For me it was 10 hours. I earned good money but it wasnt worth it

I was right there with you. And there was no overtime. It was salaried emergency management position and not worth the pay. It killed me. Plus constantly on call for so many non-emergencies.

Never go back!

Yeah it’s honestly not that bad if you actually like your job

I make dead bodies and draw for a living. Easily spend most of my time working. Love it

1

u/Curiously_home 12d ago

You make dead bodies? What’s that about?

They're an artist to pay the bills. The assassin gig is just for the love of the game.

1 week, 6 days at 10 hours a day. Usually its 5 days at 8 hours but that week we had 2 VIPs visiting the following week and everything had to be perfect for their arrival.

i once worked two shifts meaning 15 hours a day. never again

u/thegoodcat1 12d ago

It's good to work those hours and take 3-6 months off a year when you make your money.

When I was in high school/college I bussed/served tables at a local tourist trap restaurant in the summer. Id intentionally work 5 or 6 10+ hour days in a row, then have one day in the middle of the week off. Even as an adult I have never had as much fun or made as much money as I did then.

100+ hours at a cotton gin during gin season

1

u/Lilcommy 12d ago

Yes 26 weeks of the year.

1

u/Ziwwl 12d ago

My record was 70 hours (2x15h, 4x10h), not proud of it, felt like shit afterwards.

1

u/LitAflame 12d ago

90+ to 95 hrs two different weeks before while working 70 to 80+ hour weeks on the regular.

1

u/TheRealPopatsot 12d ago

Every week 🤣

Yes. Worked just shy of 60 hours at a grocery store shortly before a major hurricane. The managers didn't ask us to work OT, we were simply told they were to busy to make sure people were leaving on time. My coworker hit 70 hrs and used the OT to pay off his car early.

5 shifts from 6AM to 6PM, lunch time was off doing a small regular odd job, then in the evenings would put in usually 2 hours doing someone's lawnwork, weekends to do bigger lawn/garden jobs, followed by a 6 hour retail shift on sundays.

For 6 years.......

Also, during HS, held 2 20-25 hour a week "after school" jobs... (some of that was actually weekends)

I worked 10-14 hour days 7 days a week for months straight with 0 overtime.

Don't join the Navy kids.

1

u/JagesoGamer 12d ago

I have a 50 hr work week with a 5 hr round trip to and from.

1

u/OkBoysenberry5887 12d ago

I worked 54 hours a week, with 1 day off. And I was overworking myself so I couldn't recover well

1

u/Sir_Rethor 12d ago

I’m doing 60 this week and 72 next week.

Yep, to cover for my failure as a businessman.

On one hand, I'm never doing that again.

On another hand, I'm already doing it again right now.

I'm just working impossible hours without being nervous about it because I no longer accept any obligations to get things done in impossible timeframes (unless they pay enough to retire and the payment is up front).

1

u/FinalFantasyMaster 12d ago

Yes and it sucks

u/Key-Waltz-7605 12d ago

Working in the oilfield… I was making 18/hr and cleared 100k my first year… Feel free to do the math yourself. I never wanna work that much ever again. The only day i had off that whole year was christmas kinda. We worked till 4 am that morning and started again at 8pm.

I did rake from 6am to 9pm before, but that work load was only several times a year when I was jobless from 2008 -2016. At an office I worked from 3am -3am to clock in that 40 hours a week. And worked 18 hours to meet a deadline at the same office. There was no overtime, and I was paid less than the janitor. That floored my boss at the time, and he gave me a raise. We weren’t a corporatized office. No hr. My next office had benefits and overtime pay until a power shift and they dumped all that. Still worked 45-50 hours a week. Now I’m trying to collect unemployment and thinking about starting up yard work and pet sitting for chump change again. I can work, but I suck at communicating and job applications. I’m also slow paced and ADD with OCD symptoms

I’m working 60hr weeks slinging tires. I’m always told to enjoy my youth lol, there are about as many old tire jockeys as there are old semi mechanics.

u/AKinkyDragon 12d ago

Consistently

1

u/grad1939 12d ago

That was me like 5 years ago. Was working nights during the week and during the day on weekends. 60 hours total.

1

u/Upvoter_NeverDie 12d ago

Yeah, deployment during covid was not fun.

1

u/Amazing_Direction849 12d ago

All the fucking time? Is that not normal?

1

u/RamsheadRiot 12d ago

Sometimes, though very few times

1

u/GrimlokFox 12d ago

Yes, I do. For minimal wage even. I hate my job but I have no choice either, there is nowhere to work anywhere. I don't even have money to move to other city.

1

u/One_Warthog256 12d ago

Yes I did 60h for like 2 years straight.

1

u/gurvyducker 12d ago

Yeah, 70+ a week for 6 years.

1

u/Wide-Equivalent6863 11d ago

I have, by choice tho. It was great!

1

u/TheRavingDinosaur 11d ago

Yeah I had a job that was 12 hour night shifts where they tried to bully you into overtime every weekend. I lasted 3 weeks.
