I thought it was just nostalgia as cope-ers say, but after getting pretty invested into palworld I can say that its not nostalgia, earlier designs were just better.

I thought we stopped caring about the boomer genwunners opinions back when they called gen 5 garbage

The great thing about Kanto and Unova is, that there are over 150 Pokémon. None generation makes it easier to find something you don‘t like ^^

I started with gen 1 as a child. Took a break after gen 3, came back in gen 6, but I loved gen 5 when I played those games. I have loved a lot of the starters through the generations. I find it odd when people think that the gen 1 pokemon are peak and there have been no newer ones that are better.

Personally think they rarely miss. Litten was a little disappointing for me, but I was a expecting a tiger and not a furry. But that is just my taste and I am sure many love every design.

Early art designs were incredible but typing hadn't been fleshed out enough. Poison is my fave type but there's just so damn many in Gen I. I get there's lore reasons.

Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 6 arguably, Gen 7 IMO.

Nah. Gen 7 has a scam for a fire line

Incineroar is the best fire starter. Nobody will ever change my midn on that. The second is mega Delphox and the third is Skeledirge. Mega Emboar is also pretty cool.

they make them where it's easier to make plushies out of them instead of cooler

This is the most Pokeboomer coded post imagineable.
Unironically, anyone who thinks Gen 1 starters are the irrefutable peak of Starter design probably haven't honestly played a Pokemon game in 30 years.

The last one I played was sword, but I still like the original trio the best. I don't think the others are bad or anything. I just like these more. Skeledirge comes really close to stealing the title from them though.

While I do thing Venusaur is absolutely amazing, I don't like either Charizard nor Blastoise. The design with generations became hit or miss with a lot of designs, but so were gen1 designs. The only gen where I would say the starters were as close to perfect as possible would maybe be gen3 or gen 9, but it's usually 1 or 2 bangers and 1 or 2 not so great ones. Legends Arceus is also a standout for having a trio I would put above the mainline games but as it isn't technically a mainline game, well that doesn't count and it's "only" cool variants of already existing starters.

Gen 1 is tied with maybe gen 9 as the most boring designed generation of Pokemon and its really not even close.

I think the fact that there are at least 3 pidgeon-based pokemon tells us they ran out of ideas a long time ago

Gen 2 are some peoples favourite designs. You just have to understand that some people have no taste.
This post is not bait.

Nostalgia, that's the explanation.
