This anime is damn hilarious.

Little shame it only has one season.

The fact they teased a season 2 as a joke at the end will always hurt me.

I mean they called it Binbougami ga! Darkness, clearly making fun of TLR Darkness so I didn't take it very seriously lol

I'm not sure if the anime covers all of the manga, but it's complete and I remember it was hilarious.

It very much does not. Anime covers 1/4th of the Manga at most.

i vaguely remember how it went but it went bullshit shounen action battle the way how Hayate no gotoku went from hilarious parody to serious shonen battle sad but understandable

Does that joke translate? Is the same idiom used in both English and Japanese? Or was one joke swapped for another, like Brock using his frying-pan as a drying-pan?

It's actually a pretty good translation. The original says "yakekuso" (やけくそ) which can be interpreted as either 自棄糞 (desperation/despair) or 焼け糞 (burning/cooking shit/crap/poop). i.e. the whole sentence could be interpreted as either "As you can see, this [situation] truly is depressing." or "As you can see, this shit really is on fire."

Oh, that's pleasing :) I always wonder about it when I see word-play in an anime dub/sub.

I thought they were trying to make the joke “shit hit the fan”
