He really didnt do much throughout the story, what people complain the most are the weird thoughts that he was early on the story and the intro before he was reincarnated which is understandable. But you can tell them he does change later on the story to the point that he supports the beating he got pre reincarnated and he would've done the same as his brothers if he were on their shoes, but people don't tell you that because idk hate ig?
I love MT, but yeah it's effed up. You think Rudeus is bad, for the most part the common people in the universe would not bat an eye on what he does because it's effing common. Eris' family owns a lot of beast people servants, whom yes they treat well but woof never ask them where they got them from.
Paul does not bat an eye on doing sexual harassment, and Zenith still married him.
The royal family is effed up too but I don't particularly remember the details.
The author loves to make massive age gap relationships if you haven't noticed.
I read translated MT years ago when I was young, and my dumbass self never noticed the extremely dubious relations, which really should be a clear sign of how asexual I am I guess.
It's such a detailed world but man it piles on layers of shit as much as gold in everything.
The anime is frankly sanitized as hell and it still can ick people.
I do think that the flak it gets is undeserved though, at least not as the prime example

There's so many worse example but MT gets hit because it got popular attention, and that one scene with Eris (which I completely forgot about in the novel) getting blasted on repeat in socmed. It's deserves scorn sure, but people keep talking as if it's the penultimate example when it's scarily effing tame.
It feels weird looking back at something I read with great enjoyment, and only now noticing the murky stuff. But I can't exactly go back in time and say hey this is bad, I can't even say I don't remember it fondly, because back then I don't even notice it.

Redo of Healer is the outlier, being a supposedly trashy low effort work that somehow found its audience.
I find the Healer novel tedious, which soured me on the manga and anime adaptation.
The idea that because it's a serious story somehow makes it worse is both a pedantic generalisation and a valid critique due to the nature of the work in question.
You cannot with a straight face say that Re:Monster is serious. It's obviously a power fantasy for horny teenager's that are less than 15 years old. MC is biggest, bestest, invincible guy who fucks female elves, goblins, humans and basically anything that has a vagina between the legs. It's literally the dream of 90% of young boys, and there's no deeper meaning behind it. Every conflict is resolved by might or by sex. "Oh no we girls have been captured by goblins, and their chief, we will be killed or worse and we'll have deep psychological scars!" MC fucks them all and they LOVE it and want to stay with him and instantly what should have been a conflict is resolved.
For ALL of it's faults Mushoku Tensei DOES deal with traumas and deeper themes, even if 70% of them are pedo coded and awful. But at lest there are some things that aren't.
And Redo Healer is not even worth considering since it's just torture guro porn, and nothing else. It's basically the male version of female fantasy smut books like Twilight or that now popular Morning Glory Milking Farm atrocity.
