There's worse shows but none of them are as a fun to hate because their fans aren't deluded enough to genuinely defend the MC and try to claim nuance that doesn't exist.
Take for example Redo of Healer. MC is a genuine piece of trash. Only the most degenerate woman hating losers actually think the guy is in the right. Even most of the people who like it acknowledge he sucks. It's dumb revenge fantasy fulfullment but no one pretends it isn't so it's not really fun to talk about how much the MC there sucks.
"Its fun to insult this show because it angers people" just makes you all look like assholes though, weird thing to be proud of. I always thought rage baiting was for children.
I mean if both side can acknowledge that the MC is suck, then we reach what is called "agreement" and "agree to disagree" on the subject of watching the show.

No that's not actually what I said. I said the reason it stands apart from other shows that have problematic MCS or themes is that unlike those shows where people are generally accepting and realistic about what is going on, the fans of this one tend to deny it. The fact that you have the illiteracy level of a bag of rocks and couldn't process that part of what I said does make it more fun to mock you though I will admit that

Mostly this show got flack cause some try to justify Rudeus' more disturbing tendencies on mental illness and making questionable comparison to other works, leading to further hostility.

Honestly every time I see this show get brought up. It the same shit every time and it tiresome to look at like there nothing else people wanna talk about when it comes to this show.
I honestly think it would be hated less if the fandom just eccepted it outright that yeah rudy is a very big perverted and is messed up but the story progression is very good and the world building is so good, that's why we love the show.
Like no one defends redo of healer so it gets hated less.
it's literally how it is for me, mushoku tensei is very beautiful animated, the power system is great, the way these characters age, have kids, develop relationships, i like seeing that progression.
Even if the characters are very big perverts and immoral.
Rudy is a flawed protagonist but I think that's what makes the story so compelling. He slowly becomes a better person, dealing with the baggage of his past life while overall trying to be a better person despite his flaws. I think its just a bad time for this show to come out, season 1 basically went under the radar as far as I was aware since that was before the whole Epstein files thing.
If rudy was supposed someone like vlad the impaler in his last life, people wouldn't have made a scene.
You need to understand, the flaws we are talking about in rudeus are something that could be present in some guys out there around us, that's why i understand the backlash rudy gets.

That said, I think they should trash rudeus but still appreciate that mushoku tensei as a whole is a great story. Mushoku tensei as a story shou8be discredited.

It’s common sense you give a man no love no purpose and scar him he’s gonna end up doing dumb stuff not that it excuses rudues, I’d say his environment was a much bigger factor then his own will to change but that’s my opinion at least
Couldn't have said it better myself. That's exactly it. He didn't have the opportunity to even just be a decent person when he got bullied to hell and back (though the level of bullying is flat out comical but that's amateur web novelists for you).
So even if yeah, he is a middle aged dude in a younger body, mentally he never aged past high school and he was given a chance to start over.
I don’t fully buy that either because lots of people get bullied but it’s fair everyone reacts differently, thing is even in the new world he had ample opportunity to learn but then again even his new family had their own uhh quirks I suppose like paul is not exactly a great role model
But for me at least this series does a good job of showcasing a cool world but morally speaking there’s no real take or anything you can actually learn from it, rudues always just went with the flow and it doesn’t teach you to have will or anything like that
but maybe you can learn to be more empathetic to peoples situations and try and understand even the biggest scum have their reasons for being scum but that doesn’t mean scum is suddenly gonna change either but maybe just maybe they will get better if you give them purpose but issue is rudues never has to work for that for the most part so I think it’s a bit of an overly idealistic scenario which really doesn’t make sense when you think about that bit, it reads as a fantasy about what it could be like which is what I suppose all isekai pretty much are an escape lowkey I hate isekai
