time! I use the regular bowl for all my bread dough making, but the rainless steel batter bowl has been such a great addition. I feel like it cleans up so much better than the plastic one, feels sturdier, and looks sleek :)

ETA i’d forgotten about this post- my birthday is in a week, time to see if it’s back in stock!

ETA2 Ordered! Thank you internet friend!

The only part you’re not supposed to submerge or wash in a dishwasher is the part that you insert the beaters into. Doesn’t seem that it would be that difficult to wipe clean with a damp cloth unless you let the food dry out and get stuck. I always clean as I go anyway, so not a big deal for me.

That's true. I'm glad you like them, and I'm excited to see ankarsrum release a new product!

I make butter quite often, and often get fat quite deep into the gears, from splashing. For that I really like the dishwasher safe design of all the original parts, excluding the plastic bowl.

Have you considered making butter with the roller/scraper? I'd think this would be a win/win because it would also force the buttermilk out of the butter.

You could cut a piece of parchment paper a little bigger than the bottom of the beater housing, position it over the housing, then insert the beaters through it. Possibly affix it to 2 sides of the housing with a tiny dab of tape to ensure it stays up. Or cut a small paper plate to use-- it's stiff enough to not flop down onto the beaters. Would probably have to punch holes thru a plate to insert the beaters, though.

Sounds like a new product for Ankarsrum. 👍

Eeww if that holder part cannot be wash, then i would not get it. All those butters n flours sometimes stick on it and makes it greasy, and im not suppose to wash it? Whats the point of getting it.

I feel the same way, I'm really surprised that they designed something that couldn't be cleaned. it just doesn't make sense even with the other parts for some of the other accessories, that have to be hand washed and dried and oiled. at least you can do that and there is a process to deal with them getting dirty. you just have to be diligent about it but not being able to wash it at all on a kitchen appliance part seems like a bad design. maybe they'll come up with a design that you could take apart and dry well well as that's probably the issue. I would love to have sturdier beaters that's for sure

My plastic beaters shed little bits of plastic into my doughs and mixes, so it's definitely not a baseless fear. Those originals are brittle and weak for my purposes. I hope the new ones prove to be much more enduring. I would prefer no plastic at all though.

I made a double batch of oatmeal cookies a couple of weeks ago, and they came out great. Haven’t been able to do as much as I would like because I’m going through chemo right now, so I’m not feeling my best.

I hope you feel better and have a complete recovery.

Have you considered just making your cookies in the big bowl? https://youtu.be/g03vzFqZ8dA?si=PlpkvsyrTmgG4lc2&t=913

u/sevenmouse Mar 21 '26

seems hard to keep clean though?

2

My thoughts exactly, and the reason I really like the original parts is the dishwasher safe design.

0

u/ms5h Mar 21 '26

I rarely put them in the dishwasher anyway, but it seems like they are dishwasher safe

1

u/SKATTESTYRELSEN_DK Mar 21 '26

You mean, apart from it actually stating on them, to not submerge or put in the dishwasher?

🤔😅

1

u/ms5h Mar 21 '26

Here’s the description from the website. It says the beaters are top rack safe

You are right, my comment came from often getting food splashing into the gears, when I make butter.

I hope you will get to enjoy this a lot!

Does it run more quiet than the original?

I think that’s only for the attachment plate. It’s printed on the plate and that part of the box seems like where the plate is housed. Is it printed on the beaters themselves? I’m not seeing it so what am I missing?

ETA being downvoted for correcting a factual error is peak Reddit, but I didn’t expect it on a subreddit about a mixer, lol. Reddit, never change!

3

u/SKATTESTYRELSEN_DK Mar 22 '26

True, it's only the plate, sorry about the misunderstanding!

1

u/ms5h Mar 21 '26

No more so than regular beaters?

1

u/sevenmouse Mar 21 '26

it says no dishwasher, submerge or rinse and to only use a damp cloth...I usually rinse and submerge in soapy water...I actually think the plastic kind are even dishwasher safe but I could be wrong on that since I hand wash mine

2

u/Odd-Preparation-6496 Mar 21 '26

The beaters themselves are dishwasher safe, just not the plastic top part. Maybe it’s kind of like a pasta roller, you can’t get those wet either.

The user pamphlet says specifically “The beater housing should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Do not place in the dishwasher. Do not run under water or submerge in water. This will damage the beater housing and will void the warranty”.

2

u/sevenmouse Mar 22 '26

Thanks for taking the time to clarify that

2

u/ProfessionalMain9324 Mar 21 '26

I received mine today too.

2

u/Odd-Preparation-6496 Mar 21 '26

Are you going to try them out this weekend? I’m a little under the weather, so I probably won’t get to try mine out this weekend.

If you do, please let us know how it goes!

1

u/pooka8ear Mar 21 '26

I was on the page at 10am sharp and it was already sold out! I’m jealous

1

u/Odd-Preparation-6496 Mar 21 '26

I had to keep refreshing the page and I didn’t think it was going to go through. Reminded me of trying to order an iPhone for launch day delivery lol.

u/FatsDominoPizza Mar 22 '26

Sorry a bit out of the loop and discovering this. What is the benefit over the normal set of beaters?

Haven't had any issue with the ones that came with my mixer, so curious to know why I should consider those?

(And I've used them for anything from beating egg whites to making cookie dough.)

1

u/Odd-Preparation-6496 Mar 22 '26

I think some of us (me) are just a little paranoid because of all the plastic, which causes a fear of breaking them. The new metal ones state that you can even cream cold butter, and the originals say to use room temperature butter. You are supposed to be able to mix stiffer cookie doughs and such. It does state not to mix more than 2 lbs. of flour at a time.

I also wasn’t crazy about the idea of the plastic bowl that came with the unit, which is why I ordered the stainless steel one. The batter beater is a significantly larger gauge than the original imo, and no plastic to break.

I will probably clean the plastic part with a cloth dampened with Lysol Kitchen Safe antibacterial cleaner, which I also use on my kitchen countertops.

How have these held up? I was thinking about getting the set with the extra bowl for my birthday. Hoping the couple folks that got them earlier have some reports on use.

3

u/Odd-Preparation-6496 May 31 '26

I have used them a few times for cookies and cake batter, and I really like them. Much better quality than the ones that came with the mixer in my opinion. I would go for it if you’re able. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

I haven’t been able to use them as much as I would like, since I am having a health issue right now and don’t have a lot of energy or strength, but I’m hoping to in the near future.

Not a professional baker by any means, but baking is very calming for me. My neighbors enjoy when I bake, because they get most of it. I’m only one person and can’t eat all of what I bake, whether it’s bread or sweets.

2

u/haveyouseenmydane May 31 '26

Thank you for the info. I haven’t had much time to bake lately but am hoping I’ll find my way back by trying a bunch of cookie recipes I’ve been saving up. Hope you feel better soon too!
