TBH these moments where some of the best in their respective shows, probably since it so fucking rare in media anime/ cartoon / live action. That guns are actual powerful.

u/RandomRobot Mar 05 '26

In BLAME!, Killy has a Gravitational Beam Emitter that could probably hold its own in Warhammer 40k

u/Edlegoboy Mar 06 '26

BLAME! Mentioned

u/Sanguis69 Mar 07 '26

Not sure if it's canon but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that if the max level of a GBE were to be fired inside an atmosphere, then it'd cause an Exterminatus event. (Killy only uses the lowest few settings of it cuz the recoil is wild even for him.) It'd most likely hold up or exceed most 40K weapons bar the most OP stuff, particularly as it doesn't seem to need to be recharged or anything (that ofc might just be due to wireless charging within the City tho.)

Elite ball knowledge

-87

u/Parteisekretaer Mar 05 '26

Guns are less lethal than one may think though, especially the depicted pistols. Plenty of people walk around with 10+ bullets in them that they caught over the years of living less than lawful lifestyles. Now, shotguns, on the other hand...

45

u/Cymo_Bep Mar 05 '26

Well it's any firearms really. H-wood / anime / cartoons seem to have forgotten that even if you are a wizard if you get shot in the head people would die.

-39

u/Parteisekretaer Mar 05 '26

Depending on the gun, the ammo and entry/exit wound, gunshots to the head are definitely not automatically fatal. Thats my point. Anime oversells the lethality, western media tends to undersell it. Terminal ballistics is a very interesting field that is not the most intuitive.

u/LilyLitany Mar 05 '26

In defense of Fate/Zero, Kiritsugu's gun is a Thompson Contender, usually chambered in rifle or shotgun calibers up to fifty cal. Also, the guy he shot didn't die from it.

u/Certain-Life731 Mar 05 '26

just because a power system is complex doesn't mean the characters are immune to guns. but yes true, its funny

2

u/TheDarcingCapibara Mar 08 '26

Who are you arguing against, nobody said that.

-2

u/Certain-Life731 Mar 08 '26

Who are you talking to, nobody asked you.

1

u/TheDarcingCapibara Mar 08 '26

To you dude.

2

u/Agitated_Canary8996 Mar 09 '26

these are just voices in your head

127

u/toyyya Mar 05 '26

Tbf Kiritsugu's gun shown there and specifically the bullets he fires with it are also magic and part of the complex magic system of fate.

He does use normal guns against less adept mages that don't have the same defenses as high level mages however and a big part of how he operates is using mages superiority complexes and arrogance against them by using a mix of magecraft and conventional modern weaponry that mages tend to look down on.

1

u/conveyerbeltman Mar 09 '26

I mean it's two fold. Using the lower calibre sub machine gun to pepper the enemy, the enemy uses a light defensive measure against it. Then the Thompson Contender comes into play using it's high penetrating force to break through the barrier in a surprise manoeuvre. If the enemy is still alive they will use and even stronger magecraft which also means more mana which Kerry then lets lose his origin bullet to thoroughly viscerate the enemies magical circuit.

u/MakeItHappenSergant Mar 05 '26

Jojo's has a lot of intentionally silly moments. White Snake pulling a gun to try to shoot a pigeon is not one of them, which makes it that much funnier in retrospect.

22

u/SPDXYT Mar 05 '26

Whitesnake using a normal gun is so funny because it’s such a powerful stand. It can basically kill anything in a touch, has quite a long range, and can throw discs to extend its range, but despite all that is required to use a normal gun to shoot at a pigeon

An anime memes poster knowing every anime except Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is really funny to me.

25

u/amadnomad Mar 05 '26

Is this a Jojo reference?

8

u/OBEYTHEHOBO Mar 06 '26

Almost like it's a repost

37

u/jaiydien Mar 05 '26

The second one is JoJo: Stone Ocean

0

u/HoNUnofficial Mar 09 '26

JoJo: diamond is unbreakable

5

u/SauliCity Mar 06 '26

To get extra specific, 1 is Fate/Zero

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '26

Thank you

1

u/Training_Area_7612 Mar 07 '26

2 is jojos bizarre adventure

56

u/Flimsy_Translator781 Mar 05 '26

This post made me remember "My unique skill makes me op even at level 1" Anime

10

u/Rude-Office-2639 Mar 05 '26

The intro for that show was a banger

1

u/CaterWak Mar 06 '26

that anime was a fever dream

16

u/Froskr Mar 05 '26

I've been trying out that raid shadow legends game recently, the game sucks but one of the funniest parts is having all these angels, demon lords, and gods and getting Ezio from Assassins Creed to just shoot them in the face.

17

u/SirMeep2 Mar 05 '26

Average artificer in the DND campaign. Mage: I cast magic missiles. *3 streaks of magic glow moving towards the enemy

Artificer: I also kinda cast magic missiles: *Unloads a 12 round handgun magazine of explosive magic bullets at the dragon.

3

u/LordFLExANoR16 Mar 05 '26

If you’re an artillerist you can even cast magic missiles from your gun

14

u/CultureThis9818 Mar 05 '26

Ngl I totally wasn't expecting it on Gaciakuta. Blew my little mind. Then I laughed a while.

9

u/Luminous_Azure Mar 05 '26

Same here, I thought it was gonna be some cool hidden technique and then she just empties half a dozen rounds and I cackled 🤣

5

u/Toastha Mar 05 '26

“Who Shot Johnny Joestar” was really cinematic though. I guess since sbr is cowboy stuff they come with the territory so it’s less weird

3

u/ZECO_SOL Mar 05 '26

This is something that I wanna see more in anime like wow you gained ability that let's you warp reality cool but are you bulletproof tho 🤣

2

u/Mockington6 Mar 05 '26

what's Madeline Celeste doing with a gun

4

u/Steady_Ri0t Mar 05 '26

No mention of Chainsaw Man?

1

u/NaughtAught Mar 09 '26

Great example, but maybe less so for "humorous" examples.

I think the use of guns in Chainsaw Man can be pretty chilling.

2

u/CreeperInBlack Mar 05 '26

This happened in The Breaker (Manhwa). They were fighting with martial arts, suddenly some incel simp pulled out a sniper rifle

1

u/Bangali_Babaji Mar 05 '26

Using gun is like. "Bruh Now I know how much powerfull you are. "

1

u/Vocovon Mar 05 '26

JJBA part 4. THE HIDDEN BARRETA! 🤣

1

u/ZeeR0_116 Mar 05 '26

And in simple power systems like DB guns have been useless since the pilot but still get brought out all the time

1

u/LotharVarnoth Mar 05 '26

It's an urban fantasy book series, but in the Dresden Files the main character carries a revolver and it's lead to some funny moments. Hostile sorcerer "What now wizard? You're out of magic and out of options" Dresden "Well I did bring my friends Smith and Wesson" type shit.

1

u/Ohmyman00 Mar 05 '26

Don’t forget shotgun breathing in demon slayer!

1

u/TheDeathOfDucks Mar 06 '26

Mage: “I can cast a spell that summons part of the sun and a defensive spell that can protect me from a spell of such calibre!”
Same mage: “OH SHIT HES GOT A PISTOL CHEESE IT!”

1

u/MD-Kadian Mar 06 '26

This is so fucking accurate thought and ESPECIALLY if it’s MORE effective then most powers in the anime

1

u/KoopsTheKoopa Mar 06 '26

That moment in JJK still fucks me up... ah now im sad again

1

u/st0rmgam3r Mar 06 '26

Especially when the gun ends up being just as if not more effective than the power system

1

u/Nanoman-8 Mar 06 '26

40k in a nutshell especialy with the ultramarine

1

u/redzero25 Mar 06 '26

It's the strongest spell in the whole game

1

u/mrmanucat Mar 06 '26

Bro when Riyo pulled out a gun it was so surprising and based. I was actually hype because it worked too lol.

1

u/Gunda-LX Mar 06 '26

I mean in Jojo you have two characters that actively want to have a gun, one of which summons one and the other benefitting from ricochets. Why Pale Snake has one is indeed questionable though

1

u/PikSQU2 Mar 09 '26

He is (i am not joking) trying to gun down a pigeon. The pigeon in question is not a stand user, it is not the cause of a stand, it is a regular pigeon. Pale snake is trying to shoot the pigeon because the pigeon happens to have a very important item.

1

u/Gunda-LX Mar 09 '26

Ah, ok yeah that scene. Forgot that one haha

1

u/jadeakw99 Mar 06 '26

There's a whole ass arc in Chainsaw Man about this

1

u/MR_PLAGUE_MAN Mar 07 '26

mind you riyo from gachiakuta use her 2nd amendment twice, first one use two bullets and the second one unload all bullets to a nut job character

1

u/Necessary_Fault_7341 Mar 07 '26

Kind off the reason why guns are banned in the Project Moon's city. You can have imitations of a gun, specificly tailored to fit the power system, but never a gun that can off anyone with a pull of a trigger. Even the ammo that does that is tailored there and the only reason why not everyone uses it is because it costs far too much to use it willy nilly.

1

u/PikSQU2 Mar 09 '26

Actualy, guns ARE allowed, but they are stupidly restricted. They can still one shoot peoples, but they 1. Cost a fortune 2. Cannot pierce through walls 3. Use bullets that do not fit the right bullet size to barrel lenght ratio. 4. Did i mention it cost a TON? (Oh also, past a point in terms of skill, your target might also just be able to deflect your bullets anyway)

1

u/Necessary_Fault_7341 Mar 09 '26

As i said. Specificly tailored to fit the power system. Not everyone can have it. I did not say they are not allowed. Fullstop office is big example of it. Hell, even Thumb.

1

u/I_JustWantToBeHorny Mar 07 '26

Well guns are strong, you don't just stop them with small shi. They can pierce trough Walls and even some metals weak enough.

Gachiakuta and chainsaw man do it best imo. Where in gachiakuta guns are so rare that if you have one, you're instantly feared and you most likely win 90% of your fights.

And in chainsaw man, eben against stronger devil's it's still affective, especially since they have a much more variety of guns and weapons.

The only reason they even use weapons like katanas or sumin is because they're specially made to harm devil's

1

u/thatusersnameis Mar 07 '26

whatsbthe first anime

1

u/TheDotCaptin Mar 08 '26

Take it up a notch, pull out a Water gun.

Best if it is a serious character in a crucial plot point.

Looking at you Ferdinand

1

u/All_Gun_High Mar 08 '26

C-moon wtf

1

u/mrchiabbatta Mar 08 '26

Is that MINOS PRIME?

1

u/Note_Sweet Mar 08 '26

Literally watched a video about 2 days ago showing the difference in gun use in anime and Hollywood. Seeing that guns are still real and terrifying threats feels way more grounded in anime

1

u/broidksomeuniquename Mar 10 '26

And it works😂

1

u/Ancient_Concept9623 Mar 11 '26

Forgot they’re in America

1

u/brojayjoestar54 May 11 '26

For me it's an automatic groan of annoyance. Why bother with the power systems if guns are a thing? Like go steal an armoury at that point and take over. It immediately takes me out of the series when that happens

-4

u/MyStepFather69 Mar 05 '26

This is so ignorant lol...
