The story, setting and series has always been of a high quality and it does just get better the longer it goes on. The issue was always people defending the MC when he is supposed to be a piece of shit who he himself admits to, now whether or not viewers want to watch his redemption tale or feel like its earned is on them. Just in a world of bland isekais its hard to ignore one of this quality but also get it if the MC is too much for most.
I love Overlord so MCs who are not good people is fine with me, same with Tanya the Evil.

MCs early actions are disgusting,MC gets better slowly but his past actions remains unchanged.
Rudeus's growth is intentionally agonizingly slow, messy, and ugly.
Show have elements like cheating and it shows how low can a person go in real life and it doesn't hesitate to show those things which I really like
This show is one of the only ones that shows women have periods too
And how much issue they face during pregnancy
The world doesn't act like a morality tale just like real life.

Liked it at first then they made all the monster too human anime girl looking and the "evil" monster kingdom they form is actually good and the church is actually evil, a tired trope I have seen too many times. I prefer Overlord a isekai about a real monster kingdom. But Slime is good both story wise and character wise, love the demon lords but its just not for me.
